If you are an avid Beatles fan, you are doing yourself a disservice by not getting this set. Although technically not a box set, the 6 CDs and Blu-ray are tucked neatly inside a large, well done, hardbound book. It also includes the original poster and four individual portraits. The remix is incredible and, whether you listen to that or the rehearsal sessions, the audio quality is so fantastic that, if you close your eyes, it feels as if the band are actually in the same room with you!

To all the bad reviews here, I dont know what the problem was about. My copy was perfect, nearly flawless. The sound was great and the packaging was awesome. Im from México, and this album was very hard to find on vinyl for me, so I was very happy when I knew that new reissiues on vinyl were going to come out. Now I can have The Beatles albums on vinyl without paying too much for them.

I was looking forward to this, as this is my favorite work by the Beatles. The best part of this is the remix. Giles Martin stays true to the original mix all the way through. Somehow he has managed to clean up the sound (as he did with Sgt Pepper) making everything that much more beautiful. It’s really like layers of film are removed and everything is pristine. Voices more vibrant and present. Bass and drums much more audible. Fantastic clarity on guitars and orchestration. I have listened to this album for thirty years and hear new things and detail in every song. The musicianship of the Beatles is really noticeable, as well as the brilliant engineering and production. The Blu Ray gives higher definition of the new mix and a nice high definition version of the 1968 mono mix - to my ears not much different from the CDs. The 5.1 mix, like Giles Martin’s mixes in the past don’t add a lot - minimal use of the extra speaker and separation of the parts loses some of the power and tightness of the stereo mixes. The exception to this is revolution #9 which is really fascinating in a type of quadrophonic presentation - this May have been the “hidden” masterpiece of the album, which we can now fully hear, as audio technology has finally caught up to the Beatles White Album. The extra CDs are not that interesting. A lot have been previously released on the Anthology. They do show some of the work behind the completed songs, which is interesting (for instance the first tracking of Dear Prudence). The Esher tapes are fun but pale next to the completed album. The book is great - wonderful photos and really complete notes on each song - I learned so much more about many of the songs. My only peave is there seems to be a lot of compression which makes everything at the same volume throughout - whether it’s Helter Skelter or Blackbird. I’m hoping the LP version has more range. Overall - if you love this album, get the remixes - just outstanding sound quality for the Beatles most diverse album. The revelation is the Beatles excellence as musicians.

The 5.1 version is incredibly good! It sounds like it just came out. Brilliant production and incredible music. The book is priceless and very well written. Is it too expensive? Well I am thrilled I paid and I think the book justifies the expense. I personally have always preferred “Sgt. Peoper” and “Mystery Tour” for the brilliant songs on those albums. But this remastered White Album is just as good as those, if a little bit more cheeky and with more mordant wit. You can’t go wrong buying this and reading the book is priceless. Ok now don’t bother me … I’m going to pop another 100 down for McCartney’s “Lyrics” book. Cheers!

I writing here because I cant find a contact seller option, I bought this album for my parents last Christmas and just now figured out it contained two vinyls of the 2nd record so only half the songs! Very disappointed. If you will replace the album I will remove my rating. Thank you.

This comment is for the 2018 5.1 mix only. Perhaps it’s what Giles had to work with, but this is a pretty sad surround presentation, not worth the effort, and certainly not worth the purchase price. Most of the material is squeezed into a mono feed to the center channel (weakest link in many 5.1 systems, including mine) with one or two instruments fed to left and right channels, and rear channels used rarely, if ever, maybe for the odd background vocal. Very Disappointing. Very nice Martha My Dear though, if you like that song.
