The album is not too bad. It plays with no problems, though there was a skipping back on Revolution 9, probably a speck of dirt that was not heard during second playing. Other than that the LPs play fine and sound fine.

I should give 5 stars as this edition is nicely made, with all stuff accessoires that came with the original LP back in the sixties. Lets Russia show to the Western Record Companies how to present a CD album properly and thats the way it is. I give only 1 star as this album is offered as Japanese and many people DO BELIEVE its Japanese because it LOOKS SO JAPANESE. The serial of this TOJP 7080-81 on obi strip is Japanese but for vinyl LPs only. The Japanese never had TOJP letters for CD editions (TOJP was only used for vinyl LPs) they do have TOCP, like the White Album Edition, real Japanese released from EMI 1998-11-23 with serial numbers TOCP-65200-01 and a complete different designed obi strip.

One of the greatest albums of all time

Firstly Ill say, this is an immaculate package. I first got The White Album when I was about 17, which was around twenty years after the initial release. It is one of those albums that reveals, on repeated headphone listenings, many treasures. So, even at £125, this is great value. Remember, even now, The Beatles, arent everyones cup of tea. I am in a job where I have the opportunity, and often ask people of that generation who did you like. A lot of people would rather say the Stones, rather than JohnPaulGeorgeRingo. I wonder what Derek Taylor, their press officer would say now about this 50th anniversary release. I wouldnt presume, but I think he would say that this is their magnum opus. Maybe they wrote more popular songs, but this is the group in an experimental state; later they would do the Get Back project, but The White Album often represents them raw, opening their hearts and saying things that were real to them. Listen to Julia, did Lennon ever write a more beautiful or heartfelt song? They absorbed all the counterculture influences, and filtered them through their magic blend of Beatle brilliance. Four young men, who changed my world for the better, got me thinking about art, music and self-expression. And dont think that they didnt care what people thought, were arrogant. They needed hits and airplay as much as any band; you are only as good as your last record. They had pressures, still they thought, lets do this anyway. Lets put this out. Its that old maxim do what you pleases you, first. For me The Beatles will always be the band with the best taste, always producing what the people want, they just didnt realise it yet.
