My computer shows a 117 GB capacity for this 128 GB storage device. Thats a big chunk to be doing without. The speed of writing was nothing like what was described for a USB 3.0 device. Example: writing a 3.7 GB folder from my hard drive to the Transcend 128 GB JetFlash 790 (using one of my Dell desktops USB 3.0 ports). The speed wavered wildly. At 35% completion the slow transfer simply ground to a halt for 5 minutes showing a completion estimate of 45 minutes. Finally it started up again and finished at just shy of 11 minutes. I then deleted the folder and repeated the test, which took just over 4 minutes. I deleted the folder again and repeated the process on my HP Spectra x360 laptop. It took 5 minutes, 20 seconds with speeds wavering wildly from 0 bytes/s to 42 MB/s. The practical upshot of this is that I never know how long of a wait I am letting myself in for.

This is my 2nd Transcend flash drive, and my 4th storage device from Transcend overall. Not one of their products has ever had an issue or error for me, even after years of abuse, so I would say that I definitely trust their products. So let me get into the pros/cons of this particular drive: PROS: -Massive storage capacity! It blows me away that 128gb can fit on a flash drive these days -Speed: Although I havent done an official speed test, the USB 3.0 seems to transfer large (10gb+) files very fast -Physical size is very small. I was pleasantly surprised at how tiny this thing is, as it looked a bit larger in the stock photos. Its very thin, and barely longer than a standard house key. -Design: This may be more of a personal opinion, but I find the physical appearance to be very aesthetically pleasing, thin, and sleek. CONS: -Lightweight plastic construction. Although Ive never had a Transcend drive break on me, I do think this one just feels cheaper. -The slider is a little loose. Its not bad, but I somehow wish that there was a more definitive click when you slide the USB end out or in. It simply should be sturdier. -Bright LED light. This could be a pro or con, depending on your preferences, but the blue LED indicator is quite bright. I like it, but when the lights are off and Im watching a movie it can be a bit distracting. CONCLUSION: Although it has a few drawbacks, I think this drive is the best flash drive money can buy right now. At its current price, its about the same money-wise as its competitors, but it looks a million times better. As long as the plastic material of which its made holds up overtime, this review will remain a 5/5. Highly recommended!

Its a great USB, tons of memory for a great price. Very easy to carry around, protective when it slides in (it will not slide out and get damaged). No issues with all the computers I use finding the device, no issues saving or downloading files. However, the push button to slide the USB back into storage is a bit sensitive. Sometimes when I go to plug it into my computer, it slides back into its storage. I usually have to hold it on its sides (a bit awkward) to plug it into my computer. But thats something I can live with considering I need to save big files for research.

    Pretty fast, but a good example of why benchmarking software isnt much of a guide. Heres what Crystal Disk Mark has to say (and the photo shows a transfer of two video files on Windows 10, with an SSD source and this drive plugged into a fast USB 3.0 port that lives up to the 3.0 standard): Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 102.911 MB/s Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 97.646 MB/s Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 6.301 MB/s [ 1538.3 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 0.262 MB/s [ 64.0 IOPS] Sequential Read (T= 1) : 105.711 MB/s Sequential Write (T= 1) : 87.028 MB/s Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 5.113 MB/s [ 1248.3 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 0.231 MB/s [ 56.4 IOPS] Please see the photo of an actual transfer- it slows to about 23MB/sec after 150MB are transferred.

I bought this thinking it was just another jump drive. Turns out that USB 3 series can interfere with wireless keyboard IF plugged into desktop next to wireless keyboard/mouse widget. Basically the mouse wont work and keyboard is sporadic. Something about wireless interference. I bought a dongle to plug this into and then plugged the dongle into back of desktop away from wireless widget. That seemed to solve the problem.

Great drive with speed of about 10 MB/s on a 2.0 port. This drive does not run hot. Great price too.. Right now the 32GB black costs about $13 and the white is about $10. Also bought a white one, and its 2.0 write speed is also very good. Large files transfer at about 10MB/s. Batches of smaller files naturally get written at about 8MB/s. Light behind the blue slide is very visible, and is always on. With the white case, blue glow fills the bottom of the drive. I bought another black drive. It is different: doesnt say USB 3.1 on the case and there is no light. Performance is the same I guess. I have many drives, so I like to buy different designs from many highly rated manufacturers so all my drives look different. Drives from this brand have never failed me. -Chris

The size of 64 GB is good for collecting brief video records. But because the speed is not good enough, I am going to use this to store video clips and play on various PCs. If you want an USB stick of a large capacity and if youre going to write on it frequently, this one would be not so recommendable. Id like to recommend SANDISK Extreme USB 3.0 or SANDISK Extreme Pro USB 3.0 for frequent writing. They have decent speeds both in reading and writing. Ive been using various USB sticks over more than 15 years and found only SANDISK Extreme USB 3.0 / Extreme Pro USB 3.0 have suitable speed for their great capacity. This one would be recommended for temporary storage for a great volume of data with less frequent writings. SANDISK Extreme / Extreme Pro USB 3.0 are definitely the ones to go with if you can ignore additional cost. With this one, you can expect a great capacity but not a suitable speed to fill that capacity.

I purchased 2 of these flash drives and both perform ~ equal to USB 2 speed. USB 3.1 real world speed is rated at 3.2 Gb/sec and both drives perform at 0.2 Gb/sec. USB 2.0 real world speed actually a little faster at 0.32 Gb/sec. Frankly, I wont be buying any more of this product. Finally, the description claims that there is a LED activity indicator on each flash drive. I cannot see one anywhere on it. This is one of the reasons I chose this drive.

I just got a car with a USB drive reader and went into Windows Media and transferred all my favorite music to this stick. I still have a bunch of music in my iTunes, which I cant wait to get transferred over to this. The transfer is so fast that sometimes I didnt believe it had actually happened. I am able to select music by artist, album, playlist or shuffle. I am enjoying this so much. I just got home from a week that put almost 1000 miles on my car, and about half the time I was listening to my tunes, a lot of which Id never even heard. I cant believe how much room I have to spare on the stick.

Long term durability and robustness remains to be seen, but it worked when I got it. Ive only transferred files over USB 2.0, havent tried the USB 3.0 speeds yet. Ive put around 60GB of photos and 1080p video footage, and if I recall, the transfer rate was around 10-15MB/s (80-100Mbps) - well under the maximum 480Mbps USB 2.0 spec, but it wasnt time critical, more for backup purposes so it wasnt a big deal. Being a solid state device, Im hoping for better long term robustness from this over an external HD. So far, so good even though its only been a couple weeks. On another note, I dont really care for the USB slider form factor, as it has a tendency to push back into the casing while youre trying to connect it to the USB port. Minor criticism and not enough to stop me from pouncing on it as one of the Daily Deals, but something I thought was worth noting.
