> 3 dayBeen doing CB for about 35 years. Not constantly jawing, more of a lurker. Had several units in the past. Ranger, Cobra, Uniden (Bearcat) et al. This is by far the most advanced, easy to set up and generally polite CB I have ever owned. Color changing display keeps my OCD in check by matching my HAM radio and dash light colors. One small issue to be aware of is that the weather reception is spotty. Best to listen while stationary if you are in a fringe area.

> 3 dayPrior to ordering the Bearcat 880, I was using a Cobra 19 Ultra III and felt like I was 10ft tall and bulletproof. Rollin down I-40 talkin to Big Rigs and using trucker lingo left and right: 10-4 good buddy Breaker 1-9 BJ two two But after being told that I was not coming in clearly (as well as what BJ two two actually MEANT) I realized I was no longer safe on the roadways with a Walmart special (or in the bathrooms at Target) SO I wanted to spread my wings....and if I were going to venture outside the safety of my home state (North Carolina) I was going to need more of a BIG BOY radio (as well as some street smarts to identify trannys in bathrooms in the other lower 48s) So I hunkered down on the ole interwebs (Thanks Richard Rawlings) and did me some research on the BEST bang for the buck in the Big Boy trucker world of radios. All roads pointed back to the Bearcat! I ordered me up one and mounted it in my Jeep. You see, us club riders use these here CBs to warn each other about Toyota drivers in the woods who spend MOST of their time standing on the trail watching other vehicles conquer obstacles while they take the bypass on harder trails. ..and no one wants to hear you warn others about those Yota-boys and which way to go to avoid them, when its all crackling and broken sounding. I read the instructions and prepared to tune the whip (that theres trucker-speak for antenna for all you undumacated folks) but to my surprise my numbers were spot on I was SO pleased with my application in my Jeep and how clear and powerful it was, I ordered one for my tow rig. Installation in it didnt go so well. My numbers were ridiculous, and my antenna failed as well as my RF. I was spiking at 12 on 40 and 4 on 1 I couldnt figure out for the life of me what was wrong. I grounded the antenna to both the body AND the frame....with no luck Instructions were useless at this point. FINALLY a friend told me that you can tune the RADIO to the Antenna! But that the instructions didnt tell you how to do that. First, you go to 40 and test...If you spike over 2.5 push the S/RF/CAL/SWR button until you get to CAL. Cue the Mic and turn the channel button DOWN until you get to 2-2.5 Repeat for 1 until it too is within 2-2.5 When you correct 1 go BACK to 40 and recheck. Then back to 1 THIS will keep your S/RFs below 3 and keep you from burning up your radio. And staying off Ch22 will keep you from burning up your rear and or getting a surprise in the mens room out of the comfort of North Carolina & Mississippi I am very happy with my Bearcat 880 and would recommend it to anyone

> 3 dayi got this for my 2013 jeep patriot. it looks great and works great. i put it right on the passenger side of the gear shift and the mic went on the shelf above the glove box. I got a few good radio checkes when i used it and i got a road trip coming up soon so ill post how it goes. but its also easy to use and the self dignosins thing works great told me what i had to fix so its great cuz i had a short 18 in and i could not get a good range with it so i changed it out for a 3foot and works great.

Greater than one weekGreat radio! The reception is great and the signal strength is good. The color features are really cool and they make driving with the radio at night a breeze because the colors dont interfere with your night vision perception. Overall this is a great CB Radio...

Greater than one weekso I purchased and installed with no issues. Tuned the antenna and it works great. My issue is the LED display. There are several colors that you can choose from on the display, yet none of them seem bright enough during day light hours, to the point that Im unable to see what channel the CB is on, run diagnostics, or monitor the weather channel I want - again, because I cant see the display. This unit is just over 4 months old and Uniden will not honor their 1 year warranty as it was sold by a third party. Ive reached out to Amazon and Im waiting to see if they will replace this unit. More to follow....

> 3 dayI am very happy with this CB!!! I paired it with the wireless microphone that bearcat makes... Makes spotting on the trail ultra nice!! Take the CB with you and still have the quality benefits of a base station in your rig!!!

> 3 dayTook this thing with me to hell and back and 4 years later it still operates the same as when I first got it. Awesome choice menu for color display and there a few diagnostic tools in the menu that are also very helpful. Good radio but the 980 is what I’m looking at getting next. Only difference is it has sideband more so for intermediate to advanced users.
