Out of the box I couldnt get a radio check at all the truck stop at the base of the grape vine. When I got to Vegas, I saw my cb guy Irishman, and for 40 bucks he made is awesome. Works great, he pulled out stuff on the mic and opened the unit and added some stuff and POW it is excellent. So plan on upgrading when you get one.

Overall I like the CB. The only thing I do not like is during the daylight, I cannot see the display, but night time is great. If I had it to do over again, I would probably go with a more traditional CB. I do like all of the features though!

Good looking unit. Built in SWR meter works good and allowed me to adjust SWR without another unit. Love the weather band. Only thing could improve on in design, when taking unit in and out, bracket could be notched to front (there is no notch) so bolts would not have to be removed completely from cb and unit could be slid in without having to align bolts. Would make removal and installation considerably easier once permanently mounted.

Good like most Uniden products. Unfortunately if dash mounted you cant read the display during the afternoon. I would have preferred a standard unit (model 68) after seeing how bad it is.

Out of the box it was great. The the display started to dim and menus were unreadable within a year. Its under warranty so sent it in. After a month or so received it back with a working display with really bright colors. Yea, great its working again. Now almost a year later parts of the display have stop showing. No meter display and the channel display is intermittent. I had a Cobra before this without issue. This is my first Uniden. So not great.

I am running the uniden 880, and have been very impressed with it. Like you, I wanted a more modern looking unit so it didnt look out of place in the front of the cab as well as a built in calibration too because when it comes to optimizing radios for signal and transition strength.... I have no clue. This this feature was important to me. I also liked that the unit was 3 inches shorter than the cobra 29xl and had a multi color display. The unit itself had a quality build and the speaker is beyond loud, which is the reason I didnt go with the smaller midland or cobra 75 model. I mounted mine up high on a mount I fabricated. It has two parts and essentially explains everything, what it does and how to use it. Its worth a look. Build 9/10 cb mic mount screws were to small Looks 10/10 Ease of use 9.5/10 instructions were not good Sound clarity/ quality 10/10 My set up: Uniden 880 18 ft Amazon cable Rugged Ridge cb antenna mount screw mount antenna holder firestik brand HD spring firestik brand hd is a must stay away from the light and Medium duty springs. 4ft firestik. Side note* I did have to bend the rigged ridge antenna mount as the antenna would not clear the stock rubicon tire and I did not have to file off the paint to obtain an SWr of 1.0 Hope this helps. Good luck.

Replaced my Cobra classic 29 with this. The two function equally as well. The cobra has a much louder stock speaker though. I love the weather channel and ease of calibration. The mic is awesome! If you are looking for a perfect unit out of the box, buy this one. If you like to mod or super tune your unit, buy a Cobra. You will not be happy with this radio if you are wanting anything other than a great stock CB. There are no old tricks that will work inside. I am very happy with this radio! 5 star features at a very low price.

This radio is fantastic* *Ok, it is fantastic for what it is. I upgraded from my old Uniden Bearcat Pro PC68XL which was a really great basic radio which followed me from car to car for ten years. The old Uniden still works but I wanted to upgrade to a unit that had weather bands and an on-board SWR meter, both of which work great on the 880. The options on this radio are fantastic (I can choose the color and set contrast and brightness? gasp!) and the black face with a hint of chrome is very classy and understated, unlike the huge chrome CBs that are obviously meant for installation in an 18-wheeler. But, it is definitely not a heavy duty radio. If you are planning on installing this in a work truck, or a commercial vehicle I would look at a more classic CB (Uniden Bearcat Pro, Cobra model 29) on which the switches are stouter and can be operated with gloves on. I havent had any durability issues with this unit, and the build quality is top-notch but the buttons are on the smallish side and I shudder to think of a methed out trucker fiddling with this while piloting 80,000lbs down the highway at 70mph. All of the functions work really well and the adjust-ability is fantastic. The noise cancelling mic works well and the on-board speaker is very clear and loud.
