Uniden BEARCAT 880 CB Radio with 40 Channels and Large Easy-to-Read 7-Color LCD Display with Backlighting, Backlit Control Knobs/Buttons, NOAA Weather Alert, PA/CB Switch, and Wireless Mic Compatible

First one I got was DOA. It would light up and appear to function but no sound from it. Even the buttons didnt beep when pressed. The second one functioned as expected SORTA. The output on the receiving end has very low volume. Everyone tells me they have to turn me way up to hear me, which makes everyone else too loud. This wasnt the case with the Uniden 550 this unit replaced. I have the mic gain all the way up but it doesnt seem to help. Rather than return it again, Ill probably just take it to a CB repair place to have it checked. I havent decided yet. Maybe Uniden will see my review and offer some suggestions. EDIT: I decided to return it. I couldnt justify spending additional $$ to get it working right. I bought a different brand.

We bought two of these in March of 2019. Out of the box the displays were way to dim to be readable in normal daylight conditions. One of the two has had the display fail all for a small corner. These units have been well cared for and theres no reason a cb should have this sort of issue. Its not like we are launching the space shuttle here. Its just a radio. The same unit that has no display just recently stopped transmitting and now only receives. Needless, to say I am shopping for a replacement and I wont wast money on another Uniden product.

Such great product for 4x4 trip

This CB was installed in my 2012 JK Unlimited in a Tuffy single-compartment overhead console! This is a sleek unit, with tons of new age technology, such as LCD displays with useful calibration tools built right in for SWR calibration and Antenna tuning!! It has a built in PA option, which of course is always fun to have :) The unit seems to be more powerful than some Cobra competition out there with out pulsing around 5W instead of the industry standard 4W. Couple this with a FireStik antenna, and youre ready to trail ride with ease while keeping in communication with the group! Highly recommended!!

Great cb radio .sounds clear and does what I need it to do. The one thing I wasnt happy with is on the screen there is a scratch on the inside but other then that I love the radio. Amazon was great with there 2 day prime shipping . another happy Amazon customer

so I purchased and installed with no issues. Tuned the antenna and it works great. My issue is the LED display. There are several colors that you can choose from on the display, yet none of them seem bright enough during day light hours, to the point that Im unable to see what channel the CB is on, run diagnostics, or monitor the weather channel I want - again, because I cant see the display. This unit is just over 4 months old and Uniden will not honor their 1 year warranty as it was sold by a third party. Ive reached out to Amazon and Im waiting to see if they will replace this unit. Out of the box it was great. The the display started to dim and menus were unreadable within a year. Its under warranty so sent it in. After a month or so received it back with a working display with really bright colors. Yea, great its working again. Now almost a year later parts of the display have stop showing. No meter display and the channel display is intermittent. I had a Cobra before this without issue. This is my first Uniden. So not great.

I purchased this unit in February of this year. It is being used as a base unit with a dedicated power supply and proper bus grounding. Initially the reports were low modulation unless I held the mic closer to my mouth. Now, after 5 months I almost have to place the mic in my mouth to get adequate modulation SWR 1.2 to 1, Full mic gain using the controls on the radio and antenna / coax is good using a antenna analyzer....need help. I dont want to send back, otherwise good rig.

This is a really nice looking radio. It looks fantastic. Very slick. Very modern. I bought this radio due to its looks and features, especially for its built in swr meter. Unfortunately, the meter is horrible. It is totally inaccurate. The swr readings from the built in meter were way off compared to several external meters I used. During my antenna tuning, the built in meter was giving me really low safe readings while my external meters were are at 3.0! Also, the screen scratches really easily. Uniden couldnt have used a cheaper quality screen. Dont expect this unit to be rugged.
