Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible, 11.6-Inch HD Touch, Intel Celeron N3150, 4GB DDR3L, 32GB, CB5-132T-C1LK, Denim White

We ordered this Chromebook for my son to use for school. We received it in August, and it worked fine for just 5 months and then the touch screen stopped working. We had to pay $25 to send it to Acer for repair (under warranty). They had it over a week and then shipped back. It worked properly for less than a week, and the touch screen stopped functioning again. We contacted both Acer and Amazon, and they both informed us that it has to be sent back for repairs again. They will not replace it - even though it is still less than a year old and under warranty - until it has been repaired THREE times for the SAME problem. In the meantime, my son is without the Chromebook he uses for schoolwork. Will definitely NOT buy another Acer product.

I bought one for my father in law. He really likes it, and it works well for what he does (light web surfing). I liked it so much I bought one for myself (bought both at Best Buy). Alas! I find that this model is just too slow for my needs. I use my CB for productivity (spreadsheets, drawings, writing, etc.), and there are just too many instances when I find myself waiting for the R11 to catch up to me. Im spoiled by my Dell 13 CB with an i3 processor. I thought the touch screen and Android apps would be especially nice, but the touchscreen really doesnt work out so well with ChromeOS, and when it comes down to it, I really dont see the need for using Android apps. At first I thought it would be really nice to have Snapseed, but Polarr has exceeded Snapseed in functionality, and it runs on ChromeOS. The R11 is a nice machine; it doesnt do what I need.

Works great for my 4th graders. They have google drive at school, so all their work is always on-line, so we dont need a traditional computer for them.

I love this thing. Im not a gamer, programmer, graphic artist, or somebody that need serious processing power. I am someone who likes to surf the internet, watch YouTube, and take classes to finish my degree online. This thing does everything I need for it to do. I love the touch screen ability and how I can fold this thing so its like a tablet when I read books. When I needed to buy a laptop and saw the price tags on most Mac Books and laptops, I almost cried. How the heck was I supposed to get through all my classes without one, yet I couldnt afford them. Then I discovered these Chromebooks. For about a third the price, I get all the functionality I needed. I have had this thing for a couple of years now and can confidently tell you I still love this thing. The battery lasts for a crazy long time, and its so lightweight and portable. I love that its small and compact and fits into my tote purse. If youre like me and dont need to run crazy functions or play computer games, this is a great dependable laptop for you.

We bought this for my husband to use for military classes. It can use some programs but its like using a tablet instead of a normal laptop.

So far so good. Daughter uses as primary computer at college, where everything is web/Google Drive - based. In that environment, it does everything just as well or better than her much more expensive laptop. Battery life is way better. Convertible touchscreen/tablet feature is a Godsend for reading ebooks (especially in bed). Build quality is surprisingly good for the price - it just feels durable. Bottom line: if youre in an environment where you have access to reliable WiFi, and arent doing processor-intensive tasks like gaming, video processing or hi-res photo editing, this may be all you really need.

I bought this Chromebook as a toy, but Ive been using it to get serious work done. I routinely use it to access Amazons cloud services with ssh, mosh, and vnc.

good battery life.
