What I did like it did arrive on time. what I didnt like is that the product arrived with the wrong power cord. the cord was very nasty and dirty. what I didnt like was that the projector itself had loose parts in the inside lot of rattling going on in the inside when I picked the projector up wow totally dissatisfied. I did not power the unit up because I was afraid that the cord might short it out due to the damage Incorrect Power cord.

Look, its a nice PJ. Its quiet enough and resolution is great. It is picky about the strength of your HDMI signal - there are plenty of older HDMI receivers that will not have enough signal to light it without (at least) tweaking the settings in the built in HDMI Equalizer. Even when you do, it is inconsistent and fussy with resolution. If you wire it straight from the source (Apple TV, PS4) these issues do not present. I am upgrading from an 8 year old 720p DLP unit, and have never been able to see the rainbow effect with it - on this one, I can see it in the whites every time, without fail. Also, this thing is bright. On its least powerful settings, I still had to mount an ND filter to the front to get it dark enough in my completely light-controlled theater. (No, you cant adjust brightness and fix this, brightness is a component of the picture adjustment, not the lamp output.) While the color rendering is truly terrific and remarkably-tweakable, the sharpness really does leave something to be desired. While there are work arounds for the other issues I have with this PJ, there is no fix for underperforming glass, and this is ultimately why it was returned. What can I say, its mounted dead level, flat and true and it is discernibly soft at the edges of the screen. My screen width at 16:9 is 87, it starts to lose focus about 13 from either side. The lens just isnt up to it. You can see it in programming and it is very obvious using the (internally generated) alignment grid feature. I really, truly wanted this thing to work out and Ive tried accommodating it every which way - lots of people obviously love this PJ - in my experience... its just not cutting it. For similar money, the Epson is hands down a superior product in every possible way.

I decided to upgrade from my 5yr old W1070 which has never let me down. All I can say is WOW, the HT3550 is a day and night difference. Im not sure whats to come in 5 more years but Im confident BenQ will be on the top of my upgrade list...again. (the pics are in a fully lit room without any projector adjustments)

Benq ht3550 only lasted less than a year stopped working. Customer service from manufacturer is terrible, hard to reach. Do yourself a favor and purchase another brand.

Well guys what can I say about this projector? My previous projector was a viewsonic 720p native which I purchased from a co-worker, who had upgraded his screen and projector (he got another viewsonic and gave me his gently used screen and projector). I had been waiting over a year to upgrade. I went from wanting to get the TK800 when it first hit, to the LGs fancy portable one, to the xiaomi mi to you name it...I have a small apartment (its mounted a little over 8.2 away), so the throw was important to me, and I had been tired of not making use of the projector screens size (a homegear 110). Im a novice when it comes to all the jargon and terminology, however, I do know what looks good. Im a computer gamer and several yrs ago added xbox and ps4 to my list of addictions. Ill say that this projector has blown me away. An amazing image, no light spills on to the ceiling or anywhere that its not meant to be...fan noise is reasonable as well. Because Ive yet to buy a sound system, Ive been using projector speakers, and honestly Ive been impressed. Im definitely not a fanboy, but Ive certainly been won over. Dont take my word for it, look at my pics and decide for yourself. If youre on the fence, hop off and buy the darn thing. You wont get a single regret from me.

The picture was fuzzy and would white out any type of oily skin (forehead)

(The good) incredible sharp, accurate color picture. It looks amazing. I also did not notice any rainbows. Very easy on the eyes even with all the lights off. Not loud at all. (The bad) it lacks brightness. You must have black out curtains or better yet a true theater room or only use at night. This thing does-not like light at all. It can been seen during the day but washes out so bad. I compared this with the epson 3800. It was a close decision as its a sharp nice sharp picture with amazing colors. In the end I chose the epson 3800 since the contrast was amazing and the colors would pop. I could even use it during the day no problem. Wish I could just own both but the wife said no ha ha.

If you are looking for a 4K projector but dont want to pay a ton this is the one for you. Great picture! It is above our heads- it is a bit noisy but nothing that is a game changer- It gets really hot too. Other than those two things great projector for the money.

I was impressed by the image quality in terms of colors, etc. However, something seemed off about the screen size. I realized what it was when Walter Mitty looked like he lost 25 pounds since the last time I watched that movie. Compare picture 1 (1080p on phone) with picture 2 (1080p on HT3550) and you should be able to see the difference. In my setup, the projector is sitting in the back of the room, high up on a shelf on the wall. I had to adjust it downwards by a lot, but still within a bounds of whats correctable using its keystone adjustment. However, I confirmed through measuring the image, that the more keystone you apply, the more the ratio gets distorted. Where I had it sit, it projected an image of 94⅜ by 55½. This is over 4 too narrow! It results in a ratio of about 15⅓:9 instead of 16:9. The ratio distortion is less at less keystone adjustment, but more measurements confirmed it does it even at minimal adjustment. My current 1080p projector doesnt have this issue at all. I dont understand how this is even possible, since the keystone adjustment is (as far as I understand) not a physical thing, but a digital thing. Even if some viewers might not notice it, a $1500+ machine should not have this kind of problem, so I returned it within 24 hours.
