> 3 dayI have the projector mounted on the ceiling, pretty close to seating area. The projector is loud and is distracting. The picture seems pixelated. Another user suggests to turn off HDR in source and in the projector for better picture quality. Will update once I get a chance to do that. I wouldn’t recommend getting this projector.

> 3 dayas a projector enthusiast (over 17 years) I can say that this is the the best projector I have ever own in my life. I use it in my home cinema room and its just breathtaking. here is my take on it. used for movies and gaming. (PC and PS5) Pros: sharp, low input lag, bright. Pros and cons of Ht3550. Pros: Sharp as a razor blade. Contrast ratio. Amazing image depth. The colors are 100 % accurate out of the box. The quiet hum of 4k chip, you cant really hear it. No light border around the image. Dynamic iris (a good thing to have but not a deal-breaker) Lens ceiling light shield. Breath-taking hdr capability. (still cant find my jaw) Cons: some say it has a high input lag but it never bothered me in games. my tests showed about 50/55MS without the dynamic iris and about 77 with dynamic iris turned on. (i game without the dynamic iris) but I dont feel it in any game I play on Ps5. 2000 lumens, works best in dark rooms. Image syncs two sides of the screen for a minute. (only at startup). purple Fringing/ chromatic aberration. its only visible up close and as soon as you gain some distance from the projector screen it goes completely away. it is known with this model and it should not bother anyone owning this projector. although rated 2000 lumens I would say its about 2500. I have another 2200 projector and HD3550 blows it out of the water. I am not playing FPS games so I have never seen input lag, dont let this issue stir you away from this amazing projector. 4k gaming on my ps5 is just stunning and frankly, sometimes unbelievable how amazing it looks. The cons are very negligible vs the pros. I dont know how Benq managed to do this in this price range but its just nothing short of amazing.

> 3 dayAs advertised. Perfect for our home theater (dark room/no windows. Easy set up (ceiling/back of room), though be mindful of distance and measures. Hard to believe this is half the price of our epson 5040. Image quality is slightly better.

> 3 dayI got this projector back in Sept 19, and when I first got it, I had all the issues other had where there would be a line running through half the screen, but a firmware upgrade (which is very simple if you follow the directions on the BenQ page so you place the files on the USB drive correct, and also have the USB drive formatted properly to be detectable)), I have had no issues whatsoever. I did have a previous issue if it constantly switching between HDR and back to normal 4K, but that was because I was using a 35 HDMI cable. If you go 30 or more, you need a FIBER hdmi cable, or it will not work properly. Just remember, almost every fiber HDMI cable I have seen is unidirectional, so make sure to reach which side is source, and which side is display, so you dont have to redo all your wiring. I have had zero issues with this projector for the 1.5+ years after I made the changes above, and this projector is an absolute steal when I got it for $1500. I also would never use eco-mode for the projector, because like with eco mode on any device, it makes the performance thoroughly stink.

> 3 dayThis is my fourth projector in 10yrs. Recently had the Epson 5040UB and decided to go with Benqs HT3550 DLP 4K (1080 × 4), over Epsons new 5050UB claimed 4K which actually only displays 2k (1080 x 2) (read Epsons fine print). The HT3550 is also about half the price. The HT3550 is so much sharper than my old 5040UB, its like seeing 4k for the first time. Due to having light colored walls in my light controlled theater, I really dont see a noticeable difference in the claimed contrast between the two. This project is not advertised as a bright room projector and will not be suitable for that environment. With todays projectors in the sub $3000 range, theres a trade off of either having deep rich true theater like colors, or a super bright picture. I prefer I true to form picture in a light controlled room.

Greater than one weekProjector works great, but the Android TV is nothing but trouble. No Netflix, Hulu lags, it has trouble connecting, and a pain to set up. Youre better off getting a Chromecast. Plus its cheaper than the $100 upgrade. Android TV is a BenQ HDMI dongle with Chromecast on it. It plugs in to the inside (a hidden third HDMI port) and is powered on when the projector powers on. If you were to buy the new Chromecast it would work just the same except youd have to use an outside HDMI port. Customer service on the BenQ website is slow and they offer no solutions. They went right to replacing under warranty which takes weeks unless they put a hold on you card for quick shipment. The guy didnt suggest updating the firmware or projector which was pretty easy, but could also be hard for some.

> 3 dayI have had a BenQ projector (W1070) for five years. When I heard that a 4k direct replacement was coming (HT3550), I placed a pre-order as soon as available. I just received and installed today. First test was the 4k BumbleBee video. Amazing clarity and brightness with very little adjustment necessary. The dynamic iris and HDR make a significant impact on movie presentation. Second test was HD content with Pens vs Islanders first round hockey playoffs great picture, even with fast paced camera panning. So far this HT3550 is everything the W1070 was when I first purchased, but with the added 4k and dynamic Iris and HDR. Very pleased with initial experience. Highly recommend.
