> 3 dayAs advertised. Perfect for our home theater (dark room/no windows. Easy set up (ceiling/back of room), though be mindful of distance and measures. Hard to believe this is half the price of our epson 5040. Image quality is slightly better.

> 3 dayProjector is a great value for the money, however Im just now starting to see (6 or so weeks in from new) an occasional split screen like has been mentioned in forums regarding home theater and BenQ projectors. Hopefully this wont become a major problem like my last one did, but that one was a renewed projector so who knows what was fixed or not prior to sale. Would like to give 5 stars but just cant....

Greater than one weekI ordered the item and it came on time. The box was damaged with a big hole in the side. I purchased this as a new purchase. There were signs this projector was used and I believe was returned. The seller Adorama also has a used department as evidenced by their message in their on hold announcement. The seller Adorama was what appeared to be looking for any way to not provide the requested refund. First they delayed the process for a week by saying they have to look into it I will call you back in 3 days. They didnt call me back. I called them and spoke with the first customer representative. After I pressed her for a discussion with their manager She disconnected the call. I called back and got a different csr. After some discussion and a request to speak with their manager again she provided me a return label and I sent it back 3 hrs later. Their customer service department acts more like a customer disservice department. And I dont understand why they do everything they can to not let you talk to the customer service manager. After all, what is the customer service manager for? The projector when working looked great. It was bright and true to color. But it was intermittent at turn on.

> 3 dayThe customer service is great - the unit was auto powering off with no notice or reason, and BenQ quickly issued a shipping label to return and replaced it quickly. Putting a lot of hours on it and working really well. Regarding the unit itself - Android integration is what sets this apart from others of similar quality. The ability to adjust the angle of the lens is nice for fine tuning. The picture quality is really impressive.

19-04-2025Look, its a nice PJ. Its quiet enough and resolution is great. It is picky about the strength of your HDMI signal - there are plenty of older HDMI receivers that will not have enough signal to light it without (at least) tweaking the settings in the built in HDMI Equalizer. Even when you do, it is inconsistent and fussy with resolution. If you wire it straight from the source (Apple TV, PS4) these issues do not present. I am upgrading from an 8 year old 720p DLP unit, and have never been able to see the rainbow effect with it - on this one, I can see it in the whites every time, without fail. Also, this thing is bright. On its least powerful settings, I still had to mount an ND filter to the front to get it dark enough in my completely light-controlled theater. (No, you cant adjust brightness and fix this, brightness is a component of the picture adjustment, not the lamp output.) While the color rendering is truly terrific and remarkably-tweakable, the sharpness really does leave something to be desired. While there are work arounds for the other issues I have with this PJ, there is no fix for underperforming glass, and this is ultimately why it was returned. What can I say, its mounted dead level, flat and true and it is discernibly soft at the edges of the screen. My screen width at 16:9 is 87, it starts to lose focus about 13 from either side. The lens just isnt up to it. You can see it in programming and it is very obvious using the (internally generated) alignment grid feature. I really, truly wanted this thing to work out and Ive tried accommodating it every which way - lots of people obviously love this PJ - in my experience... its just not cutting it. For similar money, the Epson is hands down a superior product in every possible way.

Greater than one weekI upgraded from the HT2550 I bought last year and I could not be happier. The HT2550 was a great intro to bringing affordable 4K projectors to the home but BenQ has outdone themselves with the new HT3550!!! Picture quality has improved vastly which is didn’t think was possible. This unit TRULY rivals the theater in ever way and that makes me happy to say as a lifelong cinephile. This is DREAM of a machine. Colors and clarity and unreal for a projector. Literally looks like I’m watching a giant Samsung or LG flat panel. Also throwing in the smooth motion feature has been one of my favorite additions. I get why some people aren’t a fan, and it definitely doesn’t work for all movies/shows. But throwing this feature on low goes that much future to improving the immersion of the whole experience. The smoothness brings LIFE to the picture in a unique way. BenQ must have updated the sound card as well because there much more clarity, space and deeper bass coming from this unit. My only gripe is that I can’t switch between sound modes. My “Sound Mode” feature is basically greyed out and stays on the default setting. It’s fine because it still sounds great but I’d love to test out the other modes as well. The unit is much fast that the HT2550 as well. Handshakes faster and menus aren’t as sluggish. This is a TRUE a cinematic experience for your home. For this price I can’t see it getting any better. Thanks BenQ!!!

> 3 dayBENQ delivers as expected. I bought this to replace my 12 year old Epson Cinema HD projector after the internal board went bad (known issue). Mounting this can be a big pain because the BENQ has hump on it where as most projects are flat where the mounting brackets go. I was able to use my 12 year old mounting bracket by some adjustments. First I added some foam on hump and got bigger screws (M4) to make the bracket connection. The foam was used to prevent scratches and dents, and to get the bracket and screw in. The other two screws on the flat areas were simple to get in with no modifications needed. Also I preferred to use my old bracket as it was measured for my 120inch screen. The only other work was running a 4K HDMI cable around 30 Feet as there was no 4K 12 years ago. Also had to get a new receiver and a few more cables for other media devices. Now the setup once powered on was pain. BENQ should of made this simple but one has to play with this setting plus the remote etc. Finally after an hour of moving the project in X direction and playing with remote plus the lens on the project I got everything adjusted to my 120 inch screen. Since I am not using this for gaming I cannot rate that.
