> 24 hourThis was purchased to use in my 2018 Scamp 16 travel trailer. I did not realize an anode rod is NOT needed in a Scamp (IF) the hot water heater is an Atwood brand, they DO NOT use an anode rod because the inside of their tanks is made of different materials. If the hot water heater is the Suburan brand, they DO use an anode rod. (This information is directly from the Scamp service department).

> 24 hourUsed this in my 2005 Fleetwood Highlander Niagra and so far everything seems to be working as expected. Seemed to be well made and should do the job without issue.

> 24 hourGreat - fit my 6 gallon heater just fine. I removed it later to drain the tank and it is definitely doing it’s job.

> 24 hourBecause I have had problems with hydrogen sulfide smell in the hot water, I hyperchlorinated my whole system and then, removed my magnesium anode and replaced with this aluminum anode. Magnesium is more reactive than aluminum. My research suggested that I will get less of this bacterial reaction within the heater with aluminum. My wife will be much more apt to smile in the shower with less of the H2S smell. Sure hope that it makes a difference. It is at least worth the try.

> 24 hourGreat price and Amazon Prime make this a no brainer, the new camping season is about on top of us and just wanted to make sure that my hot water heater was protected. Well know at the end of the season when I pull it out to flush the tank and see how much the rod has taken care of the insides.

> 24 hourI had no idea that travel trailer heaters required the periodic replacement of these aluminum anodes until a friend told me. My trailer was five years old already, and the original anode was still in the heater. When I took the old anode out to put in this new one, I almost could not get it out. It had partially disintegrated while doing its work. The only problem with these anodes is the difficulty of installation. The round tip that goes back into the heater is long enough and heavy enough that holding it horizontal while you start to screw it in requires a bit of hand and wrench skills. I finally inserted the hex head into a hex socket and used my ratchet wrench to screw it in. Be sure to use plumbers pipe tape on the threads before you screw the unit in to prevent water leaks around the threads.
