This light switch cover is exactly what I needed to prevent my 3 year old from constantly turning the light switch by the couch on and off. I wasn’t sure if something like this existed but decided to look anyway and sure enough I find the perfect cover for it. I took one side off before installing as I honestly don’t want to have to grab a pencil or something small to toggle the switch every time I need to turn it off or on. Luckily my son hasn’t noticed that one side is missing. He’s not able to see it since the side I broke off is not facing the couch but still I’m glad he hasn’t observed me turning it on/off yet. I like that it comes with more than one. Mine came with 3 so if my son DOES figure out how to get to the side that is open I can just use a spare one and live with using something small to toggle the switch. Anyway here’s pics on how it looks. I’m very pleased. It took less than a minute to install.

I had a problem: my 90 year old mother fell and broke her arm. 10 days later her condo flooded - crack in inline water filter housing. On Christmas Day, we narrowly avoided adding frozen pipes to the list of calamities... wed been keeping the water shut off to her condo each time we left - turning it on only while we were there - and my brother-in-law turned off both light switches in the utility closet as he left with my husband. When my sister and I swung by later to pick up something after visiting our mother in rehabilitation, I noticed the condo was much colder than normal - not the balmy 75F my mother keeps it at. Checking the thermostat, the temperature had dropped 12 degrees. After a little more trouble-shooting, we discovered the switch to the furnace had been turned off ... it was the 2nd light switch, just to the right of the utility closest light switch. To be fair, there was a hand-written label that said furnace, only problem was that it was around the corner to the left and in a tight space just in front of the water heater. You have to look to see it. So - the inelegant interim fix was sticking a piece of tape over the light switch. You could still turn it off, but not by accident. This wall switch guard provides a much more elegant solution. There are side panels that you can break off, so you can still stick your finger through to trip the switch if you want to turn it off. But you wont do it by accident, and that was my goal. I printed off a label and attached it to a new cover plat. So, the next person that tries to turn off that switch by accident will feel the plastic guard, wonder what it is, and either leave the switch alone or look at the plate and see the label. No more accidents waiting to happen!

We bought it for our garbage disposal. Great to stop accidental switching on of garbage disposal by pets and small kids. If the disposal is on and running accidentally small feet of cats & dogs are in danger.

Im not talking about your cousin, but instead these awesome doohickies. As a gadget enthusiast who lives with the technologically challenged, I am constantly being bombarded with How do I do ___? or I think I broke your ___. These keep my treasured loved ones from messing with my smart lights and have saved me some serious money when compared to buying smart switches. Seconds to install with several lock out, single punch or dual punch options for access, Ive bought two sets so far and couldnt be happier. If you can operate a screwdriver, youre more than technically capable.

So happy to have discovered that these exist! Much better than a piece of clear tape. One of life’s little irritants is the 3 switches that control one outlet. This allows me to stop having to worry about something important getting turned off by accident.

Simple, easy to install, and it keeps us from accidentally turning off half our entertainment center by mistake. Also keeps little ones from turning on/off the switch.
