I use this plainly just for more reliable storage and it does exactly what I expect it to do. There is nothing wrong with this product, remember to initiate the drive in Windows with Disk Manager to assign the SSD a drive letter and such.

There are two NVME slots in my laptop and this drive disappears randomly when installed in either slot. It is only 3 months old and used for mostly static storage not a boot drive. My other off-brand Inland SSD works fine installed in either slot. So much for brand name drives being more reliable. At least, when it works, the data is accessible and it is decently fast. Now it is time to find out how good or bad the warranty support is for a nearly $200 drive with a random hard to diagnose problem.

Ive owned many ssds and not necessarily nvmes for a while. I have devices with them, but I used this drive to install in my brothers pc setup. After roughly 20-26 days, my brother experienced some very odd stuff. The drive would suddenly say it had used 900 gb/1 tb. Afterwards windows would prevent him from logging in and it threw an error stating he was typing the wrong pin. What it turned out to be was the beginning of a failing drive. After we reformatted and cloned the drive again from new, we again tried to use the drive. This time we went through multiple BSODs and never got into windows again. I tried a long time before I hated to admit this, but the drive failed. I tried to find like 20 other things as the issue until I decided to call it quits. So I had someone buy a new drive for us which I will not name at this time (otherwise its like I am shilling for another company). So far the other drive works perfectly and I doubt it will happen again, but if it crashes after 20-26 days, Ill be back here to raise the star rating. Overall, I bet the drive is great, but I wasted a lot of time and effort helping my brother which would have been nice if the drive did not fail. I will boost the rating if the new drive fails as then it would be fair, but at this state I believe I am being fair with the review.

This thing rocked the motherboard, it was fast. I just had it in my cart and my family member went ahead and bought it, so I gave it a try while putting in return order. But from the small amount of time I had with the Crucial P5 250GB 3D NAND NVMe Internal SSD, up to 3400MB/s - CT250P5SSD8 (adding that so they dont steal the review) I was super impressed with how fast it loaded FFXIV, The Division 2, Tom Clancys Breakpoint, and Fortnite.

Specs were as stated. Upgraded Dell laptop NVME 128gb to the Crucial P5 1tb worked perfectly. It does run hot though. Crystal Disk under load hit 75 C.... be aware. Didnt test the previous drive for temp. Couldve been similar. I would recommend a heat sink. Check clearances if in laptop. Extremely fast!

Installation goes easily if you are prepared. Do your homework, look for the best videos (lots of junk out there). Recognize what even the best videos gloss over and research those vague areas. Have a safe place to put all screws, neat workspace, good lighting. Get a caddy for copying over your old drive to the new one, so when you replace the old one you can use it in the caddy as an external SSD. Study how the copying process must be adapted to partitioning the old drive to its full available size. I love having a huge C drive, ended all my anxieties about the steady decrease in available space. Several computations now go much faster when they use the C drive for application data. Worth the investment and cheaper than buying a new laptop.

I did manage to grab the 1TB version for a really good price. For the price, it performs really well as you can see from the Crystal Disk Mark screenshot. I did install an EK heatsink on the drive, and the drive doesnt go above 54C when moving large chunk of data or benchmarking the drive. I would definitely grab another one soon !

I purchased this SSD to put in a portable M.2 case so I could have some additional portable storage. I dont get full speeds b/c of the case I purchased but they are still more than acceptable (1500 MB read/write). Once the prices come down for USB4/Thunderbolt cases I will upgrade and increase the rest of the speed of this drive. I havent had any issues with the drive at all. I chose this drive b/c I have had a great experience with Crucial drives in the past.
