05-04-2025The installation was easier than I expected, but I was not able to get the downloadable Acronis True Image software for Crucial to recognize the new drive while I was cloning the old SSD to the Crucial (I was using the Crucial in an external sidecar enclosure). I downloaded a freeware cloning software package that took care of that problem. Other than that, its currently in my Dell XPS 8920 and performing without any problems.

> 3 dayI use this plainly just for more reliable storage and it does exactly what I expect it to do. There is nothing wrong with this product, remember to initiate the drive in Windows with Disk Manager to assign the SSD a drive letter and such.

> 3 dayHonestly, after a couple of months and a couple of Linux kernel upgrades, this particular NVME SSD does not seem to work with Linux OSes. I was using it in the Framework laptop running Ubuntu 21.10, latest kernel 15.16 and but my OS did not wake up after sleep. This is the only key issue I had with this. For some reason, if your linux OS goes to sleep, it will have trouble waking up as it will not detect the SSD anymore requiring a hard reboot. This is also a well-reported issue within Framework, but it might be possible it affects other brands as well - as of the time of this writing there are no firmware updates on crucials website either. I have had to resort to the WD SN series and that fixed the sleep issue. Outside of this setback, your mileage may be better. Currently putting this in my PC Windows gaming desktop as extra storage instead. Overall good but not perfect for my situation.

Greater than one weekGood value for the money. The only issue with the drive that I can find is that it runs rather hot--even at idle. Since I installed the drive in a Dell Optiplex 7050 MT, I added a heat sink to it, and it dropped the temps 11 - 12C. Since adding the heat sink, the drive has not gone over 47C, which is reasonable. No throttling or freezing at that temperature. The performance, even over a SATA SSD, is exceptional.

> 3 dayVery fast drive once you turn on cache in the app. Boot time is a tiny bit better than a ssd. You still have to get past Bios and windows pre load junk. But once windows get past log in screen wow! This P5 flys, only thing i hope they fix in a bios update for the p5 is temps. I have mainboard heatsink on it and it still runs at 50c. Compaired to a slower Blue western digital drive that run 30c.

> 3 dayI am using this as external storage for my PS4 games on my PS5. The 1 TB size is perfect for me as I can store all of the games I am currently playing with room to spare. The drive seems to allow for very fast read and write speeds. I was able to transfer God of War in a little over a minute. I have experienced a game freeze while playing Miles Morales but I don’t believe it had anything to do with the drive as this game was uploaded to the PS5 internal SSD.

> 3 dayThis is my first M.2, upon reading reviews and doing a little research I decided on Crucial and I do NOT regret my decision!!! I’ll likely be picking up another one because what’s better than 1 2TB Crucial SSD??? 2 of them. I run my OS and my biggest game on mine. Use 2TB Seagate for storage.

> 3 dayVery fast! Replacing an SSd can be tricky - the cloning software provided worked, but resulted in two drives since the Crucial was twice the size of the original. It was easier for me to backup my system to a memory stick, replace the SSD with the new Crucial and then restore the system from the memory stick.

> 3 dayI ordered 1TB version of the SSD back in March 2021. I has been several months now, Ive been extensively using and sometimes utilizing every gigabyte of the SSD :D (of course I leave about 20% empty in order to get the best of it) I havent met any problems since I received it. I recommend to anyone who wants to buy but keeps thinking about disadvantages as I was back in March

> 3 dayThis is a great SSD that tends to get overshadowed by other SSDs. Its easy to install into your pc, pretty much just plug and play. Its great for gaming as youll get better and faster load times, its also great for transferring and downloading files as youll be able to half the amount of time or possibly even more.
