Just buy a fluke, they really one of the multi meters out there

This is the perfect meter for carrying around with my laptop. Its small enough that I can take it with me anywhere, and rugged enough that I dont have to worry about stuffing it in my bag.

Great meter and I am sure it will keep me safe in what electrical and hobby use I do at home. I have other meters for low voltage work, but not one for working in electric panels and higher amp work. The fluke 117 fits my needs and its better to be safe than sorry. I only wish they would have supplied a soft carrying case like most other meter dealers do, but that being said Ill find a work around.

Cheap wiring for test probes..

I am an electrical engineer and have been using this meter for about six weeks so far. I am very happy that I didnt settle for a no-name meter. Build quality seems excellent. No complaints about the display readability and the backlight is fine. The LoZ feature for AC volts is essential for many applications. The leads that come with it are pretty stiff, so I am glad that I also bought the 175E silicone leads. I can also recommend the Aenllosi Hard Protective Case, since the 117 doesnt come with one.

Its a Fluke! Had one decades ago and it got stolen. Couldnt afford another replacement Fluke, so bought a Radio Shack digital meter (their top of the line back then) that had transistor, frequency and capacitor testing. After almost 30 years, it finally started falling apart, literally!
