    Greater than one week

FIRST IMPRESSIONS These sacks are slightly thicker than other brands Ive used. They seem less likely to puncture, leak and tear. Many 13 gallon trash sacks are (inadequate) .7-.8 mil thickness- these are .91 mil. I appreciate the fact that, as a couple other reviews noted, there is no plastic smell when you open these bags either in the box or open them for use. The handles take some getting used to compared to tie end or draw strings bags. They allow more contents piled on top of the bag and close up much more easily. However, the handles seem to stretch slightly even under ordinary weight. While I like the efficiency and the easy close-up of these bags, Im not sure about durability. At their lowest price, $35+ for 270, they seem slightly overpriced- they are, after all, only thin sheets of bundled plastic, spooled on themselves, no drawstrings, etc. Four stars based on initial impressions. To be five, they may need to be more like 1 mill thick and cost .10 each in bulk- but well see how they hold up. UPDATE 60 DAYS: After several weeks of using these bags, I can say they are better than any I have used before. While I still wish they were a bit thicker and had reinforced handles, these have not leaked once. They have punctured in the midsection though, several times. But the winning feature here is the easy close-up handles on top that ties to hold the garbage in place. This feature comfortably allows an extra 15 percent or so of garbage bag contents, piled up on top. I also really appreciate there is no chemical odor with these bags. Five stars. UPDATE 2 YEARS: Very good bags. I especially like the tie-up handles that allow one to pile on about 15% more garbage on top. The bags have only leaked a couple of times, but they have leaked a couple of times. The leak is not at the orange seam at the bottom- that is reinforced well. It is right above that area, in the midsection, where the bag is slightly weak. While thicker than most, they stretch at the handles a little too much. Im moving the rating from five to four stars only because they need to be a little thicker mil for five stars.... Increase the thickness from .91 to 1.0mil or more, that will also make the handles a little stronger and worthy of FIVE STARS. FINAL UPDATE 2.5 YEARS LATER: They made these bags 1.02 mils! The added thickness from .91 to 1.02 mils is a marginal thickness increase but one that has noticeably increased the strength, particularly of the midsection area. Also, it seems the handles are slightly stronger and less prone to stretching. Its possible they made the handles slightly wider, but they now pinch a little less when holding. Its great- a company listens and improves. And these are made in the USA. While the bags are expensive, if you buy the large pack, 270 size, the cost drops way down to about 11cents each. A good product is now a great one- Im upgrading the rating to FIVE STARS!

It was always an ordeal to find garbage can liners that were actually tall enough not to get pulled down into the can the first time anything was thrown in. These liners are long enough, very strong, water tight, and are easily lifted out with strong handles. Liquid from coffee grounds, etc., will not escape the bag to mess up the can. They are not scented, which I like. They are the best garbage can liners I have found.

Finally a no stink, decent weight, tall kitchen garbage bag! The handles are a bit clunky but they are very sturdy. I am tired of all the offensive perfumes manufacturers put in products. They are so strong that they even leach into supposedly non-scented products stored near them. Man made scents are toxic to the human body. Trying to cover up an unpleasant ordor with another irritating chemical is contributing to the higher rates of people with allergies and asthma. This product is a good way to start detoxifying yourself. Update: We have used these for several weeks now and can honestly say these are the best kitchen bags we have ever used. Since I am in my late 60’s and my husband is in his 70’s, thats a long time. My husband is stingy and would always refuse to double line our garbage pail. Consequently, the older thinner bags we once used would leak and I would have to clean up the mess. Not so with the current bags! They do not leak and the design is such that taking them out of the pail is easy. I originally didnt know if I would like the tail ties but I am a believer now. So easy to carry and they dont cut into my skin. Please dont ever go out of business without letting me know so I can buy a case.

Bar none, these trash bags are simply exquisite. If you have a trash can with specially-fitted bags, those *might* be better for those specific cans, but these ones are absolutely show-stopping in every other case. The bottom of the bag is very heavily reinforced, to the point where I havent even once been worried about it busting even when holding 30+ pounds of garbage, and the handles are quite comfortable (especially compared to standard drawstring bags). Absolute recommendation, these are the bags you want.

Edited note: I have bought these again. Im so very pleased with these trash bags. A 45 count box lasts me for a few months because I can fit so much trash into ONE bag. Im still convinced these are the best trash bags on the planet. These are the best trash bags, EVER!! I hate trash bags that dont open right, dont set in the trash can correctly, and always fall in the minute I throw garbage in the can. Every trash bag Ive ever used, all those popular brands you find on the shelfs at the stores, have always had to be readjusted to let the air out that gets trapped between the bag and the trashcan. Then the same bags claim to be tough and yet, tear through. Also, the handles, both the pull strap and the non-pull strap always tear or break, always!! I love how these bags open wide and set right down in the garbage can. They dont need to have air let out, they dont need to be pushed down in the bottom when I first put them in the can. The handles lay over and hug the outside and, the bag doesnt sink in when I throw trash in. I have purposely overloaded and pushed as much garbage as I can into the bag to test the strength. I have not had one tear yet, not a single one!! The handles are nice and strong and wide and tie over each other to hold the garbage in, so nice and no struggle involved! They pull out of the trash can easily, too. I dont have to fight with the push and pull and griping at the trash bag when trying to pull it out when its full. I had requested a sample of these from some freebie site awhile back, and I was hooked!! Im glad Hippo Sak has them in stock on Amazon, and they are reasonably priced. The ones you find on the shelf at the stores are definitely overpriced, as they do not stand up to the test. These Hippo Sak Trash Bags need to be THE ONLY bag on the market!! They put any other bag to shame!! If these ever go out of style Im going to throw a fit!! Thank you Hippo Sak for creating a trash bag that is hassle free, self explanatory in opening, one that lets me stuff the heck out of it, and one that ties with ease. I would never have dreamed I would be so ecstatic over a garbage bag! But garbage bags are a necessity, and no pun intended but its great to find a trash bag that Im not throwing money away on!!

I thought I only liked drawstrings, but these are far better. GREAT quality. Clean white color - UNSCENTED. Handles are easy to grab. These do not snag or tear. So strong ! I dont understand why these arent the most popular bags on the market. LOVE THEM!!

Weve always had a 13-gallon trash can in our kitchen and never really had any size issues with trash bags until about a year ago my son (our households garbage guy) and I noticed that no matter what (common) brand of trash bag I would purchase, the weight of the trash - even a small amount of trash - would cause the entire too-short bag to be pulled off the rim of the can and down into the trash can. No matter what brand I would purchase (Hefty, Glad, store-brand, off-brand, etc.) we would continue to have the same problem with the bag being too short/shallow and falling down into the can. I had never considered purchasing such a basic and common household item as trash bags online, but I was so frustrated I decided to see what I could find on Amazon. I decided to try the Hippo Sak Handle Trash Bags because of the great reviews and these bags did not disappoint! They are plenty long for our 13-gallon can, and we have never had a Hippo Sak trash bag split, tear or break on us. Also the REAL handles (vs. drawstring-type handles) are perfect for securely tying up a full bag of trash, and are plenty strong and comfortable to use for hauling away. The only thing that would make these bags better in (my opinion) is if they were scented or had a scent blocker for stinky garbage. Finally, the price for these bags is very competitive compared to other common brands, therefore I will continue to purchase Hippo Sak trash bags for my household!
