Greater than one weekThis wool works well on rusted chrome, especially with some 3m chrome paste. It doesnt scratch like some steel wool can. Only negative is that it it gets used up pretty fast and isnt cheap.

> 3 dayI purchased this because it was recommended to be used with Borlas exhaust system polish to help remove heavy oxidation and light rust. It works fantastic! I first clean the stainless steel with an all purpose spray cleaner/polish, then use the Borla product with the fine bronze wool to buff out all the nasty stuff. It does a great job of removing everything but the shine. Plus, the package has enough wool for many applications. I highly recommend this for any of your steel polishing needs.

> 3 dayI bot this bronze wool because I was concerned that the steel wool would discolor some wood projects when using water based products over it due to risk for rust with flecks of the steel. This bronze wool did help with that but it seemed to fall apart quite easily and not last very long. I may try another brand next time I need some.

> 3 dayThis was perfect for removing hard to remove rust from a semi-soft metal item that I didnt want to scratch. Between this and #0000 steel wool I was able to remove 90% of the rust. There are still a few rough spots that are really rusted but I had no visible scratches even after hard scrubbing. It also holds up for a while when using.

> 3 dayThe pads are thin and break up easily. The last time I bought bronze wool it was well worth the money as the pads were hefty and really lasted. I used one pad up really quickly oil buffing a door handle and thumb latch. The finished product is awesome so my idea an technique were fine but the disintegrating pad and fine bronze particles were kind of a pain but wiped up easily. The other two I used up rapidly cleaning ceramic tiles. Again the tiles are great. But the pads were gone very fast.

> 3 dayWorked well enough. Little bit more expensive than steel wool, but worth it depending what you are working on. Used for firearm conservation.

Greater than one weekI hate working with steel wool because it rusts so quickly. If youre using steel wool to remove the finish on wood, little bits of rusty steel can get into the wood and ruin the surface. I was very excited to find out that there was such as thing as bronze wool and immediately bought some to try. Ive used it in my furniture refinishing projects for several months now and also to remove rust on metal. Ive also started using it in place of kitchen steel wool pads, which become quickly become too rusty to use. Bronze is softer than steel, so bronze wool scratches less than steel wool of a comparable grade. Overall, bronze wool is a big improvement over steel wool for many applications, and Ive already ordered more of the fine as well as some of the coarse grade. The only reasons for giving docking it a star are: 1) its much more expensive than steel wool (yes, I would expect it to be more expensive, but IMO its disproportionately so, although the price has come down since my original order) 2) because its a soft metal, tiny fragments break off and can make a mess. Note: Bronze wool comes in fine (this one), medium, and coarse grades. I havent seen the medium grade anywhere, but Ive ordered the coarse grade and will post a review after Ive had a chance to work with it. Heres a link the coarse grade in case anyone wants to compare:

> 3 dayVery happy with the purchase. Im planning on using this with experiments on Stirling engine pistons and like that this is a very fine wool that wont rust up like steel wool does.

> 3 dayI like the bronze fine wool pads. I dont have to worry about them rusting.
