Who reviews bronze wool, for gosh sakes. I bought this stuff to remove lead from gun barrels after using target lead loads, and it is utterly fantastic in that regard. If you shoot, get some, wrap a pinch around your nylon bore brush and look at the shiny bore it leaves. You wont be sorry.

Great for scouring, rust removal, and polishing wood. Less aggressive than steel wool, wont scratch blued guns (if oil is used), and doesnt leave behind little rusting fibers of steel in your fine woodworking!

Bought this because I have an old 22 cal. revolver that someone gave me years ago that I had just tossed in a drawer....Found it one day, and it was all covered with surface rust...Not the deep pitting kind, just heavy outside rust. Got a lot of advise on how to get the rust off, but because of expense, I decided to do the job myself......All of the steel wool I have ever used was a royal pain in the butt...fine metal shavings everywhere, doesnt hold up, and of course the horrible rust it gets after you leave it in your tool box. Got this item and it was just what I needed...Took my time rubbing the metal parts of the revolver, and didnt get any shavings or metal dust as I would have with the steel wool.....It also seems to hold up better that the steel version......When I was done, the revolver looked like a different weapon......All the rust gone, and no metal residue left on it and inside the mechanism. Looked around everywhere to try to purchase it locally (wanted it in a hurry), but couldnt find it....In conclusion, there is no comaprison between this Bronze Wool, and regular steel wool. I live in Florida near the water, and EVERYTHING made of metal rusts....When I would use regular steel wool on anything, it left a mess and I would have to throw it away afterwards, because if it got wet it would turn into a blob of rust....Not with this bronze wool. It is expensive, but more than worth the price.....I can actually rinse it off from use, and it can be used again....In the long run, the cost is comparable because you arent throwing the pad out after every use. My only complaint is that I couldnt get different sizes. Oh, and by the way, you dont get the little metal slivers in your fingers like you get with the steel wool.

I hate working with steel wool because it rusts so quickly. If youre using steel wool to remove the finish on wood, little bits of rusty steel can get into the wood and ruin the surface. I was very excited to find out that there was such as thing as bronze wool and immediately bought some to try. Ive used it in my furniture refinishing projects for several months now and also to remove rust on metal. Ive also started using it in place of kitchen steel wool pads, which become quickly become too rusty to use. Bronze is softer than steel, so bronze wool scratches less than steel wool of a comparable grade. Overall, bronze wool is a big improvement over steel wool for many applications, and Ive already ordered more of the fine as well as some of the coarse grade. The only reasons for giving docking it a star are: 1) its much more expensive than steel wool (yes, I would expect it to be more expensive, but IMO its disproportionately so, although the price has come down since my original order) 2) because its a soft metal, tiny fragments break off and can make a mess. Note: Bronze wool comes in fine (this one), medium, and coarse grades. I havent seen the medium grade anywhere, but Ive ordered the coarse grade and will post a review after Ive had a chance to work with it. Heres a link the coarse grade in case anyone wants to compare:

Very nice product. Used these for guitar building, my Tele is happier for the non rusting and very smooth feel of these. In fact steel wool caused a blue stain during my finishing and this Bronze Wool did a great job to buff it out, easily.
