Acid dye only works on certain types of yarn or cloth - protein fibres, so silk, wool, cashmere, nylon. It wont dye rayon, cotton or polyester or any of those - but jacquard acid dyes work really well on the fibres they are made for. I use white vinegar for the acid and have no problems at all - this black is the black of night - and can be mixed with other colours to make them darker. Perfect.

I have a front loading machine so I could not adjust the amount of water. I think with less water, I would have gotten more color and the product would have gotten another star. All things considered, a very good result.
