I purchased this fan because of Lasko name even though it was a little more expensive. When it arrived the box appeared to have been opened prior to arriving so I was a little suspicious that it had been returned and then reshipped. However when I plugged it in, it worked great. It was very quiet for a high velocity fan. After using it for a couple of days it began making a loud whining noise. The noise is not constant, it comes and goes. If I turn off the fan for while it will run fine for a couple of hours before making the noise. The longer I use the fan the louder the noise gets. I have tried repositioning the fan without sucess. The noise is coming from the motor so I figure it will go out soon. I have a cheap no name high velocity fan that is a little louder (air noise) but works much better. I am very disappointed with the sub par quality of this Lasko one. I would recommend not wasting your money. It might be a one off but I am not going to spend more money to test that.

If you want a really powerful fan that can be used inside your house as a floor fan, this 20” Lasko model is much better than the plastic version.

Needed a fan for small space. Didnt want a small high speed noisy one with lots of wind blast. Decided to buy large fan & slow it down so it would move air quietly without wind blast. Slowest setting is still too fast. Purchased a fan speed controller in hopes of slowing even more. See photo. Worked perfectly. Plugged fan into this controller. Set both to slowest speed. Fan very quiet yet still moves sufficient amount of air with much less blast.

This fan is awesome! Definitely keeps the air flowing and keeps you cool!

Bought to replace old floor fan same size. Thought would be very powerful for cooling the house. The motor just not as powerful as older models. High on this model is like a cross between low and medium compared to old model. Other than that good fan.

Using to direct air into the Shop attic to help dry out musty, damp odors following a wet winter. I let it run about 6 hours a day 7-days a week on Low. Not overly noisy but not whisper quiet either.

It does not have a remote control, and I dont move it around, but I can work for extended time periods and not be annoyed by either the unit sound or any vibration from inbalance. It just does its job. Quietly, relatively speaking.

This fan is durable, versatile, has three settings, great/high air flow on those sticky hot summer days and nights. I live in a 2nd floor apt wit no shade, or cooling units and the only other fan we have is non existent. This is the only thing that got us through last summer’s heat waves. As well as this summer as well. I just need this fan, an ice cold drink… and I end up having to turn it Trojan bee cause i get too chilled if I add anything else “cooling” (drink, wet bandanna, or even a water bottle for spritzing). I love the rotation angles for various air flow scenarios. I love the pedestal/metal mount design of its base. It has fallen, been knocked over, had a power surge hit it without it being protected and it’s still kicking! I even had my grandson drop a remote control into it as it was on huh (no one was hurt). But the fan and the blades were not effected in the least. I didnt need tools that I don’t own to open it. It has secure metal clamps all the way around a the perimeter to open the fan to clean (or fetch remote controls) or do a quick dusting of. This is amazing.

Purchased this for a poorly ventilated room in the home I am renting until I can afford a mortgage alongside my student loan debt. I couldn’t be happier with the performance of the fan. The room in question is roughly 85 degrees Fahrenheit and thanks to this fan I barely notice when I’m cranking away on my computer. Many people complain about the noise but I don’t mind it and don’t typically even notice it most of the time. Admittedly that could be down to a lifetime spent with the white noise of a fan in the background. Overall it’s a sturdily built machine, with great air flow and I’m much more confident in this fan versus the plastic Lasko units. I’m of two minds about the lack of a remote control, one one hand it would be a nice convenience. On the other it’s just another failure point and getting up from your seat every now and again is good for you.
