> 3 dayFor me, this was a toss up between two and three stars. It isnt junk but it definitely isnt great either. The 4 1/2 star ratings are a little confusing to me but I suppose if someone else is used to $25 plastic box fans this fan is built like a tank and blows air like a tornado. Like some others providing reviews on this, Ive been using two old 20 Lakewood fans for many, many years but theyre out of business now. Id have been happier paying twice as much as the Lasko price for a replacement like the Lakewood but just couldnt find one even at triple the Lasko cost. I still have one functional 20 Lakewood so comparisons to the Lasko arent based on memory alone. The Lakewood definitely has a far greater air movement. This new Lasko has essentially the same CFM ratings as the Lakewood but its not even close to the same output; not CLOSE. Id estimate the Lasko is at least 30% weaker than the 20 Lakewood but its definitely not as strong with a much smaller motor and less aggressive fan blade design. Im very skeptical of the CFM rating on the Lasko. The Lasko fan is relatively quiet on high and medium but sometimes has an annoying howl or whine on low. This is a significant noise, not a minor, gotta listen for it kind of noise. It comes and goes but is mostly there on low. The complaint about the howling noise is in some other reviews as well. Blade balance and grille design are very good. No vibration at all in mine. I had to remove the blade guard to repair the swivel tensioner and the grille was easy to remove and replace. The rubber swivel tension brackets are junk. My fan just wouldnt tilt and stay in place. Trying to tighten the lock nuts to fix that caused the thin sheet metal bracket holding the square shank bolt to break....the bracket is REALLY thin and completely inadequate. So, I took the factory, square shank 8mm bolt out and used a regular 5/16 bolt, two washers and a 5/16 nylon insert lock nut (aka nylok) to fix that connection. The remaining factory tension bolt bracket is also cracked out but one decent bolt in the other bracket is enough to make the tilt function okay. Those factory, square shank bolts are also poor quality. The metal is very, very soft. All of this is typical; cheap Chinese fasteners in thin, soft metal brackets. Thats a bad combination. The fix is simple but shouldnt be necessary. The included wall mount bracket for this fan is very good. Its also fairly light weight metal but completely adequate for the job. Its easy to install and very convenient for hanging or removing the fan from the wall. The switch for the fan is well placed and is especially convenient when the fan is wall mounted. With a larger electric motor, more aggressive blades and better swivel mount brackets it would be a five star product. Lasko should make the fan in that configuration and charge twice as much, it would be a better value.

Greater than one weekPurchased this for a poorly ventilated room in the home I am renting until I can afford a mortgage alongside my student loan debt. I couldn’t be happier with the performance of the fan. The room in question is roughly 85 degrees Fahrenheit and thanks to this fan I barely notice when I’m cranking away on my computer. Many people complain about the noise but I don’t mind it and don’t typically even notice it most of the time. Admittedly that could be down to a lifetime spent with the white noise of a fan in the background. Overall it’s a sturdily built machine, with great air flow and I’m much more confident in this fan versus the plastic Lasko units. I’m of two minds about the lack of a remote control, one one hand it would be a nice convenience. On the other it’s just another failure point and getting up from your seat every now and again is good for you.

> 3 dayAs I write this review Im being cooled and blown away by this powerful fan. Even on the lowest of the 3 speeds this fan moves a lot of air. Solidly built and well designed, Ive purchased 2 of these fans and will probably purchase more.

> 3 dayIn Western Washington, most residential buildings, including my own, do not include air conditioning of any sort. So I needed a fan that could circulate air throughout an entire home. The Lasko 2265QM does that job well for the most part. Positioned properly, it can blow in cool air from shaded areas outside, and provide a pleasant breeze pretty much anywhere. When the temperature gets especially high, sitting in front of the fan provides instant and persistent relief. The three speed settings can be described as high, higher and hurricane. There simply isnt a lot of nuance. Even on the lowest setting, this fan can cycle all the air in a typical bedroom within a minute. Other reviews have commented on the volume of the fan. They are all correct, and you should heed their warnings. I initially shrugged them off, but after getting the fan, I really was surprised by how loud it could be. At full speed, the Lasko 2265QM will sound not unlike a small propeller driven aircraft at idle throttle. The lower settings do little to reduce the noise, and mostly just change the pitch of sound. The overall construction of the fan is decent. Attaching the stand and control box was trivial and didnt require much effort. The front grill can be removed, but there should be no reason to do this. The control box is the only thing that feels like it was cheaply made. But its good enough that it shouldnt be an issue throughout the useful life of the fan. The motor is housed within a plastic shroud, although it appears that under the shroud is a metal casing for the motor itself. I noticed that the plastic motor shroud can get hot during sustained operation. Not to the point where Im concerned it could catch fire. But hot enough for me to be weary of touching it when the fan has been on for awhile. If placed on an uneven surface, the force of the air being blown can cause the fan to topple. It would be nice if the stand had a bit more depth, but this is only problematic if the fan is placed on a soft or uneven surfaces. I get a lot of use out of this fan, but I prefer to only use for about an hour at a time, especially at night when I have the chance to circulate cool air into my room. Anything longer than an hour though, and I prefer to use a quieter fan. Pros: - Can quickly circulate the air in a room - Can provide modest ventilation for a home - Sturdy construction - Easy assembly - Works as advertised Cons: - It really is loud. - Cheap control box - Motor shroud can get hot - Stand my not work well on soft/uneven surfaces - Little difference between speed settings

> 3 dayHaving lived in large homes and having had every convenience at times in my life, I never thought Id need to depend on a fan to survive. Heres my story. We got this fan to powerfully move air through are tiny studio apartment because our evil upstairs neighbors chain smoke 18 hours a day and it seeps into our apartment from gaps in the walls and ceiling around the fixtures. It also comes in the front door from what escapes from their large front window and in the back door from them smoking on the patio. What a nightmare! It was quickly destroying my health and hurting my sons health too. So, we used tape and plastic sheeting to imperfectly seal up all the gaps we could find. As soon as we sealed up one, the fumes would find their way inside our apartment from another gap. The one we couldnt beat was the gap above the hard-wired smoke detector. Even if we bought our own smoke detector and sealed the provided one, it would hinder the ability to alert other people in the building if we had a fire in our apartment. So, we felt we couldnt seal that one. The apartment manager is a slumlord and essentially told me to Eat $%^ and Die--or move out if I dont like it. (This is a federally funded senior apartment building though we pay the full rate.) She, and, I presume, the management company are Satans spawn. My eyes became red and crusty, my lungs felt shrunken and beaten up, my sinuses and throat felt inflamed and crackly dry. Our apartment smelled like an ashtray, and we both were so full of nicotine that we were agitated and couldnt sleep. Two doctors wrote letters about how this is destroying my health, but the management became more aggressive and called into question my worthiness as a human being. I am a teacher and a community volunteer. All my life Ive been told Im too nice. This was supposed to be a safe haven during the pandemic while we restarted our business, but its become our personal hell. Where we live, its nearly impossible during the pandemic to find anything affordable as this area has become a refuge for city dwellers. My sons job is nearby and we need to stay as his job is very secure. So, I bought a three hundred dollar air cleaner that sounded like it could fight off the fumes and smoke. While its probably good for most people with allergies or who have occasional smoke getting into their homes, it couldnt begin to keep up with the toxins in this place. I didnt mention that every surface in the place other than the fixtures, floor and doorknobs had been heavily sprayed with very high VOC paint, including the insides of all the cabinets, closets and drawers. The fumes were so bad that it reflexively step back when I open a cabinet after living here for two months. Its eased, but its still surprisingly strong. Id used a window fan to try to blow in fresh air when the air was fresh out the back door, but it wasnt powerful enough to do much. Even with everything but the smoke alarm sealed up, our place was full of rank smoke and fumes. Finally, in desperation, I did more internet research and saw the words high velocity fan, and went to fan ratings, Amazon (with Fakespot activated) and so on to find something to blast the air through my apartment. I kept being pointed to this fan, and I am so glad I did. 90% of the time, even when there is air that wants to come in the front door with lots of second-hand smoke, and even when fumes want to come in the smoke detector gaps, if I have this fan on high at the open back door and the small two 9-inch-fan unit under the smoke detector blowing toward the front door so that air doesnt get bypassed, I cant smell any smoke and dont have lung or eye irritation except from the lack of humidity and the air flow which has to be constant. I have made a sort of privacy barrier at the open front door so air mostly goes out at the very bottom and about a foot of the top of the barrier but can leave through the full height of the door once it gets past that. I did that to create a bit of positive pressure in the apartment to discourage the smoke detector gap fumes from coming in. This fan is so powerful that even when the guy is smoking on the balcony upstairs, the full strength of the smoke doesnt fill up my tiny back yard and roll into my apartment because the fan literally pulls air from between the wood privacy fence boards. I know this because I had some T-shirts hanging all round the inside of that tiny fenced area to dry, not wanting to risk a laundromat in this pandemic. They were ALL fluttering. I turned the fan off, and the fluttering stopped. I turned it back on and it resumed. So, the fence is 12 feet beyond my security screen door in the back, and I had the fan blowing air in, sitting on top of two storage bins just inside the security screen door. That allowed fresh air to come in and mix with whatever smoke was coming from the balcony so that what was blown through the apartment was diluted and the blown right out the front. I hate any cigarette smoke at all and am very sensitive to it, but that situation was far better than what I had before. It also blew out whatever was coming in from inside the apartment, except some from the corner where the smoke detector was. Blowing those fumes toward the front door took care of that by not allowing it to build up and be helping it join the exiting air from the back and go out the front. This fan is also good when I humidify this tiny apartment to help sooth my irritated eyes and lungs. I run the shower on cold water since its included in the rent and they wont just seal up the &*^% gaps. The powerful fan blows on the fine spray shower water which helps it humidify the air. The carbon monoxide detector keeps going off, presumably because its 9 years old. We replaced the batteries but it still goes off every once in a while and then stops. Even if we go outside and stand there for a while away from the building it goes off. So, its undependable at best. Running this fan full blast 24/7 helps give me some added safety in case there is any CO in here. Of course there is, because cigarette smoke fumes include carbon monoxide and it builds up in our walls and ceiling. Theres not telling if its coming from the stove though they say its fairly new. Its not brand new. I am thinking of buying another CO detector as the slumlord wont do anything, which is probably illegal. At any rate, we keep this on all the time. When we turned it off for an hour yesterday to enjoy some quiet, the place gradually started smelling like smoke again. With this fan, I am able to greatly reduce the effect of the smoke and cigarette smoke fumes when there is any fresh air nearby outdoors. Thats important as I was unable to work, sleep normally, or breathe well before I got this. Why dont we just move out? Remember, theres nowhere to go without paying a lot more. We did return the costly air cleaner as it would slowly remove smoke but then would shoot out air that smelled heavily of cigarette fumes, even when the air was clear. Because of the smoke detector gap, we cant just close the doors against outside smoke. So, this is keeping us well enough to be able to work to make the money to get out. I cant believe the negligence of the slumlord is legal. Now, this fan is strong, nothing like your typical household fan meant for cooling you, creating light white noise, or circulating air. It doesnt oscillate and to change the position you have to use a wrench to loosen and tighten. I put a plastic drinking glass between the bottom and the front lip of the storage bin I have this fan sitting on to make it blow straight in rather than slightly up. Im not installing the bracket or doing more as I have no intention of investing in anything here or setting up permanently. As soon as we find a place, were out of here. So, this fan is strong, and, even on low, its loud. However, even with the small fan on high near us at the front, about 22 feet from the back where this fan is, we can still work with clients by video chat. It did take some getting used to sleeping with the noise and working with the noise. Its nothing Id want to do forever, but its a lifesaver and its much less costly than an air cleaner for this size of space. After we move, well have a really high end air cleaner as soon as we save the money for it. We dont want to spend the money now as we want that to go toward a better apartment. But, well still use this fan to clear air fast. You see, its cool here at night, but buildings can hold a lot of heat. When we move into a 2BR 2BA apartment, upstairs for safety and the view, well turn off the AC when it cools off outside, open all the windows and set up this fan in the living room, blowing cool air in so the air can gently flow out of our bedroom, other living room and dining room windows. If necessary, well close the other living room and dining room windows so all the air will flow out our bedroom windows so well be cool. This is a sturdy fan. While one reviewer said it was flimsy compared to the old version he had from years ago, its heavy and sturdy. Im very happy with this fan and highly recommend it. If the noise bothers you, consider ear plugs or using earbuds for media. Or, just put it in another room to create the air flow, either blowing air out and sucking it in from where you are quietly or blowing air in where the fan is and letting it exit out the windows near you. This fan can help you do away with AC when the temperature is not too hot or when the outside air is cool but your house is still hot. This fan also does quick work drying clothes and it can blow excess moisture out of your house too. So, in the pandemic, if you have to wash your clothes in the bathtub and dry them inside so your manager doesnt see, use this. Just protect the floor and keep this away from the moisture or any water on the floor. Dont touch it when your hands are wet. If you can take precautions, this can help you make it through tough circumstances. In summary, this fan is helping us avoid the worst of the poisonous paint and cigarette smoke fumes we are cursed with in the slummy senior apartment we thought would be a little refuge during the pandemic while we relaunched our business. Its unrealistic for us to stay here, but its given us a chance to be healthy enough to work so we can make the money we need to make to move to a better apartment or rental home. I suspect well have this fan for years and use it for drying painted furniture outdoors, drying hand wash in a pinch, cooling our home, and cooling a garage or outdoor storage shed while working in there. Its also very cooling. Just take a cool shower and go stand several feet in front of it with wet hair, and youll feel so much cooler than before. Another thing weve done is to set several large bottles of frozen water a few feet in front of this on a towel to collect condensation so no puddle form and then let that blow from the cold bottles toward us. It helps. (It also helps to set one of the frozen bottles on your lap with clothing between you and the bottles.)

> 3 dayI just received the Lasko. This fan is not as powerful as my Powermax High Velocity fan I got for about $20 cheaper at Walmart a year ago. That doesnt mean that the Lasko is not a good fan. But Ive been running my Powermax for 10 hrs. in the daytime and for about 8 hours thru the night and wanted a second fan so Id be less likely to burn out either fan motor from running that long by itself. The Lasko is a little louder than the Powermax but the noise doesnt bother me, especially at night. Ill probably run the Lasko at night since its the loudest, and the Powermax in the daytime so I can hear the TV. :) The 3 Lasko fan speeds are not much different from each other. You will notice only a slight fan speed jump from the first speed to the 2nd, and the 2nd to the 3rd. However, the lowest Powermax speed is more powerful than the highest Lasko speed. Im afraid to use the 3rd speed on the Powermax for fear it might just take off. Its super loud. But the wind it blows just doesnt go very far beyond the fan, maybe 10 feet? Sounds a lot more powerful than it is. Maybe they just need to tweek the blades? The test as to whether or not I keep the Lasko will be tonight when I touch the motor to see if it has gotten hot after running for at least 8 hours. Ill let you know. The Powermax motor does get hot but Ive not run it continually more than 10 hours at a time. My only complaints with the Powermax are that the motor does get hot after hours of use, and there is NO brand name anywhere on the model. I didnt know what it was until I found it in the description online at Walmart. The Lasko should meet the needs of almost anyone needing a powerful fan. It gets good reviews and it seems to be reliable, lasting for a long time. So of course I would recommend it. Oh...my new Lasko is the black one and its a good looking fan. And it couldnt be simpler to set up. Itll take you about 30 seconds. You only need to snap on the legs and screw in the Dial that sits on the leg. (I wish these guys would put the Dial on the top of the fan.) Im just using it as a floor fan. So....after Ive tested the Lasko motor to see if it gets hot after many hours of use, Ill come back and let you know. Edit: It looks like you could run this Lasko fan 24/7 and it wont ever get hot. Ive very pleased about that but... Be WARNED....there is a metal part that sticks out on the left side as youre facing the fan and Ive got a nice bloody gash on my calf as a result of walking past it in the night. The metal piece is about as high as eye level for a medium sized dog so just be aware of that and do what you can to cover that part with something so it cant do damage to animals and humans. :)
