> 24 hourThis is a review for the LG 34GP83A. I saved up for months to get an ultrawide curved and Im enamored with the quality that LG has delivered. Shopping for a monitor is a really confusing endeavor - the naming scheme is bonkers, its hard to understand what combination of specifications meet your needs, and theres seemingly no satisfactory quality control. That last point is crucial. Youre spending top dollar on a screen that may have dead pixels, backlight bleed, stuttering, flickering, cracks, chips, or any dozen other imperfections. And some companies wont offer you a replacement because they allot a certain number of factory imperfections. It makes you feel like youre gambling. Its ridiculous. Ill make this as simple as I can for those of you like me who are only looking for a monitor to game on. This monitor runs at 144 Hz at 1440p, which is the current sweet spot for gaming. There are higher resolutions out there, but most games arent optimized to run at this many frames per second at 4k. As someone who has owned a max 60 FPS 1080p monitor for the past decade, the upgrade is tremendous. Games run so beautifully smooth, like nothing youve seen before. Just be sure to enable your monitor because out-of-the-box they dont run at the advertised refresh rate. On Windows 10, go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties and click on the Monitor tab to choose 144 Hz. You also need to use the included display port cable. 21:9 is the aspect ratio which is what defines the ultrawide experience. Most movies are filmed in a 21:9 ratio (hence the black bars). I find it absolutely incredible at immersing me into the game. Not all games are supported at 21:9, in which case youll play with vertical black bars on either side, which is not a problem at all since the game itself still runs beautifully. For games that are supported, though...hoo-boy, I can never go back. I primarily play empire-building and RTS-style games. Games like Total War: Warhammer 2, Age of Empires II, Frostpunk, Civilization V, and XCOM 2 were meant to be played on a screen like this. As soon as you get your monitor make sure to run a dead pixel check using sites like lcdtech.info. NOTE: WIPE YOUR MONITOR WITH A MICROFIBER BEFORE TESTING. I want to let the world know that Im an idiot who thought that three motes of dust were dead pixels. At this price point, there should be no excuse for factory imperfections and you deserve the monitor you paid for. In summary, this monitor makes me happy to come home from work every day. I enthusiastically recommend it.

> 24 hourJust like you, I was afraid, $800 isnt cheap for me. Some people in the reviews here seem upset specially about dead pixels, but I ended up going with this one monitor (lg 34gp83a-b) because of all the good specs it has on paper. After more than a month of usage I can tell you that Im in love with it. I spend hours daily working with it and its not exhausting at all. The higher refresh rate, curved screen, pixel density and excellent colors make it very comfortable to work with, plus now I have a ton of screen space from which I can just click and drag stuff everywhere, it makes work fun. I didnt go with the Gigabyte M34WQ because I fell in love with curved monitors (later on that monitor reviews I read people complaining on it being exhausting to work on after a while because of the flat screen but I suppose that is a matter of personal taste. I didnt go with the Asus VG34VQL1B because on some reviews I read people complaining about the color smearing which honestly I dont think you would notice unless you were a monitor sommelier. One thing you should know before buying it is that you need a displayport capable computer (make sure your computer and the gpu supports displayport) it has an hdmi port but it is limited to 85hz. Other than that, this is the best monitor right now in its segment. Hope this helps!

> 24 hourThis is the first “high end” monitor I’ve ever bought. I reviewed monitors for a long time, pulled the trigger on this one. I am replacing 2 22” 1080 VA 60hz panels and this thing is amazing. I highly recommend for anyone who is doing any type of content creation, works on their computer a lot. Only thing I would honestly change, but it’s not a common feature I don’t think, is a dedicated power button and a dedicated input switch toggle. But it’s not a deal breaker at all.

> 24 hourUpgrading from 16:9 has been a blast, especially for games. The first I played on it was Subnautica, and most recently the God of War port has 21:9 support. My previous panel was 1440p 144hz and TN. The colors on the IPS hasnt blown me away except that I no longer need to futz with nvidia control panel calibration. The corners do have some backlight bleed, but in my use I dont notice it. I use this monitor for productivity, internet browsing, and gaming. A tiling window manager makes utilizing all the space easy. Two problems that docked a star. First, there is a stuck pixel on the far left a couple inches below center. It doesnt bother me enough to exchange, as it is only noticeable with a white or light blue background and I have to look for it. Second, it did not come with a downstream USB connector (this enables the two USB ports on the back of the monitor). Related to the USB ports, I am disappointed with the only two USB ports, as I had gotten used to having four on my previous Dell S2716DG. The stand functions well. The red and back gamer style is tired and ugly, but you cant really see the red in normal use. I prefer the Dell flat base style since you can place things on it. Ill probably get a desk-mounted monitor arm for this reason.

> 24 hourI have now owned both Samsung and LG and I will be honest. Samsung beats LG in the display quality but LG beats Samsung everywhere else. The display quality is not enough to prefer the Samsung over the LG when it comes to other features...This monitor is significantly easier to manager when mounting on a wall or placing on a desk. The LGs OSD is great as well. Navigating is a breeze and unlike the Samsung the LG will switch between active displays without input....I still cannot believe Samsung has this problem...Which was the primary reason I switched to the LG. Working from home and wanting to switch to gaming is a breeze.

> 24 hourPerfect curved gaming monitor. Good price for the resolution and quality. The movable stand is so convenient. I hook up my ps5 Nintendo switch and Alienware and play tons of games and have to say the graphics are awesome.

> 24 hourAs the pandemic hit - I wanted to upgrade my work from home space and built a new computer, complete with a 3080 and 3900x. I tried the AW34DW20, Lg34gp83a, and the Acer zx342ck and decided upon the Lg34gp83a. The IPS panel, refresh rate, Displayport and HDMI all are pluses. The main thing I despise is the lack of white balance uniformity from these panels. I believe the AW34DW20 shares the same issue as the panel is the same, however I went through FOUR Lg34gp83as before tolerating the one I have. Its a constant dice roll of dead pixels, silhouetting, back light bleed, IPS glow, or white balance uniformity. Each of them had some sort of white balance uniformity issue (cooler right side vs warmer left side or a cool streak across the bottom and top of the screen with the rest warm). The one I ended up with had a slight cool streak on the right quadrant of the screen - which isnt great, but wasnt willing to roll the dice again as everything else checked out. I did read stories that LGs customer service sucks, but Im willing to take a gamble with this one. The AW34DW20 and customer service from Dell, should be better, but Ive also read stories that their terrible as well. I also think that the negative accounts you read online are more of the exception vs the norm.

> 24 hourwhen you install a strong GPU you start thinking about how best to utilize it. do you go 27 inch 4k, or do you go with 1440p ultrawide? obviously, if youre reading this youre seriously considering the latter option. Im running a 3090/10900k/32gb ram rig with this monitor and you can max out rdr2 and reasonably get around 90fps. I personally aim for 60fps in that particular game with upscaling/TSS though. it looks fantastic and the field of view you get from ultrawide gameplay is awesome. just beware that the extra real estate is more taxing on your rig. could be that you have to downgrade your settings to accommodate the width, and I dont personally think itd be worth it unless you can get 60 frames. thats just my opinion. the monitor itself is great, just make sure your rig is up to it for your standards of graphical performance
