> 3 dayThe Lutron Outdoor Plug was a quick and easy install. I have several Cassetta dimmers and smart plugs, and addicting this outdoor plug to my systems was very simple. Just plug it in and the WiFi bridge immediately located it and I just added it as another one of my smart devices. I wish the wire (that actually plugs into the electric outlet) was longer and not just “pig-tail” length, but that is the only real shortcoming I have found … and it might not be a shortcoming for most others. Overall am very satisfied.

> 3 dayInstalled to switch garden path lights but the wireless signal does not reach the switch unless it is plugged into an outlet right next to the house, My transform for the lights is installed in a shed next to the house, too great a distance apparently.

> 3 dayAfter having returned a couple of less robust outdoor wifi-enabled smart plugs that just didnt work, thought Id give this very pricey option a try. Although its a bit bulky, the unit feels very solid, should indeed survive Ohio winters. But as the product description more or less makes clear, there is no scheduling/ remote function built in to the unit, you must buy the Lutron Caseta Bridge to get that. So I did that, too, bringing the combo price to around $160. Better be built like a tank for that price! The Bridge installation was anything but easy, resulting in the one-star rating there. The Bridge saw my wifi but refused to accept the password to connect, and so could not load the software update that is required for operation. I got online with the Lutron chat rep, who very patiently went through a 45-minute process first to get the Bridge to connect to my network, then to be seen by the Lutron servers. Finally got it up and running after many steps. So five stars for Lutron service, but that kind of odyssey should never have been necessary to get the smart plug to do what it is supposed to do in the first place. Oh, and the schedule programming is a bit wonky - you have to create one entry to turn the device on, then another one with a different name to turn it off. Would never have understood this without the chat reps help. So if you have the patience to endure what could be a prolonged setup process, this is a great unit. If you want ease of operation, maybe youll be luckier than I was; maybe not.

> 3 dayIts nice and solid quality, but I know theres nothing special going on with these when many other brands do the same. Id say the positive is using their own frequency, long distance channels, keeps them off of your wi-fi so less devices taking up the precious signals. But, Lutron, come on, such a difficult closed system to work with the RA2 protocols. Need some API for integrators.

> 3 dayThis is an extension cord. Thats all that is in the box. It has no way to connect with your smart phone, as advertised. This is not a smart plug. To make it a smart plug, you will need to purchase an additional component called a Smart Bridge, which is currently an additional $80. This is only mentioned in the fine print of this page. That doubles the cost of your project. This is a scam.

> 3 dayThis is the FIRST outdoor Wi-Fi smart switch that has not failed. Other brands at 20% of the price are unreliable. Strongly recommend this, especially if losing connection is a serious problem. Worth every penny.

> 3 dayI set up two of these smart plugs with the Lutron app. They work perfectly. Setup was super quick and easy. I use them to turn on/off our commercial Keurigs so that theyre off overnight and turn on (and warm up) first thing in the morning. Im hoping that having the machines off overnight will help to reduce the burn-in that was occurring in the cheap Keurig LCD screens.
