> 3 dayIf this is your first Lutron Smart Component, there might be a learning curve, especially if you wish to connect it to the Apple HomeKit. But if this is an addition to an existing system, the set up takes less than a minute and synchronizes with the HomeKit within seconds on all Apple applications. We bought three for three exterior zones, they work incredible. The Outdoor Smart Plug is not available in Canada yet, apparently.

Greater than one weekIts nice and solid quality, but I know theres nothing special going on with these when many other brands do the same. Id say the positive is using their own frequency, long distance channels, keeps them off of your wi-fi so less devices taking up the precious signals. But, Lutron, come on, such a difficult closed system to work with the RA2 protocols. Need some API for integrators.

> 3 dayHere is the bottom line this outdoor plug is expensive, built like an absolute tank and will always stay connected to the hub so what are you exactly paying for then? Easy... quality. What sets Lutron apart and why you are paying a premium is the build quality and Clear Connect RF, Lutrons proprietary communication technology that runs on 434mhz and why does that matter? Glad you asked the lower the frequency the further it can go through thick walls and open air meaning you can have these outside and not need to worry if they will connect. Also basically nothing uses 434mhz anymore so nothing is going to intefere with the signal, your wifi wont, your ZigBee wont and your z-wave wont. Basically the only thing that still uses 434 are old garage door opener remotes and only in a real short busy and very infrequent. In my 1930s house that is double bricked with Lath and Plaster walls Lutron devices have zero issues connecting and staying connected. All the wifi, ZigBee and zwave alternatives I tried would sometimes go offline. So if you already got a Lutron Hub and never want to deal with any issues with whatever you plug into this thing this is the product for you

> 3 dayA little pricy for an outdoor smart plug but it works reliably and integrates into the Lutron caeseta hub. I had a bit of trouble initially connecting it to the hub so I plugged it into an outlet next to the hub and it was recognized. Then I moved it outside and it continued to work

> 3 dayEasy to install. Worked the first time. Replaces timers which require changing often. Recommend

> 3 dayThis integrates well with Caseta system/hub and had no problem connecting during setup. This is kind of bulky and designed for outside for things like holiday lights. Would be nice to have a less bulky version for inside use though that could handle higher wattages than the dimmer switch.

> 3 dayBut worth it for the rock-solid connection and HomeKit integration!

> 3 dayThe Lutron outdoor switch has much better range than any that use WiFi as a link to the switch. The Lutron is accessible via WiFi so it works well with Alexa etc, but it uses a bridge to communicate to the outdoor switch. It’s much more reliable for long range (distance) applications. Now if Lutron will add dimming capability it will be perfect.

> 3 dayI use this with Homekit and it works great! I needed a plug I could use with my 3d printer in the garage so I can turn it on and off remotely. Its pricey but it has never not responded yet.

> 3 dayThanks to the Lutron hub I have already, the plug was able to latch onto my weak wifi signal outside where other smart plugs have failed. Easy set up, seamless Homekit integration. Love my Lutron tech.
