Greater than one weekI have had this vacuum for 1 1/2 years and it is the same as the day I bought it. The quality is amazing especially since I seem to drop it often. The sucking power is much better then other vacuums and often vacuum my whole house(Pergo flooring) because of the convenience of the vacuum. I need to use the vacuum often because I have a bird that litters the floor with seeds often. It even vacuums up larger pieces easily. I have 4 family members that love the vacuum and ended up buying one also even though the price of the vacuum is expensive (in my opinion). But all that have bought it agrees the cost is worth it. I can not say enough good things about this vacuum. Once you have the battery and charger it is a lot cheaper for just vacuum replacement. But I have not had to buy a new one yet. You will need to buy the vacuum filters, but I often just tap the dust out of the filter instead of replacing it.

> 3 dayThis light vacuum is the greatest. Ive only had to charge it once in 2 months. Its super easy to use. No cords. Just gram, use, putaway. I LOVE this and recommend it highly.

> 3 dayWith a 4 amp battery, this vacuum will go a long time. The dust cup is easy to clean and the tool is balanced about right. Good suction. Sadly, my wife has seized possession of this vacuum. Overall, this is a keeper.

> 3 dayThis is perfect if you don’t want to get out the heavy vacuum. Battery last much longer than the older, white Mikita.

> 3 daySame cracks as everyone else. Design flaw. Uneven force will be applied to this spot when connecting and using daily. The crack WILL happen eventually to each and every unit; whether it will break catastrophically will vary. I did the same thing as AJ, one of the reviewers here by cutting off the bottom of a 30mm A-10 Warthog shot glass and used the tube as reinforcement. I had 6 of those shot glasses lying around so his idea made wonders. What I did extra was adding JB Weld to both surfaces (scuff the plastic and metal before applying the glue). I hammered the tube down gently. Once its settled, this spot becomes much stronger and doesnt look ugly. This repair should be done early on instead of waiting till the cracks develop further. BTW, the new version of this vacuum now uses clip in style instead of friction - which I believe to be no good because the weak spot remains weak while you no longer have the option to mend it by adding a straight tube. The picture shows that I cut the tube longer to the edge of spout. Picture uploading function is not available now. Still dont know why there is no uploading pic button anymore...

> 3 dayMakita quality. Very powerful cordless vacuum and very convenient if you already have other Makita 18 volt cordless tools as the batteries interchange. It is for smooth surfaces and low pile rugs, not carpet. I purchased it on a one day flash sale for 99.95 including battery and charger. Well worth the money. Battery lasts approximately 30 minutes and charges in about 30 minutes. The only negative I can think of for some is theres no on/off switch. Theres a trigger you press and hold down for the vacuum to run. Let off the trigger the vacuum shuts off. My elderly mother complains its difficult to hold down for her for long periods of time. Not an issue for me.

> 3 dayReally convenient not to have to deal with a cord and hose to pick up hair, dust and light debris. Suction is adequate but does not compete with my shop vac. Easy to empty and store on included bracket.

> 3 dayI did read other reviews that blue shaft has problems with cracking. I gave this vacuum a try because Makita brand is Usually tough and reliable. I used this vacuum three times... and I have not had it One week. Blue shaft has several fracture lines, this is a huge flaw. I am respectable and careful with my electronics and tools; to have a product last less than a week is truly on Makita. I did give vacuum 2 stars because suction is pretty darn good... I would not be returning this if it did not crack. It’s now November 3rd 2019 and I wanted to update my opinions about this Makita cordless vacuum. Yes... it did bother me that the plastic hose has fracture lines... but honestly at this point it’s just cosmetic and has Nothing to do with how this vacuum performs. Battery charges promptly, hose and receptacle are easy dump/ easy clean. I use this vacuum all the time and it picks up dirt and fur from a kiddo, 2 dogs and a kitty:) I apologize Makita... happy I did not return the vacuum. Cheryl
