> 3 dayI bought this a year ago for use with HomeKit (Siri) for backyard lights. It isnt perfect, but it earns the fifth star: The bad: Setting up took a few tries, and maybe twice in a year, HomeKit required me to re-pair the device for reasons unknown. Requires you to turn off 5GHz, if you have it, to set up (2.4GHz only). Also, you may have to try a couple different names for the device and the separate outlets if you want to be able to control each plug separately while retaining the ability to turn them both on and off as a single device (e.g. front yard, back yard, whole yard). The good: Does the job. Switches on and off very quickly. Wifi works fine once its set up. If it requires re-pairing, the process isnt difficult. The button on the device works reliably even before its set up. Waterproofing has been reliable for a year, even through pretty heavy storms. The best: a week ago, I had to re-pair it and discovered that I hadnt written down the HomeKit code, and the sticker that had it printed on had come off. So I wrote in to Meross through their support page with a couple pieces of info (the devices default WiFi network name and its MAC address, both available from my Eero router control app), and they got back to me in a day with the HomeKit code for re-pairing (along with an apology for taking so long). I was very pleasantly surprised with that kind of high-quality customer support.

04-04-2025This smart plug is compatible with HomeKit, Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant which sounds great but this makes it difficult to set up as HomeKit is the preferred method so using Alexa didnt work initially.

> 3 dayThis does exactly what its meant to do. I mounted this to my pergola to control my outdoor string lights via Home Kit. The unit comes with two plug-ins and each can be controlled separately in the Home app. The only downside (in my situation using only one of the outlets) is that you have to go into the accessory to physically click on Outlet 1 or Outlet 2, but thats a minor downside as verbally telling Siri to turn on Outlet 1 works just fine. Its currently on a $5 discount and regardless, I would buy this again.

> 3 dayLoved the ease of setting up and using. Apple HomeKit setup was a snap, took about 10 seconds after scanning the image... I have my Meross app, went in there, device was listed and just had to select “Add” and was immediately available with Alexa (tied my Meross account to Alexa). Good WiFi range and is extremely responsive. Would’ve been nice to have the option of setting up in the Meross app without needing to use Apple HomeKit first on iOS devices, but was super easy and had no issues. Says Waterproof, but I don’t deem IP44 waterproof. Nevertheless it so far hasn’t had any issues being outdoors. App isn’t the prettiest, but works consistently and reliably, so no complaints. Great value and highly recommend the outdoor plug and Meross in general.

Greater than one weekI utilized this with Apples HomeKit software and for the most part it works exactly as advertised. Setup is easy and HK controls it very well. Since I had my Christmas lights hooked up to it I was able to have them come on at sundown and turn off at midnight. My only frustration was I had to reset it once due to some network issues and the support site for Meross is rather poorly designed. So took a bit of googling on my part to figure out how to reset the device.

> 3 dayThe Meross Smart WiFi Indoor/Outdoor Plug is designed for outdoor use (IP44 rated to withstand snow, rain, heat, and dust) and includes two outlets you can control independently using the app or voice (via Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, or SmartThings). Its easy to setup and use. When first added to HomeKit, the Meross Smart WiFi Indoor/Outdoor Plug appears as a single outlet, but you can show each of the two outlets as separate tiles if you would like to toggle each outlet with a single tap. Firmware updates are installed through the Meross.app, so you should always install that even if you are only using Alexa, HomeKit, Assistant, or SmartThings to control your devices. For my home, well use the Meross Smart WiFi Indoor/Outdoor Plug to control our outdoor lighting for the holidays, using HomeKit time-based triggers to turn them on at dusk and off at bedtime, and with scenes to turn them on whenever our indoor holiday lights are on. The seamless support for all major IoT systems and very reasonable price made this an easy purchase.

> 3 dayIt was super easy to setup and connect to HomeKit. Take it out of the box, plug it into the outlet and press the power button. Wait about 2-3 mins and check the WiFi settings for a new option to setup the meross outdoor plug. Once you tap it, it takes you to the Home app and asks to scan the HomeKit setup code (it’s on the side of the plug). Once it’s scanned, it’ll connect after 1-2 mins and you’re up and running. Compared to the Wemo Outdoor Plug, this plug lets you treat each outlet as an individual HomeKit accessory. It was also half the price! It started drizzling rain this afternoon on my balcony (12th floor) and no issues so far but too soon to tell. I’ll be sure to update this review.
