> 3 dayOur old canister vacuum bit the dust. I researched for the best replacement and decided to buy the Miele Classic C1 Turbo canister vacuum. It weighed about half of what our old vacuum did. It tracks well. When you pull on it, it follows right behind you. I cant say that about our old one. The suction is super. We have hardwood floors throughout of home. The vacuum picks up cat hair and dust like it was nothing. I have carried it up the steps to our second floor and it was easy. The attachments are easy to connect and disconnect. This is one impressive vacuum.

Greater than one weekThis was a gift for a 95-year-old homemaker who prides herself on still doing her own housecleaning, and she loves it! A previous vacuum was too much for her to wrestle with, but she reports that the Miele Classic C1 Turbo Team Canister Vacuum Cleaner is easy for her to manage. She has both some wall-to-wall carpet and some runners, and she says the suction adjustment dial works perfectly for her to clean both without the runners being sucked right off the floor. She was also amazed to discover that with the swivel head, she can run the extension tube and swivel head all the way under a full queen size bed. Her children would rather their 95-year-old mother had someone to come in and clean the house for her, but this has turned out to be an excellent next-best choice.

> 3 dayFirst off, Im a tough reviewer. In general, I dont believe in 5 star reviews unless the product is really excellent at its function or an incredible value. If the product does what it says and costs a normal amount of money, thats a 4 star review in my book. Background: I live in a 2 bedroom apartment, which is 50% hardwood, 25% tile and 25% medium pile carpet. I also have area carpets in the living spaces that are medium-low pile. I dont have any pets, but my fiancee has long hair. I am getting a cat soon - I will update this review when I have tried out the vacuum on cat hair. EDIT: Ive had the cat for 2 months now. Vacuum picks up cat hair on my couch and carpet pretty well. I dont have to re-vacuum any areas as far as I can tell. When doing furniture, I have to clean the attachments fairly often, but thats to be expected. No change to this review. Functions: Hardwood - Fantastic This thing has great suction. It cleans super easily and the parquet floorhead is effective. Carpet - Good The Turboteq carpet brush head cleans the carpets pretty well. There are multiple suction settings and the device recommends a lower suction setting for carpets. I have found I get better results going slower on a lower suction mode than turning up the suction. The suction is very powerful - it will pull up on area rugs. You have to maintain an acute angle with the handle and push forward and slightly down to move the brush head over carpet. Even then it takes a little bit of force. Moving it backwards doesnt work nearly as well. In heavily soiled areas, you may need multiple passes - the runner carpet in the hallway needed 2 or 3 passes. Furniture - The attachments for furniture and upholstery work pretty well. Depending on your furniture you may have to turn the suction down past the furniture setting to the curtain setting. I have not tried to clean my curtains with this vacuum. Usability - Pretty good The main issues with usability are simply with canister vacuums. You have to move the canister, clean that area, and then move the canister again. If youre using the floorheads at specific angles or direction, you may have to set up the canister so the hose is pointing in a useful direction because the hose is a little too short. It is surprising how often you need to consider how to optimize the orientation. The floor and brush heads have lots of rotation but it does not mitigate this problem much. The cord is very long so you can generally always maneuver the vac where you need it to be, but the hose could probably be longer. I will probably be checking in a few months for a longer compatible hose if this continues to annoy me. There are other small usability issues that I would say could be engineered away. The carpet brush head has two notches across it so you can cut hair off. However, over the middle of the brush head, there is a section that the notches are inaccessible because of the brush head bristles. Both notches are inaccessible in the same area from the bristles. It would have been easy to modify the bristle pattern so over the entirety of the brushhead there was at least one notch that work. However, I will say that the notch does work very well when you can use it. The holder for the attachments is also in a slightly inconvenient location as it slightly messes with the tubes. Otherwise the usability is great. Everything assembles easily and its easy to change the bags. Its small and easy to store Quality - Great I havent had this vacuum long, but Im a mechanical engineer who has designed consumer products. I can tell this uses quality materials. The brush head has plastic moving parts, but when inspecting them while cutting hair out, I can tell it is a glass-impregnated plastic for wear resistance. I was able to cut hairs away from it with a normal pocket knife (not a razor blade/hobby knife) without scratching it. I was being careful, but a cheap ABS part would have been scratched up easily. I am impressed by this products engineering and quality. Overall - 4 stars I have written mostly positive things, and the negative things are minor. However, I am only giving this 4 stars, because this aint cheap. $400 is a lot of money for a vacuum, and while it does the job, it doesnt perform its functions unbelievably well. However, it definitely seems built to last. If it is truly as durable as it should be for this price, maybe it is deserving of 5 stars. But if Im paying $400 for an appliance, I dont want slight usability issues or need to make multiple passes on carpet. However, Im not unhappy with my purchase at all. I recommend this for apartment dwellers who are willing to spend a little more time cleaning with a canister vac to get good cleaning results.

> 3 dayPurchased because of Miele reputation and Id just installed expensive carpet. Carpet company said my Dyson would be too rough on the carpet. This is just my impression, someone else may feel different. It felt flimsy and it was much louder than Id anticipated. Learned later it didnt have the sound insulation. This machine has a LOT of suction. Seemed like the turbo brush was too rough on the carpet. Lowered the suction, still thought so. Bottom line it didnt seems to be harming the carpet. The bottom of the turbo brush is very smooth and no hard edges. I just expected more of a luxury feel...and this machine didnt have that. Although, it could suck the paint off a wall.

> 3 dayBought this for my wife after her 20 yr old Hoover finally died. She loved that old vac and her only complaint was its weight. I read many online reviews and decided on this Miele Classic C1 Turbo Team Bagged Canister Vacuum. Almost right away she complained about the tremendous suction and how on carpet it was very hard to move because it sucked itself to the carpet. The suction adjustment didnt seem to help much and I was ready to send it back, but she said maybe it would get better. Well, here we are 4 months in and she complains about it every time she uses it. youd think for such high suction it could suck up pet hair? But again, it doesnt. I went to Amazon to see if it was too late to return and I dont see an option at this point, so I guess live and learn. Meaning if you dont like something from the start, dont count on it getting any better.

> 3 dayNeeded a new vacuum and I was set on getting a canister unit instead of another stick or upright model. I love this thing. I tried out a Kenmore canister for a month before returning it and getting the Miele. The Miele is superior in every way, there are so many little design details that make using this vacuum enjoyable instead of a frustrating chore.

Greater than one weekIt has been a long time since we purchased a new vacuum cleaner and we were worried that it would not be as good as our old one was. It was much better! I recommend this cleaner.
