This knife is so impressive that I am planning a trip to Mora so I can be immersed in a culture of excellence. This knife was SHARP out of the box. With a little stopping I was shaving with it. I was primarily using this knife for batonning and feathering kindling, but was also doing some skinning as well. Was skeptical of the scandi grind at first, but it is so easy to maintain. This knife is my new EDC.

Perspective context: Im an amateur collector of cheaper, but good quality knives, generally of a value of under $75. I prefer carbon steel, and I love to get them hair-splitting sharp. Ive got a variety of Moras, including three of their carving knives. This is a great, smaller bushcraft knife. Its not as robust as its larger, more expensive cousins, but will do the job for most of your basic knife duties, including moderate batoning. Its pretty sharp out of the box, but of course I felt the need to do a little stone, ceramic and stropping magic. Its now stupid sharp. I love the heft and length of this knife. Ive always felt more confidence with heavier, full-tang blades, and this is no exception. The 90° spine is perfect for sparking ferro rods, and the carbon steel is easy to keep super sharp, even if may not retain an edge as well as the more brittle stainless. I find it able to take an edge better on average. The grip feels good in the hand. Drawbacks are few. On the knife itself, I wish there was a sharpening choil. The blade has a coating right to the edge that will help preserve it from rust, but which is easily scratched and removed if your sharpening is careless. The grip has a small to moderate bolster, which will protect your index finger for most work, but may not be adequate enough with heavy point-forward use like drilling, punching or stabbing. On the plastic sheath, I got the survival kit with the sharpener and the ferro rod. Unless my blade needs extreme edge repair, I will never use the super-coarse diamond sharpener. That might be better for an axe blade. This blade needs a 400 to 1000 grit stone, some ceramic honing, and then a leather strop to make it awesome. A 150-grit diamond strip is just too aggressive and will quickly ruin the edge back quite a ways. The ferro rod is small but works fine. All in all, this is a great knife for the average camper, outdoorsman and basic bushcrafter. Unless youre a reenactor, a serious bushcrafter/YouTuber with something to prove, or someone who uses a knife to pry tent stakes out of the ground, youre probably not going to need anything beyond this knife. Enjoy!

A very sharp knife that is easy to sharpen and rugged. Not so expensive that I hesitate to use it for rough chores, like working in the garden. Should last a lifetime.

Awesome knife for slicing dicing diving or just surviving. Great blade, very light, and the plastic sheath keeps it nearly bone dry in snow or rain The grip is fantastic as well and can probably be held very safely even by someone with weak grip strength. It arrives VERY sharp so be careful. Overall, this is a vital piece of any survivalist or camper’s gear stow.

The knife came dull out of the box vs their $10moraknive which was razor sharp and held the edge better

this thing is a hoss! I upgraded from the Companion and it is the total package for a daily carry or bushcraft knife. Sharp as a razorz, great weight and balance. Well worth the purchase.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my son, liked it so much I bought two more. One as another gift and one for myself. Great quality knife and very versatile sheath / carry system. Knife was very sharp out of the box, but after a few strokes on a leather strop it is shave your head sharp!

Do not buy the Morakniv Garberg full tang fixed blade with the poly sheath because, the knife falls out of the sheath. The regular poly sheath will not secure the knife from falling out. This is true on both the carbon and the stainless steel Morakniv Garberg full tang fixed blade knife. I own both the carbon and the stainless-steel models of the Morakniv Garberg full tang fixed blade knife. I get the same result with both. The knife just falls out of the regular poly sheath. The regular poly sheath will not secure the knife. Shame on you Moarakniv company for even offering a sheath and knife combination that you knew would not hold the knife securely. And this is supposedly your “Top of the line” offering. This price point you should have a superior base line sheath that will hold the knife under any conditions. About the Morakniv Garberg full tang fixed blade knives themselves. I own both the stainless-steal and carbon models. What can be said that has not already been said by other reviewers. The knives are built well and should last a lifetime. I really enjoy using them and will use them for years. The knife itself is why I am giving it 5 stars. The sheath is obviously not of any value.
