> 3 dayI use this ring on a 1x9 setup using a conventional rear derailleur Shimano XT Shadow (without clutch) and without chain retention device. Yes, I did drop my chain once but after 100+ miles of aggressive mountain biking. I then installed a EThirteen chain retention device before an important race only because I wanted to take no chance with this, but it was most likely unnecessary.

Greater than one weekTo start with I don’t know what your extra $$ buys relative to, say, the Fifty Fifty narrow/wide ring I put on my older bike, but I’m not going to ding this a point. It’s a quality part you’d pick for a newer, better quality bike. If anything it was just a smidge big in diameter compared to the mounting bosses on my crankset. (I had to slightly file out the cheaper ring to slip over on my older bike’s XT crank.) Well made, quiet, no drop ring.

> 3 dayI love this chainring. Not only does it look good but its well made and its super light. I do a lot of climbing on the trails and i wish i wouldve bought the 30T one instead of the 32T. But either way i love it

> 3 dayi have a 2012 trek x-cal running 1x10, 36 up front and 11-36 in the back. I even have a long cage and non-clutched derailleur and havent dropped the chain once. i was skeptical at first but after looking it up and talking to other bikers i wanted to try it, i will have a hard time going back because i only ever used one ring up front.
