Installation is straightforward on cabinets. Drawers can be a little difficult because there often isnt a surface to mount the catch or space to manuever a power drill. I had to make shim blocks to mount the latch on, but no other adaptations were necessary.

The multiple engineers in my family all geeked out over the simple but very effective paper template that makes installation so simple. Once installed you cannot see them from the outside at all which was so nice after years of big bulky plastic things looking awful on our cabinets. Plus these are the first lock to totally keep my highly intelligent 3 year old out. The spring loaded ones similar to this she had figured out in under 10 minutes by just reaching her hand in through the little gap and pushing the lever down. These keep the cabinets shut much tighter so you cannot reach through at all. We just make sure to store the magnet key at the very top of our fridge. Also I appreciate that you can toggle a lever on the lock if you want them to stay unlocked. That way if you are going in and out of a cabinet over and over for a few minutes you dont have to use the key each time. Really nice lock overall and I have already bought more. Only thing I was slightly disappointed on (but really I should have asked about it first so its my fault) is that I had planned to put some of these on metal storage cabinet doors in our garage but the metal doors activated the magnetic lever and so they were stuck in the unlocked position. It didnt occur to me that the metal doors would do that as I thought it would have to be a magnet not just a piece of metal. Not a big deal I just had to get another solution for the metal doors but just something to be aware of if your cabinets have metal doors too. So long as they are wooden you should be good.

Love these, although Ive had a few problems with some of them catching properly. They are installed perfectly, but if I pull at the cabinet door hard enough it will open without the key. Not sure why..but this has happened with 2-3 out of 16. Although my baby is only one, hes strong and determined enough to open the dud locks I received. Plan to contact merchant about this issue and hope for replacements.

These locks were very easy to install and are very effective in keeping my 14 month old son out of my desk. He is a very strong kid, to give an example he pushes a Sams grocery cart, which is twice the size of a regular grocery cart, with a 42 lb bag of dog food in it all the way through Sams and through the parking lot to the car. Without any help. So when I say hes strong Im not exaggerating. Once the lock is engaged I would venture to say that it would take a pry bar to open it without the key. The price was right too. I shopped around and comared to other brand name magnetic locks these were hands down the best deal going. The same type of lock in a different brand name cost three times as much and you have to purchase the key separate.

These work great. I wish would be if they were a bit heavier duty. For everyday normal use they hold up fine. I would also like to see the lock disable button in a less easy spot to reach to avoid accidentally locking out the lock.

We have both TotLoks and the Safety 1st child locks. The TotLoks look like a bit of a contraption and the magnets fall apart if dropped. The locks themselves though are very strong, and theyre much smaller than the Safety 1st locks. They will fit in more places. The Safety-1st locks have much nicer magnets and overall are easier to install/use and work better in normal operation--- but if an adult yanks on a locked door with any force without care, assuming it should open, the Safety 1st lock internally shatters and ceases to work. The TotLoks dont. Minus one star for breaking easily, minus one more for being bulky enough that we had to cut notches in some cabinets/drawers so they would fit. These could be the perfect child lock if both were fixed.

They are ok, there are magnets in the lock part itself so where I wanted to place the lock it was picking up on the metal staple in the corner of the cabinet door and holding itself unlocked. I had to move them away from the corner and further from the handle to get them to work which now makes opening the door a two-handed affair. Otherwise easy to install and function as described.

These locks are easy to install, work on almost any cupboard, and provide a nice snug close. Without the magnetic key, doors do not come open easily or are able to be forced open. Additionally locks provide an alternative, always unlocked feature with a simply push button. Highly recommend product for potential customers.

Love this system. It did take all morning to install 8 locks but worth the effort. Love that I can unlock cabinets when my grandson is not visiting.
