Thule Load Straps for Roof Mount Racks

I pulled a Mercedes up a hill with two of these hooked to the back of my Suburban. Probably not rated, but she was blocking the road in a bad storm and got her and her car out of the way and safe. Thule products; have been using them since the 80s without fail. Just dont lend them out, they seem not to come back.

These feel like they will last forever. They are thicker and stiffer than the ones in the Thule Portage kit (which I recommend). Wish they were a bit cheaper, but you do get what you pay for.

I use the Thule straps to tie down my kayak on the roof of my SUV. I had some that came with my kayak rack that I purchased, but the competitors straps had a small piece of fabric on one side of the buckle and I had to be so careful with it as it scratched, or even took chunks of paint off my car. These straps have the rubber piece that completely covers all of the metal buckle, so I can toss them over the kayak without worrying about scratching the car.

they hold good and do the job but not so easy to use. Todays new trucks are hight off the ground and I though I could just pull these tight from the ground. you have to hold the it open and pull it though. Making it much harder to get it tight to the rack. Not for my kind of work would not buy again. If you like this type of strap you will love these

I ordered the Thule 523 Load Straps for Roof Mount Racks. What I wanted. Fair price. Couldnt ask for more

I have used these for years, and just ordered a new set. Ive towed kayaks all of the place, and never had one loosen up on me. The buckle is very low profile, and I seem to get less wind noise than with other straps. The rubber covers work great, and allow you to toss the buckle over the car without worrying about where it will land.

I have a pair of these straps that came with my Thule kayak carrier and they are so simple to use, very secure, very reliable. Ive gone on 400 mile road trips using only these straps, no bumper ties, and the straps remained tight through the drive. Im getting an extra pair to use when Im carrying extra kayaks for my friends and just to have on hand to use instead of bungees or ratchet straps.
