> 3 dayBought this little guy with the intent to use it to monitor power consumption on my 3d printer. Of course we decided to use it on the Xmas tree first. The plug linked up well with my google home and its as simple as saying hey google turn on the Christmas Tree I like the fact that i can check it when i am away from home and make sure everything is turned off just in case we forget. We also set up a schedule so the light turns off every night around bed time, just as an extra safety feature. As a side perk i have been randomly turning the light on while my girlfriend is home to make her think the house is haunted.

> 3 dayI love this plug. Only two minor things and a suggestion. It is a bit of a pain to setup due to being only 2.4 ghz and having that smart band switching I really like the power monitoring, and something I just want to monitor power, so I would like to set the power on state. Also with power monitoring I would like to see a grouping alart for useage. But honestly, great little plug, easy to use, full of features, and a great price!

> 3 dayI bought this primarily to turn on and off pool pumps as well as monitor their energy usage. When I dove into the statistics for energy monitoring I saw my pump is using 2012 mA. That’s 2.012 amps. Volts is 121.3. We know that V*A=Watts. 2.012*121.3 is 245.14 watts. Watts on the app says 146.4. (See pic) So, one of these values is incorrect. I contacted the manufacturer and they said “Currently something is wrong with the calculations, we are working on a solution. I apologize fir the confusion” It took them 2 days to even respond. I have no idea if the kWh is correct since I’m not sure if is based off of watts or volts*amps. I don’t know if any of the numbers are correct since the math says they can’t all be correct. As for the on off functionality it works pretty well. I can control it from my phone. It’s really unfortunate that the energy monitoring does not work though since that’s half the reason I bought it. I can turn my pumps on and off from anywhere though.

> 3 dayOverall a good item, but can be improved to be great! Im monitoring a small grid-tie inverter and every few days the plug just turns off (not because of a power outage, which is another issue). This causes the inverter to shut off and electricity to stop being produced. Also would be great to see the hourly or even minutely chart and a feature to reset total consumption.

> 3 dayI have other top greener products and these were simple and easy to install and use. Alexa integration rating is low only because I don’t use it.

05-04-2025These devices are very convenient for short term checking of energy usage. I ran into the same issues as everyone else with the devices randomly rebooting into an OFF state, so do not depend on these unattended.

> 3 dayThere are a few things I like about these plugs. I liked the power monitoring feature, although the app does not work correctly on my iPad. It did work on my android phone. I did not have any trouble pairing and adding the devices. However, there are two big issues that make these outlets a poor choice for me. First of all, they do not remember the state they were in prior to a power outage. If an outlet is on before there is a power outage, it should remember and return to an on state when the power returns. The same if it is off. These don’t. If the power goes out, when it comes back the outlets are off and will stay off until you turn them back on using either the app or the button on the outlet. This is a problem if you don’t realize there was a power outage and there is something plugged into it that really needs to stay on, like a mini fridge. That’s exactly what happened to me. I had my mini freezer plugged into this so I could track how much power it was using. At some point during the day the power blinked and the outlet shut off. The next day I went out to grab something and all the food in the freezer was thawed and I had to toss most of it. Not good. My Kasa outlets don’t do that, they come back on automatically when the power comes back, and they also will complete scheduled tasks whether or not the Internet is up. These outlets will not. I didn’t think that was a huge deal because I have my Kasa outlets for things that need scheduled tasks to function reliably. But honestly, why pay almost the same price for outlets that don’t have as good functionality? But anyway, having to check your outlets every few hours to make sure they’re still on when you live in an area where there are fairly frequent power blinks is totally a dealbreaker for me.

> 3 dayFirmware has been patched out of the box as of May 2022. Device is ultrasonically welded, and as such is impossible to get to for serial programming. Worthless for my needs, returning. Probably still works if you want your data stolen by Tuya or you want to eventually get forced into a monthly subscription.

> 3 dayI ordered this because I wanted to find out how much electricity my pop machine was using, as Im sitting on my couch realizing I dont want to go all the way downstairs to reset my modem because its kind of hard to get to, and the same thing with my TV shoved in the corner, I ordered a couple more. if there is something that you have to power cycle on a fairly regular basis these things are the bees knees!

> 3 dayIf youre looking for plugs that you can flash with Tasmota in order to get them out of the cloud and use them with a platform like Home Assistant, I can confirm that I was able to do it with these, purchased on February 9, 2021 from the TopGreener store here on Amazon. If you need to know how to get started, check out digiblurDIY on YouTube. He pretty much walks you through every step, no opening the unit or soldering involved. I couldnt be happier.
