Greater than one weekI have a dehumidifier in my basement and I was searching for a plug that I could monitor remotely to see if it was running or not. I didnt need the ability to remotely switch on or off (which this does, as does hundreds of other plugs), but specifically needed something to tell me if power was running to the unit (meaning it was on and doing its job). Out of the box, this unit worked perfectly and was super easy to install/download the app. Its been flawless for months now and I finally figured out what was turning off my dehumidifier... it was set to a certain percentage, and when reached, it would shut off. But the problem was that it never turned back on when humidity rose. With this smart plug, I was first able to recognize that no power was running through it, and then was able to turn it on (which I never thought I would use!). Worked perfectly. Hoping this helps someone who has a similar use case as its pretty narrow since it doesnt really use all the features of a normal smart plug.

> 3 dayBought this little guy with the intent to use it to monitor power consumption on my 3d printer. Of course we decided to use it on the Xmas tree first. The plug linked up well with my google home and its as simple as saying hey google turn on the Christmas Tree I like the fact that i can check it when i am away from home and make sure everything is turned off just in case we forget. We also set up a schedule so the light turns off every night around bed time, just as an extra safety feature. As a side perk i have been randomly turning the light on while my girlfriend is home to make her think the house is haunted.

> 3 dayI bought these to monitor the power consumption of computer servers that run 24/7 to be able to calculate their energy cost. I also used one on a 3d Printer to calculate the cost per print. BOTH just shut off at different times randomly. No schedule on them, they werent linked to any smart home devices, and the app wasnt running. Plus it was in the middle of the night that it happened, so I nor anyone else around was even awake to have possibly done anything with the app or the plugs themselves. This caused my servers to be down for 4 hours. Not only will I not be able to calculate proper energy cost, but I have lost money from the servers being down and the waster filament on a print when the printer was unplugged by it as well.

> 3 dayThere are a few things I like about these plugs. I liked the power monitoring feature, although the app does not work correctly on my iPad. It did work on my android phone. I did not have any trouble pairing and adding the devices. However, there are two big issues that make these outlets a poor choice for me. First of all, they do not remember the state they were in prior to a power outage. If an outlet is on before there is a power outage, it should remember and return to an on state when the power returns. The same if it is off. These don’t. If the power goes out, when it comes back the outlets are off and will stay off until you turn them back on using either the app or the button on the outlet. This is a problem if you don’t realize there was a power outage and there is something plugged into it that really needs to stay on, like a mini fridge. That’s exactly what happened to me. I had my mini freezer plugged into this so I could track how much power it was using. At some point during the day the power blinked and the outlet shut off. The next day I went out to grab something and all the food in the freezer was thawed and I had to toss most of it. Not good. My Kasa outlets don’t do that, they come back on automatically when the power comes back, and they also will complete scheduled tasks whether or not the Internet is up. These outlets will not. I didn’t think that was a huge deal because I have my Kasa outlets for things that need scheduled tasks to function reliably. But honestly, why pay almost the same price for outlets that don’t have as good functionality? But anyway, having to check your outlets every few hours to make sure they’re still on when you live in an area where there are fairly frequent power blinks is totally a dealbreaker for me.

> 3 dayWhat I was looking for from the Energy Monitor is that it drew power from 10:32:15 to 10:32:23 (e.g. 8 seconds). And then again between 13:32:15 to 13:32:28, and then again between 20:32:15 to 20:32:28. I’m more interested that it DID draw power – when - and for how long - as opposed to how much TOTAL power it’s consumed in a day - which is what this does. E.g. Your computer sucked 20kW today – BAM – it’s got that if that’s what you want. I’ve never lived anywhere with a sump pump before and it’s been running a lot lately. Just looking to be sure it runs ‘sometimes’ without making a trip to the basement every day… I had an ice block of the outlet outside recently, and was probably REALLY close to flooding my basement. Woke up to it running and splashing because it couldn’t discharge with the outside ice in the way. If it’s run for more than 15 seconds… I HAVE A PROBLEM, and that’s what I’m trying to solve. So this is great for what it says it will do… and for that it gets high marks, I probably just read too much into it and will probably have to program my own IFTTT ;).

> 3 dayIve owned these for about a year now and theyve been great. Its not the most advanced meter in the world, but the price was right. I did have trouble resetting it. I had to switch the app pairing mode to AP, then press and hold the button for 5 seconds, release (LED should flash rapidly). Then, press and hold for another 5 seconds which will put it in AP mode, the LED should flash slowly. At this point you can connect your phones Wi-Fi to the plug and finish adding it in the app.

> 3 dayGot them working with my Android phone in less than five minutes. For each device you get to see milliamps, Power in watts, voltage and total kWh. By default the devices are switched off when the power is connected so a power outage will leave all of the devices off. Their technical support showed me how to set up an automation in the app so that if the device is switched off, the app turns it on. One other con: If you click on a device and select statistics, you only see the current month.

> 3 dayI bought this primarily to turn on and off pool pumps as well as monitor their energy usage. When I dove into the statistics for energy monitoring I saw my pump is using 2012 mA. That’s 2.012 amps. Volts is 121.3. We know that V*A=Watts. 2.012*121.3 is 245.14 watts. Watts on the app says 146.4. (See pic) So, one of these values is incorrect. I contacted the manufacturer and they said “Currently something is wrong with the calculations, we are working on a solution. I apologize fir the confusion” It took them 2 days to even respond. I have no idea if the kWh is correct since I’m not sure if is based off of watts or volts*amps. I don’t know if any of the numbers are correct since the math says they can’t all be correct. As for the on off functionality it works pretty well. I can control it from my phone. It’s really unfortunate that the energy monitoring does not work though since that’s half the reason I bought it. I can turn my pumps on and off from anywhere though.

Greater than one weekA very simple easy to install wifi device for your home security. We bought multiple timers for different rooms when we were traveling. We were able to manage the device timings and intervals remotely with their app. Supports multiple on/off intervals per day and also different intervals on different days of the week. Good price as well. Awesome product. Just buy it.

08-04-2025I typically dont write reviews, but this is the worst item that I have purchased on Amazon. The 1st one would not hook up to the internet. The second one finally connected to the internet but continually shuts off after 2 minutes even though I have the timer set for 15 minutes. Dont waste your money on these power monitors.
