> 24 hourI bought a used BCD325P2 handheld scanner, now I know why it was returned. Reception is sporadic and unit charges when it feels like it. I went ahead and ordered the brand new one. When it DOES work, Im pleased with it. I like to keep abreast of things going on in my neighborhood (had a shooting just the other night). My local police department just switched from analog to digital transmissions and my old scanner no longer picks them up. The unit itself seems to be well built with quality materials (I just happened to get the one bum unit). The battery life leaves much to be desired though.

> 24 hourOverall a great handheld. Durable and lasts. Drains batteries; invest in rechargeables. Only uses 2 AA verses the older models that were heavier with 4. I purchased software to easily upload and manage frequencies. Reception is moderate even with a higher gain antenna. Sound quality is ok.

> 24 hourLots of fun to listen to the surrounding Dispatches! I probably shouldve listened to the reviews, and not purchased this as a first time scanner. It came unprogrammed, so I couldnt listen to anything until I searched the manual on doing a basic scan of the entire frequency spectrum. So I tried the freescan software. And that was even difficult to understand. Then I found the ARC XT Pro software. Downside, freescan is free but time consuming to use and ARC is either $40 or $70 (depending on what you want), but its FASTER!! So within 15 minutes of loading up the ARC software and playing around a little (in the trial version), I was able to program my scanner, and listen to the city police, fire and ambulatory dispatches, as well as a few surrounding areas! The only other thing thats not very cool, is the battery life (again noted in the reviews). About 2 or 3 hours of continuous use and it starts beeping at you to replace the batteries. At least its only 2 double As. But you can always just leave it plugged into a power source with the USB Plug. Overall, I am very pleased with this scanner. It is very fun!

> 24 hourBought this scanner to monitor a neighboring countys phase II system. Scanner works well and sounds awesome, also use it for monitor a few DMR systems with no issues. Battery life leaves a little to be desired for, but I have plenty of rechargeable AA batteries, and I usually leave the scanner plugged in when Im at work or home. Really happy with this scanner.

> 24 hourRadio is good. there is a learning curve but isnt bad for those who are familiar with electronic radios. Found everything i needed to program this via youtube, radioreference, and the owners manual. Only complaint is that the software for firmware updates is windows only, No Mac software available. Uniden ships the unit with 2015 firmware, which needs to be updated with a windows pc. :-/

> 24 hourI payed full price for this scanner which is listed as new but it is clearly not new and on top of that it says batteries included both in description and in the manual, but there are no batteries and the box is smashed a little and there are scratches on the screen. The manuals are dirty like someone has handled them a lot. Also the twist tie that is on the USB cable looks like it came off a bread wrapper it is not what they use in packaging these scanners. I will see if it works after writing this review. The Scratches are hard to see when I took pictures but the slightly damaged box and bread wrapper twist tie are easily seen. There was no plastic protective bag on the scanner and no protective film to peal off of the screen.

> 24 hourDad got it as Christmas present for my mom. We used to have an analog one, and would listen during storms or if something was going on in neighborhood. My uncle set it up for her (though it is really easy). They picked through which areas/channels she wanted to be able to listen to. She loves it! My dad was trying to decide between much cheaper one and then this one, I forget what his final reasoning was but he went for this one and is very happy.

> 24 hourI have the BCD325P2 scanner and I love it. It took me a while to get the hang of programming it manually, but then I found ProScan, which is an online software that allows you to control and program the scanner from a computer. The scanner feels sturdy and the included antenna does its job. However, even though I live in Los Angeles County, I found that the scanner antenna wasnt cutting it for picking up frequencies throughout LA County, so I bought and set up a rooftop discount antenna and ran cable into my home, and the quality of what Im picking up now is just amazing. I gave this scanner 4, rather than 5, stars because unlike its big brother in the 436 series scanner, this one only has capacity for two AA batteries. The most amount of time Ive gotten out of it was about 2-2.5 hours with the backlight on. Given that most of the time the scanner is on my desk, its always connected to the computer and thus isnt running off batteries. However, for those times when I will need to take the scanner mobile with me, Ill need to bring the USB cable and find a portable charger to go.
