A month ago we moved our 2.5 year old to a bed and since then its been a nightmare keeping her in her room. Bedtime and naps have become something we dread. My daughter would take over an hour to settle down mostly from screaming and not wanting to stay in her bed, waking up countless times at night and then waking somewhat early. Out of desperation I looked for a childs melatonin and read the reviews for this. This is the second night I gave it to her. Last night she woke up 1x and then woke for good at 4 am. No bueno. Tonight she was out again as soon as we were done with our bedtime routine. So its either an amazing product or there is something more in here that is drugging my child. I gave it to her one hour before bedtime which is too soon after experiencing two nights of this because within 30 min she becomes very relaxed, and very tired. Almost a different child because its like going from a wild child to someone who is stoned. So while I want to be enthusiastically excited about this, at the same time I am kinda nervous that there is more in the pills. I noticed it says Sleep with Melatonin so in the back of my head I thought is there something else thats not on the ingredient list. I couldnt find anything else on the label. So the jury is still out. If I wasnt always concerned about whats in supplements Id easily say this is a miracle supplement for my daughter to get her over this transition hurdle. But I think as a test, Im going to take one myself and see what it does. I take a high dosage of melatonin and it does nothing for me so if this makes me drowsy then I know something else is in there that they arent advertising. Stay tuned! *****Update - I still use this and cut it down to 1/2 a pill. It still relaxes her especially on nights where shes super wound up. The downside is she always wakes early in the morning when we give it to her. Im still going to use it though.

Tried other melatonin for my kids but these are the ones my kids like. they are chewable. they like the flavor. so i guess that is a downside becuase i have to hide them or they would eat them all. but with in 10 minutes of them eatting one they are already tired.

I have two very energetic kids who no matter how much outdoor activity they were on, they still struggle to fall asleep at night. At first, I was hesitant to give any type of medication to the children for worrying about any potential reaction or side effects. But after thorough research, I found this product and so far my kids are getting tremendous help as well as my husband and I who had been suffering from sleep deprivation. The kids seem to fall in deep sleep and wake up feeling fresh. Also, the pill comes with great grape taste and kids love them. But I only recommend giving this to them every now and then so that they are not building any immunity to this melatonin and also possibly getting addicted to them.

Our 14 month old has had sleep issues at night ever since he was about 5 or 6 months. We tried everything including sleep training, keeping sleep logs, trying to get his naps consistent, using a heating pad in the crib, etc., etc., etc. Nothing has worked and he got to the point where we could put him to sleep on our bed at about 8pm and he would wake up every 15-20 minutes until 11pm or midnight. We couldnt enjoy OUR lives as he needed near 18 hour a day attention. Our last pediatrician recommended 1mg melatonin tablets. One review mentioned they are very strong and even a quarter of a pill can knock out an adult. I used that as a measuring point and started with half a pill and it definitely helps. We give him the pill and a bottle of milk and within 10 minutes he is completely drowsy and ready for sleep. He still wakes up 2-3 times until we go in the room and co-sleep with him around 11pm but it has made life MUCH easier. That said, I am not comfortable giving him a full 1mg. You can see an OBVIOUS change when he takes the pill and I dont even like giving him .5mg but at this point we have no other ideas. I feel like I am drugging my child to sleep which I am not comfortable with. I will add that during the day he is a much happier toddler, likely because he is getting much better sleep at night which makes me think that overall it is helping him. BUT, it is a dangerous slope. Your body can become dependent on it and .5mg becomes 1mg which becomes 2mg, etc. So, we plan on weaning him off of it slowly to see what happens. Its NOT a solution but a bandaid. From what weve read there is not enough long-term studies regarding children. Weve also read that in parts of Europe you need a prescription to get Melatonin. Take that for whatever its worth. If youre in a pinch go ahead and try it. Do not look at it as a long-term strategy unless prescribed by a doctor and even then I would get a second opinion. It will most likely help your child get to sleep but if they have other issues preventing them from a good nights sleep it is not going to work forever. You will end up gradually upping the dose until it is no longer healthy. We just hope to get over this hump until he learns how to better soothe himself to sleep.
