Zoo Med Floating Turtle Log

> 24 hourso the claim that this log will “never sink” is simply false. i got one of these for my eastern painted turtle years ago, and after maybe 2ish years, it began to sink and is now to the point that it doesn’t float at all. in addition to that, the paint comes off over time, especially if you clean it with a toothbrush like i do (which is kind of necessary in my opinion as it collects algae in all the little crevices). so, i decided it was finally time to replace it. my turtle really likes the log and often prefers it to his basking dock. sometimes he’ll even sleep on the log. i’d give it 5 stars if it truly never sunk but considering that it takes multiple years to lose its buoyancy, it still gets 4 stars.

> 24 hourJust to let you know in advance that this log is great but it is way larger than I expected. While that explains the price, it was too large for the turtle container which we have since released to the wild... where he came from. We now use it in a window for our love birds to play in, they love it! LOL...

> 24 hourThis log is nice for baby turtles, or to sit on the bottom of the tank. But as a floating log it flipped our turtle upside down.

> 24 hourI have two smaller painted turtles who both love to bask upon this log. I have had this log for about three years now, and while it does show some wear (ala color loss due to the lamps) it still works fine. However, if you do have larger turtles it might be best to not buy this product (most pet stores have this in stock, so you can go over there to get an idea to see how big this actually is).

> 24 hourGreat for water turtles, will not spin and floats well, They are not very big, a large works well in a 20 gallon long tank

> 24 hourI bought this for our red ear slider and soft shell turtle. Unfortunately they are not on top of it much but seems to enjoy the inside of the log.

> 24 hourI have an RES hatchling and he has finally begun to use this log. In the beginning, I was worried that it was too steep for him to climb up... but thats not the case at all. He slowly started to warm up to me and started begging for food at every single opportunity he got... so I got sneaky. I started putting the food pellets on top of this log. When I came home from work, I noticed them to be mysteriously gone. Was he actually basking during the day? Had I been worried for nothing? Gradually, he started to feel comfortable going on his log even when I was in the same room. He now regularly perches on top of his log and extends his cute little head out for some UVA/UVB lights :-) Mine is a baby, less than an inch, and is faring well. The log is bottom heavy so it will NOT tip over. I plunk it in the water upside down and it immediately rights itself over. It is not sharp so when he slides off it to go back in the water I am not worried about his shell getting scratched. It is aesthetically pleasing and natural looking. Definite buy!
