I bought this kit to chase some threads in the lawn tractor engine we are working on. The actual bit was plenty sharp, and ended up working well. However, the handle that hold the bit did not clamp down on the bit itself. It would slip unless I use pliers to sock it down. I will be buying a better handle as the bits look good and the case is well laid out.

Dont listen to the other reviews that complain about this set. If you are a weekend warrior looking to tap a few holes every now and then, this set will do the trick, at a very reasonable cost. Heres some tweaks to help resolve some issues mentioned in other reviews: -Leave the foam piece in the box that it comes with, and nothing will shift around when carrying. -Use drops of blue or red Loctite on the tap handle threads, to keep them from unscrewing during operation. -Put a little grease on the threads of the small tap handle collet. This will make gripping taps a smoother process. A tap is only as good as your technique. Do the following to get good threads every time: -Use the correct tap drill size! Look up a printable chart on google images, and tape it on the wall above the toolbox. -Use tapping oil, like Tap Magic. A little container goes a long way, and makes all the difference in the world. Apply a couple drops to every hole you tap. If tapping steel, youll want to apply several drops throughout. -Check the tap alignment, front and back, left and right, before starting to cut the threads. -Turn the tap 1/2 a turn or less, and back it out slightly to break the chip. If you are doing a deeper hole, or tapping steel, you will need to remove the tap periodically for cleaning and re-oiling. -Blow out the threaded holes before usage; remaining chips and particles in them can cause galling during use. -Do the same for the dies, but make sure the starting workpiece OD is correct! Periodic removal isnt necessary, since you can clean these out with compressed air externally. Definitely still use oil! Do all of that, and you will be please with this set. Hope that helps.
