I rented this for viewing with a Girlfriend and her two Grandsons ( 11 and 9 ). We watched it for about 45 minutes and they ( the boys ) got up and left the room. We watched it for a few more minutes and I got a peck on the Cheek and an at-a-boy for my effort. Just about then we heard some commotion coming from the other end of House. When we went to see what was going on the two Boys where play fighting like Batman and Robin. Im not kidding, their Mother went looking for the camera and said lets get a picture before they go back to their x-box. They tired out and wanted to watch it from the beginning, which we did. I had not watched this since I was their age ... this Movie is pure magic.

I am a big Batman Fan, and when I saw this on dvd , I had to have it. Even though many think that the 1960s Batman was campy & corny, it is still fun to watch, and you can polk some fun at the fact that the Caped crusaders always had the right item on their belts to escape all types of trouble. Im not sure if the blue ray makes a big difference in the quality, however I have no complaints. I actually give it 4and 1/2 stars.

I never realized how very funny the writing was for the 1966 movie. I remember it being very camp (a stigma that movies about comic book heroes had to endure for some time), but having watched it again last night for the first time in many a year, I found myself laughing at a lot of its outrageous gags (one of my favorites was when they report they are just passing the Benedict Arnold Monument, like someone in America would build a monument to Arnold, LOL). The picture quality for the Blu-ray high def release is excellent, with vibrant colors and the audio is good. There are a number of extras that fill out the disc. There are two commentaries, one by screenwriter Lorenzo Semple, Jr., and the other with Adam West and Burt Ward. There is a short featurette with George Barris, creator of the Batmobile. An interactive map of locations can be played while watching the movie, and while the map spotlights can jump from Santa Barbara (for the wharf where Batman runs with the bomb) to the studio in Culver City where interiors were shot there is an option to pull up factoids, photos, and map directions to the locations. There are featurettes on the heroes and the villains, and more. All in all, a fun Blu-ray disc to purchase.

I had the pleasure of watching this movie -- and the accompanying TV series -- in two different, but equally enjoyable, phases: First, as a 4th grader when they were first released in the 60s -- when I took them at face value as super hero adventure stories; and later, as an adult, reveling in the campy humor and the droll, dead-pan delivery of Adam West. This is a very corny movie -- but in a good way! Lots of fun. I especially enjoyed watching it while listening to the commentary by West and Burt Ward. And by the way, though Im not a kid any more, I still want that Batmobile in my garage, and want to take the Bat Boat out for a high-speed run!

Almost all the fun of the Batman TV Show without the commercials (sadly, no Batgirl)! Take the entire regular cast of the TV Show, add in the best villains, stir in a romance between Bruce Wayne and Catwoman with a heavy dose of camp and you have Batman: The Movie (1966). ***Spoilers May Occur Below*** When the Joker (Ceasar Romero), Penguin (Burgess Meredith), the Riddler (Frank Gorshin) and Catwoman (Lee Meriwether) join forces to steal a device that will dehydrate anything in order to kidnap the entire United World Central Committee, you know that only Batman and Robin can save the day! Not only do B&R get outwitted a few times, but Bruce Wayne falls for (and almost converts) Catwoman (disguised as Kitka). The regular hi-jinks occurs ending with, you guessed it, Batman and Robin saving the day and the world in the end--even though we do find out that Batman is not perfect in the final return of the Central Committee. Whip out the buttered popcorn, get that giant slurpee, sugar yourself up with a large movie-sized Raisinettes and Milk Duds and lay back in your easy chair to remember what it was like to go to the movies or watch Batman on the daily serialized TV Show. Same Bat Time! Same Bat Channel!

When I was growing up Batman was the show to watch on Wednesday and Thursday nights to find out if the Dynamic Duo would get out of their latest pickle. This 1966 movie was released at the height of the Batman craze. Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman and Robin were fun to watch along with the villains featuring some of the best names of entertainment including Burgess Meredith, Cesar Romero, Frank Gorshin and Lee Meriweather. Good story, and just plain fun! I am also a fan of the Batman series of movies from 1989 through the 1990s plus the Batman Returns movie of a few years back. Holy Movie Entertainment!

Maybe Ive been spoiled by the outstanding visual quality of the Blu-ray release of the television series, but to my eyes, the DVD version of this movie had better color saturation and the Blu-ray only very, very slightly improves on the overall picture sharpness and quality. Also, while the new bonus features are fun and are a nice addition, I do wonder why the From The Files Of Adam West photo gallery included on the 2001 DVD release was left off of the Blu-ray version. Surely there was enough room on the disc for its inclusion? While this isnt the only Blu-ray release of a movie that has dropped bonus features found on their older DVD versions, when everything else from the DVD has been ported over its a mystery why this one thing wasnt. Its kind of annoying to have to hold on to your old DVD for just one gallery of photos.
