BroadLink Smart Plug (NoAPP Version), Mini Wi-Fi Timer Smart Outlet Socket Works with Alexa/Google Home/IFTTT, No Hub Required, Remote Control Anywhere

I am having additional lighting installed in my Alexa enabled smart home and purchased these outlets so my new lighting will have voice control. I set one of these up and added the skill to Alexa and it works great. Hope my electrician can get these installed so all my pendants and under cabinet lights will be voice controlled. The price was reasonable. Im very happy with this purchase.

I have a Nest Mini. Plugged the big fan at the end of my bed into this little guy so that I could turn the fan on/off without getting out of bed. Setup was easy, instructions were easy to follow. Works perfectly.

Late delivery. Why do i pay for Amazon Prime? Ok, the important part. DOES NOT WORK WITH ALEXA. It works, on it’s own, after you install 2 different apps. Both from Broadlink. But then try to link it to Alexa and you’re out of luck. First it wants you to create an account so they can get your email address. Then it wants access to Bluetooth. Then it wants to go on and on. I gave up. Will work it from their app. Again, it works, but is needlessly complicated in setting up. It’s like trying to install a 3rd party app on an iPad. Ok so it was $20 cheaper than an Amazon SmartPlug (that are way overpriced) but it almost isn’t worth it. Buy it if you want a cheap alternative to Amazon but don’t expect it to work with Amazon. Oh yeah, did i mention setting a routine? 24 hour clock. Who made this thing? The French? ************** 5 months since purchased. Stopped working. ******************

The smart plug resets itself about every 90 seconds. Which is annoying because its hooked up to a light. Ive even tried just using it as a digital switch, removing all the timers and everything out of the settings. I dont know. Its just junk. Too bad I thought it was a problem with high power draw for an another device now I am out of the return window.

I bought one of these smart plugs about six months ago specifically because this one advertised as not requiring an app, which was perfect because I already have other smart plugs from other cheap Amazon manufacturers and didnt want more crummy smart home apps on my phone. That original plug set up easily with wifi and has been working flawlessly ever since. Fast forward to now, when I bought a new lamp for a different room and wanted another no-app smart plug, so I reordered the exact same plug as before. This one showed up and despite being advertised as no app (again, the ONLY REASON I bought it) now requires an app to function. Ok?? Well that was obnoxious but I already had it in hand so I said whatever and downloaded their garbage app onto my phone and set it up. If that was it, I would have probably still been decently satisfied with this purchase, except that this stupid plug just... turns off, every once in a while, for a few seconds, for no reason?? Ill be sitting there, and the lamp will just turn off and Ill have to sit in the dark for about 10 seconds, and then turn back on again. It happens very frequently, probably about every half hour or so. I tried plugging the lamp directly into the wall and it didnt happen, so its 100% the plugs fault. To add insult to injury this plug also cant be found by my Google home device with frustrating regularity which results in me having to bend over and push the button on the plug manually to turn it off so I can go to bed, which is even less convenient than if I didnt have the plug at all. Anyway I have to assume that the seller recently changed manufacturers or something because this is simply not the same product as it was before. Be weary of the good reviews here because they are most likely for a different product than the one youre hoping to buy.

Did work to good

I used 6 of these smart plugs for my Christmas lights inside and outside my house. All the plugs were wirelessly connected to Alexa so all I had to do to turn on/off all the lights was to give the command one time. It really made the process easier!

Awkward length compared to my round smart plug. Wish there was a manual override for non-smart phone user. Difficult to set up. I had to try several times, following instructions. Has ability to place a timer on plug.

Cheap and nice sized. Takes up only one outlet. Works with Alexa.

I found this device far more difficult to set up than most wifi outlets. It took hours to get it to finally work. Once set up, it works fine.
