I plan on using the rechargeable battery that comes with the radio most of the time. But I like the idea of having back up power just in case. The first thing I did when the AA battery adapter pack arrived was try it out to make sure it works as promised, and it did. The nice thing about AA batteries is that they are widely available. Where as the proprietary battery that comes with radio has a limited life span. Also like the fact that the AA pack can use either alkaline or nickel metal hydride batteries, and come with provisions that allow you to use either voltage type battery.

Not much to say, it powered my radio just fine off the 12V socket and I was able to save my battery for when I arrived at my destination

Ive purchased several things from BTech. The latest was a AA Battery Pack. It works like its supposed to. There are a lot of cheap counterfeit Baofeng accessories on E-Bay and other places. Dont go there. Go straight to BTech to get real Baofeng radios and accessories that really work. Lots of cheap programming cables out there that dont work. Get the real ones from BTech.

At this price, a responsible radio user should have a few charged spares available for each of their radios, for any contingency/operation/emergency.

I have an older Bao Feng UV-5R. The battery would not fit. The battery would not fully engage when insertion into the radio was attempted. I had to remove, with a Dremel tool, a portion of the case. It for, lack of a better description, the portion within a half ellipse area on the front of the case. After grinding this area away. the fit was good. The battery takes a charge well and holds the charge well. All in all , good battery. Would buy again.

Even though this accessory could be a bit more substantive, (feels cheap and took some modification to the detent to snap into radio), other aspects work as advertised. It shows a max of 7.8W going into the radio (BF F8HP) when holding down the SQL button to check wattage, but the full charge on a battery pack is 8.4. Contacted BTech about this and they said this is normal. It is what it is and is a good accessory to have to save your batteries. Great to have and it really saves on your batteries! I now have two of them for the power supply I have in my house and it works fine. BaoFeng Tech personnel have ALWAYS BEEN HELPFUL AND WILL REPLACE DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS AND WITH NO HASSLE. They replaced a defective battery eliminator upon request and after going through the RMA process. A reputable company is important when buying electronics mail order... I recommend buying ONLY from BaoFeng Techwhen buying any BaoFeng radio equipment.

The battery increases the length of the radio. Replacing it with the stock battery makes the radio compact.

Purchased this unit to power a Baofeng BF-F8HP handheld in my 4x4. Plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and eliminates the need for using the radio battery. Super convenient for those needs.
