So if youre like, most people who travel, retrieving your luggage is a pain in the a**. You go to the carousel. And 9 out of 10 bags look exactly like yours. Theres always some hillbilly pushing people out of the way grabbing the wrong suitcase etc. So I decided to buy some gaffers tape because its designed to adhere to a surface with a strong bond yet is easily removed and causes no damage to the surface. I put big purple exes on my suitcase (s) now Im literally the first person out of the baggage claim had. I absolutely know its my luggage. Cheap fix, and about a million uses for this tape... I chose it obnoxiously bright color just so I could see it.

This was my first time using gaffers tape, so I can’t compare this tape to any other brands. I was looking for a solution to a wire going across a walkway in my living room. I didn’t want the vacuum to get caught on it, and I wanted it to blend into the floor better than black or grey cable covers. This tan gaffers tape was the best option that I could think of. It keeps the wire in place and from being a trip hazard (for people, dogs, and the vacuum). It doesn’t collect dirt or dog hair, though I’m sure eventually it will get dirty enough that I need to put a fresh piece of tape down. Thankfully I have a whole roll that I can use in the future. I think it’ll last a long time, so this purchase was a good value for my purposes.

The camo color is very nice but not as sticky as other brands. Not impressed considering the price. American made though so that is a big plus!

Was using gorilla tape for everything. I’m glad that I found this because it leaves no residue and holds well.

I work in IT. We run wires everywhere, be it extension cords or networking bundles. I have come to love gaffers tape as the soft super-viable alternative to the all-purpose duct tape when it comes to those types of jobs. At first, I bought whichever was cheapest, and slowly my lovely bundles of cords were becoming ugly with residue. After one particularly bad cheap roll which left one of the cords a different color a team member couldn’t take it anymore and spoke up. I was sufficiently schooled in the “right types” of gaffers tape, but I didn’t believe so I told them to put Some skin in the game. So they were going to buy this roll if I thought it was the same. Well, I’m pleased to say I paid for this roll. Just picking it up I could tell that this was softer and more pliable. It ripped easier. It stuck fast to carpet and came up easily with residue once pulled. It didn’t fold when unrolling and frustrate my crew by bonding to itself. I was able to cut into very thin strips and use as a temporary zip tie! Best of all, I found out that you can use this tape to REMOVE the residue that the bad tape left on my cords (also part of my schooling). Team member was in theater and brother still is. This tape is what they use to hold together their sets, and now I use it to hold together mine. Sometimes quality difference is great enough that you have to point out the actual price difference. Not that much extra in cost for at least a 200% better product. Buy this tape.

A few months back I was complaining about the mess the duct tape we were using was making on our hot machinery as it melted, and the residue it was leaving when people used it to tape down wires and such. An experienced maintenance guy told me to try gaffers tape. So I did, and Im nigh evangelical now: Avoid using duct tape for anything that gets hot (duct tape melts and gets gross), or anything you dont want a sticky residue on later (I dont have time to goo-gone every darn thing.) Gaffers tape stays put better, has equivalent tensile strength, tears off more neatly, doesnt melt with heat, and isnt shiny (well, its used for taping down wires and taping hot things in place on movie/theater sets; you dont want it to be shiny, you want it to be subtle.) Im not in theater or movies, but it works awesome for everything I need it to do also, and I love how it doesnt leave a mess or melt. I cant think of anything duct tape does better except tape stuff up so you can throw it away. Well, and duct tape *is* cheaper, if you arent the one cleaning up after it or reapplying it. You want to avoid any gaffer tape that looks like its made from paper, is shiny, or is made in China; theyre phony, and will melt, burn, or otherwise not be up to scratch. Im sure there are many great brands that are good, but this one is what I found first, it worked very well, and Ill be buying more of it. I recommend you buy a roll and see how it works for you.

Listen — if you are buying gaffer tape on amazon, my understanding is that it isn’t the pro-grade stuff. Pros use gaffer tape to secure extremely expensive equipment, cables, etc, and can afford to pay a premium price for a product that can be tax deducted as a business expense. For me, I just wanted something that was highly-adhesive, tearable by hand, and removable without leaving significant residue — and this has been great. I used it to build a light-box for photography, and it has secured all of the LED panel lights, filters, magnets, and paper linings without adding reflections or glare, and it has been extremely secure. I haven’t tested it outdoors or in wet environments, but that’s not really what it is intended for. Basically, if you are looking for awesome consumer grade gaffer tape to add to your adhesive armamentarium, this is a pretty good choice. I’ll definitely be getting it again, and probably in black from the same manufacturer.
