I dropped 1 star only because you have to use the Geeni App to set up schedules. But beyond that I am able to use my Google Nest to voice control them. And hey, if I am wrong about the setting schedules in Google home, PLEASE let me know how its done.

This is the second one I bought, as the first one I had to throw away (past return window). The electrical connection screws are sooo soft and broke on the first socket which made the whole thing useless. I didnt over tighten thee screws either, but an electrical connection should at least be snug. The socket itself works fine and has full and independent control of each standard socket and the USB port, which is what i needed. Its just a shame the screws were so cheap. Beware!

I was looking for some smart outlets to control a white noise machine, air filters, and a bunch of lamps. I picked this item because it had 2 USB ports in addition to 2 AC outlets. For the price, its great to see the inclusion of the USB ports. One quirk of this device is that each outlet appears as 4 devices: - Top plug - Bottom plug - USB outlets - Entire outlet This is great for customizability, but since you can create scenes/routines in the app to control multiple devices with one command, its unnecessary to make the entire outlet appear as another device. If you install a bunch of these all over your house, it can quickly become confusing. Although I thought it would be convenient to have USB plugs built-in to the outlet, I found that I never used them because if you have a new-ish phone, they all require fast-chargers or else it will charge slowly. When its installed and powered on, the reset button has a little blue light to tell you that the outlet is working. This is kind of convenient, but its really bright in the bedroom. If you have a bunch of them installed, theyre basically bright enough to be used as night lights. One other thing that I noticed is that the WiFi on the outlet is not very strong. We were using a single WiFi router in our house, but in order to use these, we had to upgrade to a mesh WiFi router. I wouldnt take off any start for this though because theres a lot of technology crammed into a tiny wall outlet, so I didnt expect the WiFi antenna to be extremely strong. Just be aware that even if your laptop or phone can access your WiFi from the same location, this WiFi outlet might not be powerful enough to find it. For a review of the physical aspects of the outlet, I dont think this outlet is as high quality as outlets from Lutron or Legrand. When you plug in something, it feels slightly notchy. This is probably an extremely nit-picky comment, but it was easier to plug in things into the standard AC plug that this replaced. Overall, the plug works as described. - The Geeni app is pretty easy to use and integrate with Amazon Echo - Theres very little lag, which used to be a problem with Smart Home devices - A lot of features for the price (extra USB ports) Im giving this 4 stars because its almost perfect. Maybe in the future, theyll add a way to disable the blue LED.

We purchased this to try to police computer time for one of my children, they have bypassed other parental control mechanisms we have applied so I thought going to first principles and policing power to the computer was the next step. It does have a scheduling mechanism, which is nice but it does not lock out the outlet outside of the scheduled time. Instead, it simply flips the relay to on or off with each scheduled task as dictated by the schedule. It is still useful to remotely control the power outlet BUT it is not great as a power policing tool which is what I originally purchased it for. Some observations so far: - I was always taught never to use the “holes” on the back of an electrical switch because they are “fire hazards” and to use the brass screws directly, the nature of the screw mechanism on this switch meant I had to use those holes; they are not spring loaded though (which is the fire hazard concern according to my electrician friend) so it’s probably not an issue but it does make some use of the switch more awkward. - Metal plate under load/neutral screws is fixed meaning you can not place 3 wires under the plate and you have to use a pig-tail and nut to connect larger circuits. - Screws are not the same size as regular wall plates, had to make sure I used their screws and not the screws that came with the wall plate. I wasted a few minutes trying to get the Lutron plate screws to work before I realized it was the crew threading/diameter that was the issue. - I had to resort to AP mode-pairing, which is not a huge deal but I wasted about 20 minutes trying to get it to pair the default way. The AP is feet away, its not clear why the default pairing mechanism was not working. - I found I had to kill the application in some flows to start over, I got caught in a FAQ screen describing how to pair but I couldnt get back to try again. - USB ports are on one circuit so if you connect more than one device it will charge slower than it would otherwise. - USB is also not a fast charger, in 2020 that’s really a shame. - It is a tight fit in the old work metal boxes in my 1980s home, it does fit just barely though, to be fair the same is true of the prior USB outlet in this location. Overall for what it does, it appears to do it well, it is made well, and with a little bit of work on the design, I think it could be a great product.

I had to manually pair to my wifi network a few times but eventually it worked.

Got these so when working nights (swing shift) we can set the game area to shut off, you use these to kill the area with Xboxes and the internet to hopefully keep them from staying up late when its there for bed time. You can use these in conjunction with their lights and have the area the kids play or whatever dim as it gets closer to bed time to serve as a visual indicator to start winding down. It was a little tough getting them set up, they turn off mid set up and if you let it time out it wont connect, simply stay close and when the outlet turns off mid connection ( little blue light goes off) turn it on again and it should connect. Had it time out over a dozen times trying all methods recommended by Geeni and found online and finally just turning it back on again before the app times out during connection fixed the issue.

Bought these to schedule a hutch and 2 curio cabinet lights. Was really easy to swap out existing outlets and hookup to the Geeni app and therefore wifi was a snap. Setting a on/off schedule was easy. Didnt look at using Alexa controls for what Im using them for. Will need to look around for other outlet swaps. Like the idea that you can control both outlets for different stuff.
