> 3 dayI needed a smart plug but did not have room behind a dresser. In searching for a plug that would plug in from either the side top or bottom I came across this plug. I thought I would try it. Well first it is so easy to install, it installs just like a normal receptacle. After loading the geenie app I tied it into my network and the plugs just worked. All I had to do was to link it to my Alexa app which was very straightforward and presto the thing worked. You can actually control each plug individually. Super but I need to see if there is a way to just have a way to control both at the same time.

> 3 dayReplaced 9 outlets and it is very easy to do. Now, no more changing all of the timers around the house when the time changes twice a year.

> 3 dayThis outlet is pretty big, hard to fit into older boxes. A regular trim plate fits it nicely though. It connected right up to my wifi using the Avatar controls app. I like this one over some of the others because the one button turns on both outlets and is easy to find. I wish the button was lit when the outlets were off so a person could find it in the dark though.

> 3 dayI never thought that Id use smart anything devices. However, I started using wifi plugs for security. Some allow random on/off and others just offer scheduled times. I decided to give these wifi outlets a try. They work, but Ive been having problems getting them to sync with my network, but Im hoping that it is only because they are a bit further away from my extender. Ill keep experimenting when the temperature is better.

Greater than one weekThe Geeni Smart Wi-Fi Wall Outlet is a bit of a hassle to physically install. But it works perfectly once configured using a compatible control app. It tends to be a few dollars less expensive than identical receptacle sold by the competition. That said, there are a few issues with this product that bare mentioning. The Geeni (a.k.a., MyGeeni) is simply another private-label reseller of this rather ubiquitous Chineseum-built app-managed product. Youll find this exact model sold under a variety of brand names (e.g.: Lumary, TopGreener, et al), so shop around for the best price. (Indeed, as I write this Geeni sells this receptacle--rebranded as the Current--for few dollars lower than other resellers here on Amazon.) This IoT (Internet of Things) device is managed by a handful of control apps, and its setup and configuration are straightforward with a compatible control app. I use Smart Life, and this receptacle integrates seamlessly into a Smart Life domain. I had zero difficulties adding/integrating each Geeni Current receptacle into my Smart Life domain. As this specific receptacle is rebranded by various private label entities, the following issues are typical of the device, regardless of brand. - The receptacle is only manufactured white; it is not available in any of the other standard in-wall device colors; ivory, almond, and brown. - A manual power override button resides in the middle of the receptacle that is also critical for device setup. This button is backlit by a bright blue LED. Nether the button function nor its backlight can be disabled within the control app. - Dimensionally, this receptacle is LARGE: It fills the box and leaves very little room for wires and wire connectors. If you find the receptacle does not slip fully into your existing electrical box, you must replace the box with one of sufficient volume, which is no casual exercise. It requires the use of a pigtail connection. (Simply cut three 6 conductors and fasten them appropriately to the conductors in the box with suitable-size wirenuts.) - The manufacturer includes a flimsy plastic Decora-style wall plate with included non-standard plate screws. If you choose to use your OWN Decora-style wall plate (as I did), you must increase the plate screw holes with a #35 (7/64) drill bit in order to use standard plate screws.

> 3 dayThe entire process is a bit involved, but once you get the first one installed and operational, adding more is easy. Ability to control the power to each plug on a different schedule or Alexa voice command. Use these on holiday and security lights.

> 3 dayThis device clearly has the best features of any such devices Ive tried. 1) It fit in the outlet box of my old (1943) house. 2) It has connections for solid wire instead of using pigtails and connectors that take up space in the box. 3) The base plate is steel allowing the ground connection to be made through the metal box. 4) Both outlets have the same orientation. 5) Each outlet and the USB connections can be controlled individually by wifi (Alexa). 6) The device was recognized and initiated by the SmartLife app so I didnt need the Geeni app.

> 3 dayBottom Line Upfront: Device Does Not Work With Alexa Details: There is a problem with either the firmware of the device and/or the Alexa Skill. The device will add correctly to the Geeni app and has all functionality from there, but when discovery is run on Alexa, only the bottom socket and the USB are “found” and controllable. I reached out to Geeni engineering over a week ago and have heard nothing. This is a major engineering failing and shows that the head of that department is totally useless in their role.

> 3 dayI had high hopes for this but it took me forever to install since one of the sides would not loosen enough for the wires to be placed through. It took a dozen attempts and different people to try to finally make it work. Once in, I set it up but realized once you plug in a USB, you can use up to one of the regular plugs but you cannot use the second plug since there is no space from the USB being in use and taking up space. I bought this to use my Alexa with but Alexa will turn off all but the USB so it defeated my purpose. I wish I could return it.
