I got this for my birthday recently after shopping for it myself and telling my wife I wanted it. The sound is good but less high fidelity than I was expecting based on reading a number of the 5 star Amazon reviews. The bass is good for a speaker its size but the midrange and highs dont blow me away. I think the mids and highs from my daughters JBL Charge 3 are better while the Charge and Onyx are similarly priced. This seems about on par in the mids and highs with my Amazon Alexa first generation though the bass on the Onyx is clearly better. The Onyx arent terrible by any means but just not what I was expecting. It connects easily to my Android phones Bluetooth and the battery lasts so far for the advertised 8 hours. Ive answered a couple phone calls through it without a problem as well.

A wonderful speaker, perfect choise for those who want to combine powerful home speaker with high-quality sound (without needing to buy a whole surround system, that I can only install and use in one room) with something easy to move around. You wont find anything near this good for this price! I dont need to move my laptop around rooms anymore, but I take the speaker with me to whichever room at home I go. Good bass (very important to me), but still mild overall sound, meaning your neighbours wont be knocking on your door/walls for keeping them awake at night (oh, and I do play quite often at 1am...). The only downside Ive observed is in the bluetooth connectivity - sometimes it plays from a long distance, other times the signal gets distorted behind two walls. So its a little unpredictable... Its cool you can link multiple devices to it, so you dont have to pair-unpair, for example when youve gathered friends and you change ppl playing the music. Works well. Overall, recommend, great choise!

I like the notch in the top that makes it easy to carry around with you. The sound is excellent with exceptional clarity. It paired up with my iPhone/Pandora so easily. So far it seems like the battery lasts a very long time after hours of play. I recommended it to family.

Hello, I thought I would help anyone interested in a superb Bluetooth speaker. The Harmon Kardon Onyx is one of my fav. Speakers. This model is their 4th generation. The speaker has amazing full range sound being from low to mid to high. The speaker does retail for a lot and is well worth it. I use to have the second gen and just recently had to upgrade to the new model. The battery life is not too bad. About 9 hours of play back. You can leave it plugged in charging and use it at the same time. Also their is a HK App. Someone gave it terrible reviews, not sure what their prob is. The speaker does have the option to do stereo sound with another one or even do multi room audio with a bunch connected together. The app is where you can set it up those features. Also in the app has battery status in. You can also tell when your power button light starts blinking your speaker is low on juice. set up your speaker to use Siri with the hi app with the press of a button or just say hey Siri. Works fine too. You can’t go wrong with this speaker. For the price and quality and the sound. You will be amazed. Also one thing Harmon gets right is bass, it’s just right and works.

This speaker’s sound quality is notably inferior to that of the Bose Mini Sound Link II we have been using in the bedroom. I wanted another Bluetooth speaker for my model shop and bought this one based on the reviews I read here. That was a mistake. I am returning it and buying another Bose from the used options offered by Amazon. Should have done that in the first place.

When I first read all of the positive reviews, I found them a little hard to believe regarding how good this speaker sounded vs. how much the speaker cost. Im a big fan of the Bose sound, but I thought what the heck - the price is great so Ill give the speaker a try, and Im glad I did. Ive had this speaker since February and I absolutely love the sound quality. At first, compared to Bose, I thought it sounded very...open and non-room-filling, like the sound fell flat a foot from the speaker when testing in my open-concept living room/dining room (a big joined room). When I moved the speaker into a smaller room - my office - I thought it sounded much more...complete and full. Over time, Ive gotten used to the open sound of this guy vs. my Bose SoundTouch, and overall the sound great IMO - crystal clear, no distortion at higher volumes, solid bass and clear highs and mids. For the price, its darn impressive! I replaced my Bose SoundTouch 10 with this speaker in my bedroom. My only quibble is the power cord - the AC cord keeps falling out of the convertor block. I finally tossed some duct tape on it. Definitely recommend this speaker, huge sound quality bang for your buck!

Crafted to be the best sounding, full featured, portable Bluetooth speaker in its class, The Onyx studio 4 offers two device connections, 8 hours of playtime and Harman Kardon connect+, which allows you to connect 100+ speakers with the same feature with the touch of a button.
