I received this on Christmas and on January 7th the side brush stopped spinning, I am so bummed! I took it apart and found some debris but I didnt think it was enough to cause a malfunction. Upon further research it looks like the side brush motor has already burned out and needs replacing.

The Roomba picks up dust, hair, small areas of dirt and is quite effective. It stops itself at a set of stairs and properly turns itself around to finish the area that its working. I like how when it is finished, it goes back to the charging base.....and if its running out of power, it goes to the charging base as well. Easy to empty the pouch where the dust collects. Works really well and is fun to use. Can also be controlled on your phone through the Roomba app.

Make sure all your cords and cables are picked up off the floor and you still should vacuum every other week or so with a real vacuum and if you have cats youre going to have to clean the hair out of it a cat brush works really well for removing the hair from the vacuum brush. This thing is amazing it cleans the vinyl tiles and the carpet this. The back door area where my cat box is at after Ive cleaned the cat box I left the cat box up out of the area set the vacuum down there press the go button and it takes off and cleans the perfectly when its done it lets me know I pick it up set it on the kitchen floor hit home and it drives right back to the home station docks itself most days it has no problem at all every once in awhile. Someone will leave a wire on the floor for a cell phone and it will eat it. But all you have to do is flip it over push the two little yellow tabs and it easily comes apart a little spinner brush is easily removed with a small Phillips head screwdriver the filter in the compartment that holds the dirt pops right out in his easily rinseable even if this thing only lasts a year it was worth the money to buy it because I dont have to vacuum But like once a month. Between my son who is 12 and my cat I felt like I was spending every day sweeping the kitchen floor from my son dropping food particles everywhere and the cat tracking cat litter up the stairs and all over the kitchen floor. Again worth every penny. Im thinking about buying a second one for the second floor of the house.

Even with a few flaws, this product is well worth the price and certainly makes my house cleaner than when I have to do my own vacuuming! I have four cats and one dog, and so my house is filled with pet hair. Ive had this Roomba for 9 days and Ive run it every day and it is still picking up dirt and pet hair every day, and my floors look great. I love that it works well on both my carpet and linoleum floors, including where I have throw rugs! I have one rug that is a little too thick so the Roomba doesnt climb up on the rug, but the others are no problem. The Roomba will go over my throw rugs with no problem. However, the one main complaint I have is the line where my carpet and linoleum meet. I do not have a wood or metal threshhold between the carpet and linoleum, just the carpet ends and linoleum starts. The Roomba goes from one to the other great, but it leaves a line of pet hair along the edge of the carpet. So after two or three days, I have to go along the edge of the carpet with my fingers or my other vacuum and collect the growing gathering of pet hair. But it is still WAY better than having to vacuum all the time. Granted, Roomba is still a round robot in a square world, but it does a surprisingly good job of getting the dirt and pet hair out of the corners of my house. Not perfect, but again, well worth it for the rest of the work it does. Battery life is about what it says - approximately 90 minutes of vacuuming. Ive had to clean out the brushes twice already, but again I have a ton of pet hair, and its easy to clean out the brushes, so again, well worth it. Id rather take a few minutes a couple of times per week to clean the Roomba than spend an hour or two per week just trying to keep up. I dump the dirt canister every day which is very easy to do. Note I dont have any stairs or cliffs in my house, so that hasnt been an issue, and once it ate the charging cord for my cell phone, but it stopped and told me an error message, and I rescued my charger cord with no problems or damage. Overall, Id buy it again with no hesitation. If I had another floor in my house Id buy another one for that floor. I set mine to run in the afternoons while Im at work, and I love coming home to a clean house!

ok so if i really don’t care what it picks up it’s fine (i have animals so if the goal is to just pick up the excess hair) but if i have something i want it to vacuum it’s so freaking annoying it drives me crazy. with its “adaptive” cleaning pattern it may go over a mess one time bump into the wall and then run away to the other room and never come back before it says the job is “complete”. IT DRIVES ME INSANE. i literally have to babysit this thing whenever it’s running to make sure it actually picks everything up like it obviously helps me more then myself going around the house and vacuuming everyday but dang for this price you would hope it would be just a tad bit smarter. if you can afford it spring for one of the models with the “neat row” cleaning style so then when it hits something it doesn’t just RUN AWAY. the other thing it does is it may take the whole 90 minute charge to sweep my house and STILL miss the mess. like i don’t have time to do this cleaning so i am grateful for the device but i could literally sweep my whole house accurately in a third of the time.

My review is for iRobot Roomba 692. I bought this Roomba to replace my old Ecovacs Deebot N79S, which had started to show its age (earlier than I thought) and stopped cleaning like it used to in the beginning. I made my decision to buy this Roomba based on the reviews, high ratings, and a holiday discount at Amazon. It had much higher rating than the Ecovacs Deebot model I had. It was a wrong decision and heres why: I dont see much difference between the cleanings this Roomba and the old Deebot did (when it was younger, that is). Surely, the Roomba has more suction power, but its not a better vacuum cleaner for what one must pay for it excluding the holiday discount I got. The Roomba is so loud that it rivals my upright vacuum cleaner in that respect. The Deebot was much much quieter. For instance, I didnt have to stop that while I was on the phone. This, I must. I know these mid-level (and low) model robo-vacuums do not have the best programming embedded in them to do smart(er) cleaning, but on an equal level, the old Deebot was much smarter than this new Roomba. I have to say this is dumber. I even started verbally arguing with the thing. I rarely spoke to the Deebot. The days of meaningful silent conversations with my robot cleaner have been long over. :-P This vacuum cleaner is also very forceful; when it hits an object (e.g., a pot sitting on top of a plant stand), it may knock it down. Luckily I was always near my plants when such accident almost happened; I had to gently [honest!] guide the cleaner to somewhere else though it kept wanting to come back. Its unnecessarily fast and forceful. It gets more confused than the Deebot did when detecting gaps and obstacles. When this Roomba hits my office chair while Im sitting in it, it moves both of us for an inch or two. And, no, Im not that light and Im not joking. What kind of motor did they put in it? This Roomba always has hard time finding its home base. No, the base is not in an obscured place. When it is running low on battery, it doesnt seem to power down. It keeps cleaning--as loud and fast it was when it started its job--while looking for its home, which sounds like a great idea for maximizing the amount of cleaning, but then it ends up depleting whatever the charge remaining in its battery and finds itself dead somewhere in the house. I dont remember how many times I had to carry it back to its home. The old Deebot didnt have the same difficulty finding its own home base (which was where I placed the new Roombas) and it powered down when its battery was low. It quietly looked for it and didnt bother with cleaning, which was done already anyway. I am not saying the Deebot never had difficulty in this respect, but it wasnt as consistently bad as the Roomba. I dont care much for the seemingly-fancy smartphone app one must use to operate this Roomba either. I guess its nice to have features like getting a notification when its stuck or when its time to clean out its bin, operating it remotely, and setting its cleaning schedule with ease, but these features quickly turned into non-factors after I had time seeing the cleaner in action. The old Deebot didnt have any of these features--I had to use its rudimentary non-that-remote control device to set anything or control it, but I was happier with the job it performed, which matters more. Also, this Roomba didnt come with a kit that provided extra side brush(es), filter(s)/bin(s), or other parts that need to be changed periodically. The old Deebot came with a kit that provided extra of the same. Its my mistake to assume that the Roomba (for this price) would provide extra parts (at least an extra side brush would be nice as its one of the first things to go). So, all in all, I do not recommend iRobot Roomba 692. After our one-way toxic conversations (monologs, that is) reach to their detrimental peak, Im sending this away (Ill probably donate it with a note on it saying that I wasnt happy with it, but someone else who likes conversations with a strong vacuum while its shouting might -or- drop it off the towns garbage disposal/convenience center without a word). Lastly, one might think that Im recommending Deebot, which could have easily been any other brand. I am not. I used my experience with it as a baseline, which in turn I used to judge Roombas performance in the same house with the same obstacle course. You may already have or get a Deebot and dislike it because your expectations are different than mine. My review is based on my own experience with both. What I put here is merely my opinion. Your mileage may vary, as they say.

I bought this knowing that there are better models out there that does all if the extra scanning and zoning etc. For my home layout however I was ok with the turn on and leave approach. This unit is exactly that. It simply bounces around and cleans the areas it passes on very well. There is a slight method to the madness as it will eventually go back to the spots you thought it missed. Since I use it when no one is around its perfect for me. I also have mainly flat floors so not too sure about deep cleaning

Overall I like it. I’m a first time robot vacuum user. I bought one to daily vacuum my down stairs (which is a mix of tile and carpet) now that we have a dog. Does it do what I need? Yes and I’m satisfied with my purchase. However, the next time I buy one I’ll definitely buy one with more features. It runs out of battery before it makes it home sometimes. When low on battery, it seems to roam around trying to catch the signal for the charger. Sometimes it goes right by it. So I’m not sure what it’s process is on how it goes home. When it does get stuck or run out of battery, it sends you a notification, which is helpful. Also I have the charger on tile and it often moves it around so I need to somehow fasten it to the ground. (Probably with some command strips). Once or twice it’s made it home but isn’t on the charger properly so it won’t have battery to run the next day. I also wish it room mapped so I could have it just do the kitchen area. In the end, these things are not that big of a deal to me because I’m happy to wake up to a vacuumed floor I didn’t have to do myself.

Bought this older model Roomba as a discount/used open box. Great deal. Box arrived and was packaged as new- but no documentation. Not a big deal, just googled it. Machine was clean. Not marks and not dirty. Took a charge and has been working well.

I debated buying one of these robotic vacuum cleaners for years. I was deterred by the price, and also overwhelmed by the variety of models. I finally bit the bullet and bought this model, since it was on a price deal of $199 and offered me 5 interest free payments. Deal! The set up was quite easy! I downloaded the app, and let it go. I named it Hazel and off she went.... and bumped... and did all kinds of willy nilly zig-zagging. We have laminate flooring throughout the majority of our 1200 sq.ft. home. Hazel had trouble navigating underneath my dining room table-- as the design was too narrow for her to get underneath. The chairs were also a maze to navigate, and she kept getting stuck on the corner of my couch. Ive since had to put a stool in that area, so it doesnt get stuck. We have thick carpeting in our master bedroom, so I wasnt expecting much. I was impressed that Hazel went underneath the bed (a place I rarely ever vacuum) and did a pretty good job in that room. We have an area rug in our living room, and its no problem going from laminate floors to the rugs. I love that! Hazel has some difficulty returning back to home base, but Im guessing thats because it has to navigate past my dining room set to get there (I need to figure out a new place for home base). Once the job was completed, I was amazed at how much dog hair and dust was in there. LOTS!! Thats the real reason I wanted a robotic vacuum... our short-haired dog sheds lot. My hallways doesnt have that dirty/dusty look any longer. Of course, I still have to run my bad boy vacuum cleaner! However, Hazel does a pretty good job of maintaining dust and dog hair free floors. I just hope that Hazel lives a long life, because shes a good little helper.
