Better off splurging for the higher end model with camera. Dont let the price hold you back; buy a returned one or use Affirm!

Overall considering the price am very happy with my iRobot purchase. Likes: - Very good vacuuming and suction over various surfaces - Excellent battery charge. It lasts at least an hour - Powerful and speedy motor. It definitely runs faster than its rivals that I have owned before - Overall pretty well made. Dropped it a couple of times with no issues Dislikes: - It sometimes can get confused and vacuum the same area multiple times. Sometimes stairs confuses it enough to require attention. On the other hand it keeps trying to vacuum areas that are blocked off. However, these are mere annoyances - Some parts like the dust bin door are flimsy and can break. Be careful when opening the dust bin door to empty it. Slightly bend it from the middle to release the door - Dust bin could be bigger. Keep an eye on it as if it gets full, this iRobot may not vacuum as well

I bought this knowing that there are better models out there that does all if the extra scanning and zoning etc. For my home layout however I was ok with the turn on and leave approach. This unit is exactly that. It simply bounces around and cleans the areas it passes on very well. There is a slight method to the madness as it will eventually go back to the spots you thought it missed. Since I use it when no one is around its perfect for me. I also have mainly flat floors so not too sure about deep cleaning

After ordering this, a family member with an older model warned me that non-mapping Roombas get stuck a lot, so I was a little concerned. it turns out, I had no reason to be. While this model doesnt map your house (and so isnt quite as efficient), it does a great job of keeping itself from getting stuck and follows a pattern that gets rooms vacuumed effectively. It does have flexible brushes that dislodge larger objects that might be up against a wall or baseboard, but it doesnt clean corners especially well (and obviously cant vacuum stairs), so occasional, manual vacuuming of those areas is still required. It does return to its charging station automatically, but only if it has a clear path AND wifi connection. It also alerts you to problems (like when it vacuumed my daughters phone charger) via the app, but, again, only if it has a good wifi connection - so if you have wifi-dark areas in your home, it might not always work as intended. For the price, Im beyond satisfied. The only reason for the four-star review is that its not as efficient as a mapping model and doesnt hit corners. Its great in every other way!

ok so if i really don’t care what it picks up it’s fine (i have animals so if the goal is to just pick up the excess hair) but if i have something i want it to vacuum it’s so freaking annoying it drives me crazy. with its “adaptive” cleaning pattern it may go over a mess one time bump into the wall and then run away to the other room and never come back before it says the job is “complete”. IT DRIVES ME INSANE. i literally have to babysit this thing whenever it’s running to make sure it actually picks everything up like it obviously helps me more then myself going around the house and vacuuming everyday but dang for this price you would hope it would be just a tad bit smarter. if you can afford it spring for one of the models with the “neat row” cleaning style so then when it hits something it doesn’t just RUN AWAY. the other thing it does is it may take the whole 90 minute charge to sweep my house and STILL miss the mess. like i don’t have time to do this cleaning so i am grateful for the device but i could literally sweep my whole house accurately in a third of the time.

Cleans fairly well. Pain in the neck to clean it.

I never expected this to replace my upright DYSON Animal but Im impressed with its performance from day 1. In the early uses the small size of the dust collector becomes evident but not because my upright wasnt doing the job, but because RoomBa was going under and behind things I havent moved in YEARS! Ive already found the full basket to become less of an issue each use as fewer never been seen in recent times areas like under heavy furniture, are discovered. My only less than 100% is that my run time b4 it runs home seems a good bit below the specs BUT I suspect the run time can be diminished the more times it changes direction and I do have a floor layout that can find it bound up for several minutes . . . I get around 100 minutes <your home may not even need THIS long> p.s. my hair rating reflects Mrs and I have short hair, no dogs or cats. I doubt this would be happy with a long haired dog or cat!

I’ve had this vacuum a while now and it works great on hard floors and is convenient not to have to vacuum the entire apartment . However, I have an area rug in one room and carpet in my living room and have to go over them with my Dyson upright to get what my robot vacuum missed, even after running the robot 3 times in one day, my Dyson had an empty canister and picked up a lot of left over dust and pet hair.

It does a terrific job climbing up on to my rugs from the hardwood, and over bits of trim between rooms. It manages the cat fur tumbleweeds all over my house. It avoids falling down the stairs every time. I have about 800 square feet on my main floor, and the robot gets that job tackled in about 70 minutes. About one out of a dozen times it will get hung up on my pedestal style dining table. It goes up the pedestal foot like a ramp, it’s wheels come off the floor and it hangs there helpless. Then it calls me for help. No big. I wish it had a lower profile so it could clean under my couch. That feels like a couch problem though, not a robot problem. I occasionally wish I’d splurged on a model with mapping so I could ask it to clean a specific room while I’m not in it. That sounds like a me problem though, not a robot problem. A lot of reviews complain about things that I feel are lack of maintenance. Low suction- replace the filter. Not picking up hair any more- clean or replace the brush. The spinny bit that cleans along the baseboard isn’t spinning- take it off and clean it. Not charging- clean the contacts. The parts are cheap. The maintenance is easy. Take care of your Roomba and it will take care of you.

I picked up the 692 because it was suppose to be great with dog hair. I didnt even have a huge job for it: one 400sf room with medium pile carpet where our two Anatolian Shepherds hang out during the day. Right out of the gate, it became clear that this vacuum simply cant handle pet hair on carpet. It didnt pick up all of it, and part of what it did pick up was left in two neat parallel rows behind it. (And as anyone whos had a Roomba problem will tell you, Roombas support is the absolute worst.) Theres just no point in using it for pet hair on carpet, because youll end up vacuuming the next morning anyway. Unable to return it without paying a ridiculous restocking fee (my fault for buying something that wasnt Prime-eligible), I moved it to the hardwood floors in our dining room. It does a decent job there, although I still have to regularly untangle pet hair from the undercarriage. Oh, and about once every four days, its high-tech cliff sensor fails and it gets stuck on the edge of the step down from our dining room. Pros: - Reasonably quiet - Bump-and-go seems to work fairly well (although has become stuck under a chair a couple of times) - Useful app - Decent cleaning on hardwood - Edge brush works well for floor edges on hardwood Cons: - Useless for pet hair on carpet - Cliff sensor doesnt always work - Requires regular manual cleaning of pet hair from undercarriage - Having to manually take the filter out and knock dirt off it when emptying is annoying
