The positives: I use it every day. Just turn it on and let it go. One day is downstairs, the next day is upstairs. It senses drop offs so it doesn’t fall down any stairs. It runs for about 90 minutes, gets underneath furniture, zig zags everywhere, is meticulous around corners and grooves it can get into. When it runs downstairs where the base is it docks itself when the battery is dying. After running it several days in a row I have noticed a decrease in the amount of dirt, dust, dog hair and human hair it catches. The negatives: it’s dirt receptacle is very small. Doesn’t hold much and has to be emptied every time. It can’t get into inside corners very well, only outside. There is a fan of some sort that blows as it moves around and it does tend to blow debris around or the little brushes end up throwing the debris off to the side. While it can make it over ledges in the floor, like rugs or wood separating rooms, there are certain rugs it struggles with like bathroom rugs or any rug that has strings hanging around on it as it wants to suck them up. I have not used the remote. Call it laziness on my part. I carry it upstairs on those days and I jus5 lean down and hit the go button when it’s downstairs. Knowing how some of these models are so extremely expensive I am very happy with the performance of this inexpensive model. So what if I have to still vacuum periodically in the corners and the stairs. This is well worth the money!

But I don’t think it was worth the cost. It did Pick up dirt but the compartment for dirt was to small and there was no self clean.

We purchased this vacuum since our son had the iRobot and really liked it for carpet. This vacuum will go around and vacuum the carpet without getting stuck, but will still leave pet fur behind. I thought that it was doing a great job getting all of the dog fur since the bin was filling up, but my husband rubbed his foot along the top of the carpet after the robot had done its job, and there was still a lot of fur on the surface that I didnt see. I would recommend this vacuum to use when you dont have time to clean with a regular vacuum. It will get a lot of the stuff left on the floor, but you will need to vacuum with something that has greater suction to get a deep clean. If you dont have carpet, I think this vacuum would do an amazing job!

Purchased to clean on wooden floor. I am amazed by how well it cleans the finest of dust. Wonder what took me so long to purchase it. Best buck for money. If you need a neat place, this is your best bet. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED!

I debated buying one of these robotic vacuum cleaners for years. I was deterred by the price, and also overwhelmed by the variety of models. I finally bit the bullet and bought this model, since it was on a price deal of $199 and offered me 5 interest free payments. Deal! The set up was quite easy! I downloaded the app, and let it go. I named it Hazel and off she went.... and bumped... and did all kinds of willy nilly zig-zagging. We have laminate flooring throughout the majority of our 1200 sq.ft. home. Hazel had trouble navigating underneath my dining room table-- as the design was too narrow for her to get underneath. The chairs were also a maze to navigate, and she kept getting stuck on the corner of my couch. Ive since had to put a stool in that area, so it doesnt get stuck. We have thick carpeting in our master bedroom, so I wasnt expecting much. I was impressed that Hazel went underneath the bed (a place I rarely ever vacuum) and did a pretty good job in that room. We have an area rug in our living room, and its no problem going from laminate floors to the rugs. I love that! Hazel has some difficulty returning back to home base, but Im guessing thats because it has to navigate past my dining room set to get there (I need to figure out a new place for home base). Once the job was completed, I was amazed at how much dog hair and dust was in there. LOTS!! Thats the real reason I wanted a robotic vacuum... our short-haired dog sheds lot. My hallways doesnt have that dirty/dusty look any longer. Of course, I still have to run my bad boy vacuum cleaner! However, Hazel does a pretty good job of maintaining dust and dog hair free floors. I just hope that Hazel lives a long life, because shes a good little helper.

My review is for iRobot Roomba 692. I bought this Roomba to replace my old Ecovacs Deebot N79S, which had started to show its age (earlier than I thought) and stopped cleaning like it used to in the beginning. I made my decision to buy this Roomba based on the reviews, high ratings, and a holiday discount at Amazon. It had much higher rating than the Ecovacs Deebot model I had. It was a wrong decision and heres why: I dont see much difference between the cleanings this Roomba and the old Deebot did (when it was younger, that is). Surely, the Roomba has more suction power, but its not a better vacuum cleaner for what one must pay for it excluding the holiday discount I got. The Roomba is so loud that it rivals my upright vacuum cleaner in that respect. The Deebot was much much quieter. For instance, I didnt have to stop that while I was on the phone. This, I must. I know these mid-level (and low) model robo-vacuums do not have the best programming embedded in them to do smart(er) cleaning, but on an equal level, the old Deebot was much smarter than this new Roomba. I have to say this is dumber. I even started verbally arguing with the thing. I rarely spoke to the Deebot. The days of meaningful silent conversations with my robot cleaner have been long over. :-P This vacuum cleaner is also very forceful; when it hits an object (e.g., a pot sitting on top of a plant stand), it may knock it down. Luckily I was always near my plants when such accident almost happened; I had to gently [honest!] guide the cleaner to somewhere else though it kept wanting to come back. Its unnecessarily fast and forceful. It gets more confused than the Deebot did when detecting gaps and obstacles. When this Roomba hits my office chair while Im sitting in it, it moves both of us for an inch or two. And, no, Im not that light and Im not joking. What kind of motor did they put in it? This Roomba always has hard time finding its home base. No, the base is not in an obscured place. When it is running low on battery, it doesnt seem to power down. It keeps cleaning--as loud and fast it was when it started its job--while looking for its home, which sounds like a great idea for maximizing the amount of cleaning, but then it ends up depleting whatever the charge remaining in its battery and finds itself dead somewhere in the house. I dont remember how many times I had to carry it back to its home. The old Deebot didnt have the same difficulty finding its own home base (which was where I placed the new Roombas) and it powered down when its battery was low. It quietly looked for it and didnt bother with cleaning, which was done already anyway. I am not saying the Deebot never had difficulty in this respect, but it wasnt as consistently bad as the Roomba. I dont care much for the seemingly-fancy smartphone app one must use to operate this Roomba either. I guess its nice to have features like getting a notification when its stuck or when its time to clean out its bin, operating it remotely, and setting its cleaning schedule with ease, but these features quickly turned into non-factors after I had time seeing the cleaner in action. The old Deebot didnt have any of these features--I had to use its rudimentary non-that-remote control device to set anything or control it, but I was happier with the job it performed, which matters more. Also, this Roomba didnt come with a kit that provided extra side brush(es), filter(s)/bin(s), or other parts that need to be changed periodically. The old Deebot came with a kit that provided extra of the same. Its my mistake to assume that the Roomba (for this price) would provide extra parts (at least an extra side brush would be nice as its one of the first things to go). So, all in all, I do not recommend iRobot Roomba 692. After our one-way toxic conversations (monologs, that is) reach to their detrimental peak, Im sending this away (Ill probably donate it with a note on it saying that I wasnt happy with it, but someone else who likes conversations with a strong vacuum while its shouting might -or- drop it off the towns garbage disposal/convenience center without a word). Lastly, one might think that Im recommending Deebot, which could have easily been any other brand. I am not. I used my experience with it as a baseline, which in turn I used to judge Roombas performance in the same house with the same obstacle course. You may already have or get a Deebot and dislike it because your expectations are different than mine. My review is based on my own experience with both. What I put here is merely my opinion. Your mileage may vary, as they say.

I just installed tile in my house and I am constantly sweeping dust and hair. I would like to say that it is dog hair, but I shed more than a Golden. The vacuum serves its purpose. Things that I like: saves me time and the app is good. Things I dont like: Brush stopped working on day 2 because like I said, I shed like a Golden. Husband had to take brush part apart and pull all the hair. It was caught on the wheels, brush, you name it. It has gotten stuck a few times under tables, and sofa. I wont run it when I am not home. I have to block several rooms in the house because once it gets in there, it goes around and around and around. Recommendation: I think I would do more research on different brands and models. Women have long hair and it can be just about everywhere, so not sure if there is a model that can help with this problem.

I was replacing a much older one with a battery that finally gave out. I’m very excited about this new Roomba, I love it being connected to Wi-Fi. You just start it from the app wherever you might be instead of having to remember to reach down and hit the button to physically turn it on before you leave the house. This one has a lower profile, is much lighter and doesn’t slam into everything like my old one did. It did a great job cleaning my wood and tile floors as well as the low pile rugs. So far it hasn’t gotten caught on a few obstacles my old one would routinely get stuck on. Definitely an upgrade. I did have a bit of a headache getting it connected to the wifi using the app. After trying several attempts where it just kept searching for the Roomba but never found it I eventually did a factory reset holding the spot and home buttons which corrected the issue and then it connected without a problem. Be sure you are connecting to the 2.4 GHz band instead of the five with your phone doing the “easy” set up since you probably automatically connect to five on your phone. If you have a pet, a robot vacuum is a must, it makes it so easy to keep clean. The dustbin isn’t huge but that’s just the nature of the beast, be sure to dump it since you can’t do that remotely. Love my Roomba.

I’ve never been good about vacuuming. I hate the whole process of lugging a big machine around and dealing with cords. I no longer have to deal with that, and my floors are much cleaner than before. That being said, the 600 series don’t have mapping technology and more or less uses a random cleaning pattern. It will alternate between random cleaning and doing perimeter stuff (sweeping the baseboards and around furniture). This can be kind of annoying when you just want to clean a certain area. There are days when it seems like it will only clean where I don’t want it to. As other reviewers mentioned, it also gets confused around dark areas of carpet. It thinks dark spots are cliffs and avoid them. Usually it will end up hitting the dark spot at a certain angle and be able to pass it, but this issue can cause it to get stuck in my carpeted hallway every so often. Overall, my floors are much cleaner and I use it almost every day. But, it would’ve been worth the extra $100 or so to get the i3 or j7, which both have some level of mapping technology.
