If youre ever in doubt wether something is hot or not you cannot go wrong with using this tester. It could literally save your life. Its quick and easy to use. Has a pretty great flashlight on it aswell. I do not work on any eletric without this thing. Great design compact and durable. Dont risk your life without one of these bad boys you wont regret it.

It’s really touchy. I have to literally have the point ON whatever I’m trying to get a reading on.

I bought mine at Home Depot. It is too sensitive, no matter which mode I use. It beeps whenever its within 9 inches of some electrical wire that may be close to some other powered wire anywhere in your house, not just in the area youre measuring. Impossible to tell which wire is line and which is neutral since it beeps on both. It beeps even when around any device that works on electricity, like my desk lamp (see the video). But sometimes doesnt (depends at what angle you are approaching wire) or it does with unreasonable time delay and that makes it dangerous since you may think there is no power when actually there is but most of the time youll likely think there is power when actually there isnt.

i purchased one but in my opinion these are dangerous, can give false negatives. Electricity is dangerous unless you are absolutely sure that you know wth you are doing. I won’t bother with explanations of how an outlet can seem dead and still be deadly. Improper grounding is all I will say. Are you sure that the labels in the panel did not fall off and get put back in the wrong place? Are you? Maybe it is a family member who pays the price. A couple hundred dollars is worth it to be safe, and NO, I am not an electrician but I am schooled in electronics and as a child I was caught by the grip of an ungrounded light fixture.

Love the ability it has to sense high voltage without touching

Im not in anyway an electrician, but voltage tester is a breeze to use. Ive been upgrading all my light switches to smart switches. My home is older so the wiring can be a bit confusing but this tester never failed in helping me find the hot wires and the builtin light really helps. I like it.

Wish I had purchased years ago. This tester makes it easy to find hot wires using alternating current electricity. I work remodeling homes. Its not uncommon to find a wire buried inside a wall and all I have to do is position this tester next to a wire to see if it is live or not. No need to drag out the multi meter and find a bare wire.

Accuracy

I have had pen testers in the past that straight up tell you the wire is dead and you end up arch welding your side cutters. This one has not failed me yet and is really sensitive so you dont have to make perfect contact with the wire you are testing to get it to read hot. Small life saver always in my tool belt.
