Meta Portal TV - Big Screen Smart Video Calling for Group Calls on Your TV

We gifted this to the grandparents and they love it. It doesn’t work too well as just a tablet, as it is underpowered. For video calls using zoom and Facebook it is fantastic. We love how it automatically frames the people in the camera. The sound quality was also surprisingly good. Overall it has been fantastic for what we bought it for.

I bought this for my 95 yo grandfather at the beginning of the pandemic. This was a god send during the pandemic as he was able to see peoples faces and know the world still existed. I set up a FB account for him and a photo album that would show on ambient mode. We lost my grandmother a couple of months before the pandemic started so it was really nice for him to have a constant stream of photos from his 73 years with his wife, pictures of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, parents, pets, life long friends, etc. At some point, FB in its infinite wisdom and desire for everything to be about popularity, decided to select only 50 photos to show and it is based on an algorithm for how often a picture is interacted with. I made his album private so the only pictures being interacted with are the newest added pictures. I have been around and around with support and there isnt anything I can do to increase the number of photos. It has been great for video calling but the other features is has are not useful for our situation and I am now looking for a digital frame that I can add to remotely.

This is my second portal, my first, The remote got lost so I have to buy another one I wish that I could just get the remote control but I think there’s no way. I love it connecting to my family from overseas.

Like touch screen, face recognition and voice commands.

Loved quality of picture. However, only got only one call out of it before it cycled into an endless factory reset mode. Didn’t set it up right away because got it for a birthday gift, so missed the exchange/return window.

The camera that follows you is a nice feature. I bought the portable version as this one needs t he attached to the cable and may not be a fit to all use cases. But the communication using the device is solid and easy to use.

Only work if plugged in continuously which is not very helpful if your home doesnt have an open floor plan. Must finish call in one location.

Easy to set up, this product is great. We’ve been able to watch our granddaughter growing up. It’s a priceless to watch her antics in real time on our big screen TVs, and communicate with her.

This is a neat little toy, but for my take if you already use a phone or tablet for video conferencing, you really don’t need this as well. It’s a nice screen and really does work, but it doesn’t do anything your phone or tablet aren’t capable of. Got this as a gift.
