> 3 dayI used this plus an old working VCR to convert a set of 4 VHS home movies my Dad made in the 80s. Rather than use the software on the CD included, I downloaded the latest version from Roxio (plus an update) and it worked well on my 9 year old Windows 10 machine (AMD FX 8120 3.1 Ghz CPU, 16gb ram, and 512GB SSD). Rather than let it run for the whole 2 hours, I sectioned my videos up in 20-30 minute segments to make it easier to manage. I was able to create video files to put on USB flash drives to hand out to family, as well as menu-driven DVDs (which I created using the built in Roxio MyDVD). The software feels a bit dated, but then again so are the source VHS tapes. Overall Im pretty happy to be able to archive these home movies using this affordable solution.

Greater than one weekVery poorly designed, their install instructions doesnt walk you thru what you need to know to use the program and is very glitchy! Unable to play DVD from any DVD player on TV after burning to disk from their program! Would not recognize my DVD player/Burner! And of course, Microsoft doesnt feel its compatible with windows 10! I had to drag and drop the file from the desktop on my laptop to my DVD burner that my laptop did recognize and use the Any DVD FROM MICROSOFT to play the VHS video on the laptop, again not on a TV! Their customer service only put in a service request ticket and told me someone would contact me, no technical help at all!

> 3 dayI have a lot of old hard drives with data, photos, videos and apps. I needed a device that can easily attach to my old drives, video camera and vcr’s. This device works great for my purposes. I didn’t use the included app much because I have a separate bideo editing app.

> 3 dayUpdated - after trying some other products that worked intermittently, I discovered my USB ports were all bad intermittently. I had thrown away the Roxio, and gotten another one, but it stopped working, too. After I bought a new computer, I dug the original unit out of the garbage, tried it again, and it has been working flawlessly for several weeks. So now I have two. The other products were just awful. Their interfaces were difficult to understand, or navigate, the video and audio were out of sync, or the recording image window wouldn’t go full-screen, etc. The Roxio is by FAR the best unit out there. Trust me, I tried them all. Original post (please ignore) - My first one died after about 20 hrs of recording. I thought it was a fluke and that Id get another and use the same software. The second one lasted about 15 hrs.

> 3 dayPurchased this product a while back to convert VHS tapes and other media to digital format. The program would export the video using the supplied hardware device, but when trying to create a DVD, it would not play on my DVD players. Tech support said the program was not creating NTSC formatted output, and to use MyDVD to create a DVD. That kinda worked. They fixed the NTSC issue a few months later, and it worked maybe once. So to create a DVD from the captured video content, I use a third-party program. I then tried to use the program to capture audio from cassettes or LPs. Again the program would capture the audio ok, but when I tried to burn a CD, it would crash the program. I worked with tech support for countless hours on different suggestions, but that proved fruitless. So again I used a third-party program to burn CDs. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT, UNLESS YOURE WILLING TO PUT UP WITHA LOT OF HEADACHES TRYING TO GET THE SOFTWARE TO WORK THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO WORK. OR BE ABLE TO WORKAROUND ITS FLAWS.

Greater than one weekThis is the second product I purchased to digitize my old VHS tapes. This is very easy to use. Software is downloaded from the Roxio website and the cord just plugs in to your computer and your VCR. The first product I bought required a CD drive to download the software. My laptop does not have a CD drive. I have had some issues when this program doesnt work, but it is an easy fix to repair the pogram by going to uninstall and choosing repair, taking less than a minute and the product then works fine. If youre looking for a simple way to digitize old VHS, I would recommend. There are also some simple tools to trim the video that are easy to use.
